More than 25 TLEs were observed during the early morning of Apr. 27, 2023 over thunderstorms at E. Aegean Sea and W. Turkey. Parent lightning flash seen below, between the clouds. Even though clouds were an obstruction, they filled the frame nicely.
TLEs (like red sprites) appear, under specific circumstances, above thunderstorms (e.g. red sprites appear at altitudes of 40-90 km).
I've used a Sigma 85 mm lens at f/1.4, for 1/25'' with 30 k iso.

What could be more Aussie than a platypus in a gum tree?
I was actually taking 3D images of this pond and surrounds which lie in the Tasmanian Arboretum near Devonport, when I was suddenly surprised by this lively little platypus! Not having anything with me resembling a zoom lens, I was stuck with the camera at hand which was the big 3D World medium format stereo film camera and its fixed 80mm lenses. So, it was a quick re-aim of the tripod mounted camera, a very quick manual refocus, and hope for the best. When a platypus pops to the surface, they usually don't hang around for long.
Any day with a platypus sighting is a good day!
Original colour slide was taken between 2007 and 2009 with a 3D World medium format stereo film camera using Fuji Provia 100F colour slide film. Scanned with a Canon R10 with RF24-240mm lens and Nisi close up attachment.
Following on from the first shot, here the wait produced some great rides on the northerly swell that led the surfers right into the mouth of the Mersey River.
This is where a lot of ships, including the Spirit of Tasmania passenger ferries make their way down into the heart of Devonport's harbour.
These two shots were almost too much of a challenge for the big 3D World stereo camera. It was designed more for static scenery or landscapes and only had a maximum shutter speed of 1/500th of a second. Combined with being stuck with film that was usually just 100 ISO, it did not like dull cloudy days like this for action photography! Both of the shots were in reality almost unviewable as they were very dark and underexposed, so quite a bit of rescue work was needed in post.

Back in 1988, Brisbane in Queensland was the host city for World Expo which ran for 6 months from April to October. I was lucky enough to visit in the middle of the season and remember it as wonderfully bright (despite this rainy day), colourful and exciting. I remember queues too and standing in long lines to see all the wonderful exhibits, but it was all worth it. This shot was taken from the Expo site on the South Bank of the Brisbane River and shows the Brisbane skyline as it was back then. I just looked at this view on Google Streetview and it is as you might expect, considerably different now some 35 years later.
We stayed until night time on several occasions and the large white shapes in the river were wonderfully and brightly lit from within and added a huge amount to the bright night-time splash of colour from all the neon lighting that was all through the site.
I was at this time living in Adelaide, but a little seed must have been planted by our visit here and within 3 years, we had moved to live on the Gold Coast, and I found myself driving buses from there to Brisbane on a daily basis and travelling along the riverside expressway on the right of this image!
This colour slide was scanned with a Canon R10, 24-240 zoom lens with Nisi close up attachment. Cool white LED backlighting.
Original camera was a Pentax Zoom 70 using Kodachrome 100 colour slide film.
The Chevrolet Super Sports (SS) are great drivers and fast as hell, whether they be a Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, or Impala. I've owned and driven three of those four.
Thank you all so very much for your comments and faves, but most of all I thank you for just taking the time to look. I appreciate each and every one of you! Gracias. Merci. Danke. Obrigado. Grazie. Go raibh maith agat. Tapadh leat. Gratias tibi.

Afternoon storm with a triple lightning in this shot. Lightning strike leaves a burn scar on the ground of a nearby hill. I went to search the point where it hit. I've found it and you can see photos from the burned trees and bushes as well as Lichtenberg figures inside the tree*: antisimvatikos.blogspot.com/2021/10/blog-post.html. * Well, this might not be the case after all. As Hubert Polacek commended "... patterns you have photograhed were made by beetle larvae...". So, I would like to thank him for identifying this correctly. This is how coincidence (CG on the same place) and a lack of experience at figures and patterns on tree trunks can lead to a wrong conclusion.

A newscaster said on New Year's Eve that the decade begins 01/01/2021. However, dictionaries found on "Dr. Google" say it is a period of ten years, such as 2020 through 2029.
This is another big red sprite event over the thunderstorms south of Crete (on the east side of the Medicane on 28/10) as seen from S. Attica during the night of Oct. 28, 2021. Faint parent lightning flash at the bottom, behind a cloud layer, can be seen as well. I've used a Sigma 85 mm lens at f/1.4, for 1/4'' with 60k iso. 5 shots meshed in layers/Photoshop
Always plenty of angling going on at the end of Brighton Jetty on Adelaide's wonderful coastal area. The sunset put on a nice show for ten minutes and was ever changing in colour and intensity.

As the thunderstorm was leaving (looking towards ENE here, with Mt. Imittos having an alt. of ~1 km), there were multiple pileus clouds, at least in 4 separate clouds here. Another thing that attracted my attention, was the contrail from the plane (a KLM flight, as a friend of mine informed me) avoiding the squall line. Athens, Greece, Nov. 26, 2021. This is a panorama of 5 shots.

The north coast of Tasmania is usually fairly calm and a little sheltered from the worst of the prevailing winds, but now and then the conditions would bring some wild weather from the north and the swell would create some great conditions for the local surfers. This was taken at the mouth of the Mersey River at Devonport on just such a wild day.
The two other keen photographers and I were waiting patiently for some surfing action, as were the surfers themselves.
I did actually cause some frustration for the photographer who was crouching down. We never actually got into much conversation on the day but he did look keenly at my big 3D World stereo camera that was used here. At the time, I kept a Canon strap on it, and this poor guy went home and spent hours online scouring the internet for a Canon 3D camera! He let me know of his frustrations (in a good natured way) a week or so later when we once again met up at a similar location.
The 3D World camera is a rare beast which was produced by a small Chinese company and there would have been maybe just a few hundred examples around the world and only two that I know of in Australia.

It RAINED for a couple of minutes this afternoon! First rain I’ve felt since early January. Barely got the pavement wet, but it was a nice change.
Noctilucent Clouds (NLCs) or Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs) were recorded for the first time over Greece, east of Athens (latitude 38 deg.) on twilight of July 2, 2021. Some days ago, NLCs were visible to latitudes of even 34 deg. (Valencia, Spain). Sigma Art 85 mm, f/8, iso 800. Video of the event: youtu.be/X526tLoXSNg and youtu.be/XYtdI4UgEDc

After one of those "red sky at night is a sailor's delight" sunsets tonight, it was only a matter of an hour or two later and we suddenly had this lightning storm. Not sure the sailors would be loving that! Lots of lightning and thunder but sadly not much of the badly needed rain for this dry part of the world. It even started a grassfire somewhere causing the smoke through the centre of the image. It was quite a show with the lightning flashing every 5 or 10 seconds. while I could, I just kept taking lots of pictures over the fence from the safety of our laundry (and through a slightly dirty window).
From the Big Trip 3D slide archives 2004.
I was going to wait for the camel train slowly making its way down Cable Beach in Broome in Western Australia for the ever popular camel train silhouette shot, but decided instead to go for this guy who had appeared from my angle to have hooked the sun on the end of the line. For the time we were in Broome, the sunsets were just wonderful every night.
I encountered the apparent horizon distortion on several sunset shots no matter where the horizon was placed in the frame. I am unsure if it is something to do with the film itself distorting through the camera being aimed at the sun, but it was definitely not the lens. I don't have software for correcting such things, but I still like the result.
