Thank you for taking your time to view my image.

Now that's how I like it... no people! Or hardly any, there were still a few stragglers leaving the gardens at sunset who walked through my shot, but as long as they kept moving it wasn't a big deal. ;-)
The Chisholm Trail, including Chisholm Trail Brazos in Waco, is a pivotal aspect of Texas history. It was a major cattle trail in the late 19th century, used to drive cattle from Texas to Kansas for shipment to eastern markets. The trail was named after Jesse Chisholm, a trader of Scotch-Cherokee descent who pioneered the route in 1867. The trail was not a single road, but rather a network of trails that stretched from Texas to Kansas. As a vital stop along the Chisholm Trail, Waco, Texas has a rich history that is still celebrated today. The Chisholm Trail Brazos Landmark, located on the riverbanks of the Brazos River, is a testament to the important role the trail played in the development of Texas. The Waco Suspension Bridge also played a significant role in the history of Waco and the Chisholm Trail. The bridge was completed in 1870 and was the first permanent bridge across the Brazos River. It quickly became a vital transportation link for the cattle drives and other travelers passing through the area. The bridge is still standing today (as a pedestrian and bicycle bridge) and is a popular attraction for visitors to Waco.
The Chisholm Trail Brazos Landmark has been recognized by both the local community and the National Park Service. In 2017, the Texas Historical Commission designated the landmark as a State Antiquities Landmark. The National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark both recognize and list the landmark. In conclusion, people celebrate the Chisholm Trail Brazos Landmark as an essential part of Texas history today. The landmark echoes Waco’s role in countless cattle drives on the Chisholm Trail, shaping Texas’ development.
The sculpture seen above is part of Robert Summers's larger, overall sculpture, "The Waco Chisholm Trail Heritage", near the historic Waco Suspension Bridge and includes three cowboys on horseback - one white, one Hispanic and one Black - and 25 longhorn cattle. All of the full sculpture cannot be photographed in one shot because of its size and how it is stretched out over a city block or more. The full sculpture depicts several cowboys and a Mexican vaquero driving longhorn cattle. Cattle were in fact driven across the suspension bridge in its early days, when it was covered with dirt. This particular section of the sculpture is specifically of a Vaquero (a herdsman or cowboy; or a term used in reference to cowboys in areas such as Mexico and the southwestern U.S. where Spanish is spoken) and several Longhorn Cattle. The first pieces were unveiled by Mr. Summers near the base of the Waco Suspension Bridge in 2008, and the total sculpture wasn’t completed until 2014. In total, the sculptures cost about $1.65 million and remain as a popular tourist spot.
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

This is what a rainy day in the UK leads me to . ..
Base shot of Zest with my D40 , plus 3 smoke shots taken today using 60d and 2 flashes , all merged in CS6 .
I'm new to this type of photography, so go easy on me. I'm learning new things along the way. I'm finding that this is quite fun to do and can give amazing results when done right. I'm using an Einstein 640 strobe with a 22" beauty dish & diffusion sock mounted on an Elinchrom Handheld Boom Arm. I typically fire my camera off with a wireless trigger, and that in turn fires my CyberSync™ Trigger Transmitter on my Nikon D800 to fire off my strobe via a CyberSync™ Transceiver. I end up taking several exposures, both high and low, while walking around the vehicle. I'll layer the images in Photoshop and switch each layer to the 'lighten' blend mode. I have been using layer masks to remove some highlight details from the strobe reflection, but I don't always find it works all the time. This hot rod was taken at the 2016 Mountain Thunder Car Show in Old Fort, North Carolina. I forgot how many exposures I ended up using, but i shot the car in full daylight with about 5 stops of ND filtration and had the flash power at maximum.

This is my first attempt at multiple exposure blending of flash exposures on a vehicle. I have been wanting to do this for some time, and this has been a big learning experience. I basically mounted my camera (Nikon D800) on a tripod, then took my flash (Nikon SpeedLight SB-910) which was rigged inside a softbox (The softbox kit is a Westcott Rapid Box 26" Octa. This is it here: www.fjwestcott.com/the-rapid-box-26-octa) and I held the flash/softbox at the end of my Elinchrom EL Handheld Boom Arm (www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/740942-REG/Elinchrom_EL_31...). I also used wireless triggers for both my camera and the flash, as I had to do everything on my own, especially with moving around with the light. I used four exposures in the end, but I took several exposures with the flash coming in at different angles to the truck. I brought the 4 exposures into Photoshop CS6 and then used the LIGHTEN blend mode with a layer mask to only bring in the light in the areas of the image that I wanted to. Some things I learned and will try next time are: Today was a sunny day, so I could've used a ND filter, probably around 4 stops to get the ambient light level darker since I was shooting at 1/200 sec (I did not want to go beyond my flash sync speed). I also tried to stay out of the frame for all exposures, but thinking back I could've stepped into my frame to get closer to the truck, especially in the engine compartment to light it up even more. I had to use a shallow depth-of-field as to not consume flash power, so I will try to use my Einstein strobes at another time so I can increase my dof. This image got a quick edit and I did not spend near the processing time as I usually do on my car images. This experiment was fun. I hope to produce better quality images of cars/trucks using this method. The car show was organized by WNC Wheels (www.wncwheels.com) and was held at the Upward Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
