Witnessing a completely unique sunset each evening like this "one and only" example shown above and confident that the next day will present another unique scene.

---------------------------------------------

52 Weeks: 2025 Edition: Week 42 : The Meaning of Life

It was a pretty wild evening, with lots of thunder and interesting clouds as sunset approached. It had been close to 100F during the day, but with a lot of wind and some rain, there was a dramatic drop in the temperature. It went from over 90 to 69 in a few minutes.

This was the night of crawlers and upward lightning. Here is an example of the first, covering the whole FOV and more. This was an MCS lasting more than 7 hours throughout the night. Lightning frequency up to more than 1 flash per second at times and lots of hail. Athens, Greece, night of 26.09.2023.

A stormy sunset with lightning and Mt Taylor in the background.

A fairly large specimen of Eucalypts viminalis. Tree is one of of a pair isolated in the corner of an irrigation paddock on the Macquarie Road south of Cressy in the north of the state and appears to be water stressed.

The mountains in the background form the Great Western Tiers or should they be 'tears' as the landscape saw numerous atrocities committed by white settlers upon the First Nations Peoples of the island.

Fuji XT-1, Contax G Carl Zeiss Biogon 28mm f/2.8 "Frankenzeiss". 1/140th sec at f/8, ISO 200.

The Frankenzeiss comprises the optical block of the Contax Zeiss G lens transplanted into the body of a Minolta PF55 that has been modded to Leica M-mount. It works very well with the gen-1 X-Trans sensor.

This was a bright "mock sun" about 22 degrees off to one side of the sun, often called a sundog - formally called a parhelion.

El Parque del Lago Eola.

Lake Eola Park is a public park located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. The lake is actually a sinkhole and is famous for its fountain. The fountain changes colors at night like a light show.

The park was established in 1892. The "Centennial Fountain," was installed in 1957.

The majestic fountain and graceful swan boats make Lake Eola an exceptional amenity to the area.

When the afternoon cirrus give a spectacular show of, maybe, the most intense and colorful parhelia I've ever seen, but you also have a construction crane in front of you so, you must try to incorporate it in your frame...

Sonnenuntergang im Kraichgau

Another image from the powerful storm we had a couple of weeks ago. Again taken from the safety of indoors from my laundry window!

I say safety, but apparently, in the same storm, someone in South Australia did get electrocuted inside their home when they flipped a light switch right at the moment of a lightning flash!

The brown tinge of smoke can be seen lower right where a local grassfire had been started by a strike. I believe there were as many as 40 to 50 grassfires in the south of our state that night.

The afternoon and evening was a passing parade of wonderful storm clouds and lightning on the horizon. Mother nature gave us a real treat all evening. Although this scene to the naked eye was all dark, this fifteen second exposure was enough to boost the ambient light from the cabins and caravans on the shore of the Murray River and light up the foreground reeds and far trees across the lagoon and river. The birds were settled in for the night on their various perches. The flash of lightning in the distant cloud was a bonus!

Purple (more like violet?) is a great color for a street rod like this full-fendered old Chevrolet beauty.

Personally I like Cirrus clouds which give that abstract arts feeling. This was taken when I woke up, a usual routine to look at the sky before wash up :)
