An imperial garden for more than 1,000 years, Bei Hai Park was open to the public in 1925. Filled with artificial hills (made from the dirt excavated to create the lake), pavilions and temples. The park is associated with Kublai Khan who reputedly designed it during the Mongol Yuan Dynasty. Bei Hai Park (in particular, Qiónghuá Island) is topped by the 118ft (36m) White Dagoba, a Tibetan-style structure built to honor the visit of the fifth Dalai Lama in 1651.

Most of the attractions in Bei Hai Park are located on Qiónghuá Island and this is accessed via a stone bridge. In the lake, on either side of the bridge, there is an abundance of lotus plants and a small number of them were still blooming when we visited in late summer. This image was captured from atop that bridge.

This picture was captured in color (the original is part of this set) and converted to B&W using Adobe Camera Raw (included with Photoshop CS6). The appropriate sliders, in the 'Grayscale Mix", were then reduced to zero to darken the background and thus make the flower stand out from the background.

On August 20, 2015 this picture became the 500th of my images to get to graduate to the "Super~Six Superstar Academy".

For a company that's only been making road cars for a short time (exception being the F1) they are really getting busy.

This is the oldest covered bridge still in use in NH. The roadway is disconnected and only available to foot traffic. All other forms of movement faster than a walk on the bridge are restricted (according to the sign). The bridge was constructed in 1829 to connect the towns of Bath & Haverhill. The bridge is listed on the national register of historical places.

On a beautiful day back in September of 2014, I went out to the car show in South Meriden, and took about 200 pictures. I had a lot of fun, talking to the owners of these magnificent vehicles, and spectators as well. Then I finished my tour at the Village Barn, and kicked back a few. I still like to go through some of the files from that day, and find one that I would like to work on tor a while. Well, more like an hour. lol. But this is my favorite part. Using all the cool tools on my PC to develop the RAW image files taken during the day.

Went up to do support a friend in a very important project. Been over a year since I'd been outside to shoot anything seriously. This is the first landscape-ish thing out of me with something other than a phone since February 2012. So that's what air smells like...

Of course, I'm extremely rusty. Shot this a 70mm. Who shoots a single-layer panorama at 70mm? Way out of practice. And no nodal slide, so there are some strange things going on in the image. And, apparently I didn't have the head quite level, so there's a crown. Oy.

But I guess I'm out. And back. A long interval. Hello, world. Again.

Oh. New tool, thanks to the Whites (Dallas and Ed). Used PTGui to stitch this pano together. Much less frustrating than CS.

Buenas a todos!!!

*** IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD ***

If you were maybe thinking about upgrading, and buying PhotoShop; Or possibly you have a version of PhotoShop and you were thinking about upgrading to the newest version; O perhaps you had been considering moving your video work up to Premier CS6...

Forget about it! Adobe will no longer sell you any software! They are out of the software retail business. From now on, if you don't already own PS or Premier, the ONLY way you'll be able to use it is to pay the ransom to access PhotoShop and / or Premier in the Adobe CLOUD. Fifty bucks a month...assuming your internet access is consistent, and fast.

If this works for Adobe -- and, honestly, Adobe is so big that they don't really give a hoot, since they've just eliminated ALL of their retail distribution costs -- look for other software sellers to become Cloud landlords, and to insist that you become their Cloud tenants...or do without their products.

If you doubt this description, just go to the Adobe website and see for yourself.
