Our sky was filled with these beautiful cumulus clouds with heavy wind and no rain. I know there's a lot to this series but as a science geek and lover of weather I couldn't decide on just one, I wanted to share all of its beauty with you
Crepuscular rays, shafts of light which are seen just after the sun has set and which extend over the western sky radiating from the position of the sun below the horizon. They form only when the sun has set behind an irregularly shaped cloud or mountain which lets the rays of the sun pass through a cloud in bands.
Tom Kruse used the punt to ferry the mail and stores across the Cooper up to retirement in the early 50s...
See later story up date and probably the Aust. Dictionary of Biography...

5:47 p.m. Note the black sky at the bottom of the clouds. My weather app says nothing about thundershowers between Sonora and Sonora Pass (CA Hwy 108).
There were a few heavy showers earlier in the day. By sunset, no clouds to be seen.
On the way home one even I grabbed a couple of shots of the evening over the Indian Ocean to the setting sun!

AQI 113 (unhealthy for sensitive groups), temp 82F, humidity up to 32%, which is high for us. Could be rain higher up the mountains, but we sure don't need lightning.
I had to look at a picture I took of the neighbors' Deodar Cedar last year. Yes, it's crooked! Its scrawny appearance is due to on-going drought for many years.
Now I’m confused — it’s 100 F down here, but there are ice crystals up there to form the fire rainbow.
Pano from the iPad… just had our back lawn/weeds mowed... #lovethiscreek and the golf course over there....
While there were very dark clouds over lower Tuolumne County, California, all day, it did not rain here. But friends 25-35 miles east up Hwy 108 reported heavy rain that afternoon.
Seen on a walk back to the Hostel through Fitz Park, Keswick.
You don't go to Cumbria to lie on a beach towel, covered in sun cream, all day and you wouldn't get this shot if it didn't rain a bit now and again.
Sunset here today was at 5:44 p.m. PST. Looking forward to Spring Forward to Daylight Savings Time on 14 March. ;-)
