“But, if you have nothing at all to create, then perhaps you create yourself.” ~ Carl Jung
What an extraordinary journey into self-discovery, creativity and seeing things in an entirely new way this 365 project has been. It has changed my life, for the better, in so many profound and wonderful ways. Heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have supported me on this journey - I'd never have made it without you.
Happy 365! Happy New Year 2012!

i came across the create project online and thought i'd join in the action on good friday.
this is a photo i took a while back very near where i placed this on a bench on ealing common. i called it journey into the unknown and this is the text i wrote around the frame:
journey into the unknown, ealing common left for anyone who finds it good friday 2012...
remembering christ's journey into the unknown..
surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering
yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him and afflicted
but he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities
the punishment that brought us peace was on him and by his wounds we are healed...
he was despised and rejected a man of sorrows...
seeing as this was a first of me just placing art as a gift i was curious to see what would happen. three lots of people walked past and didn't even look or notice it. then two women walked by, stopped, picked up the photo, had a conversation passing it between them, tucked it under the arm and walked off. that all lasted around 10 minutes. i hope they enjoy it, it sparks something - but who knows?!
This year's create a monster girls. Together like this you can see how short siren/mermaid girl IS, and also how much mad detail they went into this time around. I mean daaamn these ghouls are detailed. A lot you can't even really photograph. Blob girl has dribbles on her arms and ice has carved facets to her limbs and body. Mummy girl is totally moulded bandages and Gorgon gets a full scaled body, gorgeous. My only gripe, I wish mermaid/siren could sit down or you know.. pose a little better. The way the tail fits on means she's kinda stuck standing or lying down looking awkward.

Fauxgo is a blog dedicated to documenting fake logos that have appeared in favorite Hollywood films.
Check out their compilation of fake brand logos and identities created for the film industry to use in movies. The effort is sort of an attempt by Hollywood to get away with using popular logos and brand-identities - that way they can still instill the "feeling" without having to pay the brand for royalties (or perhaps the brand wouldn't let them use the logo in the first place).
If it was in fact a true guerrilla marketing effort (by becoming so close to the original logo that it attracted press) it would probably be deemed a pretty wise idea. Nonetheless, these logos are still pretty neat and may serve as some creative inspiration for your next guerrilla marketing campaign.
Check out all fictitious logos at the Fauxgo.com website. Which are your favorites? Are there any made-up logos that were featured in movies that is missing?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@Hollywood, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth@Hollywood event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
What is TEDxYouth@Hollywood ?
TEDxYouth@Hollywood is a day-long conference for Southern Californian youth aged 14-19. The event features inspiring people with mind, heart and spirit-expanding stories and ideas to share.
The theme of our inaugural event is JUMPING; as in, jumping into something new, exciting, fearful or inspirational. We are interested in igniting the imaginations of youth and the concept of jumping just for the fun of jumping!
Our presenters are a mix of youth, young adults and established professionals in their fields which run the gamut from entertainment to non-profit, education and business. As our theme promises, we will present a few surprises as well.

I can't give you any advice but this: to go into yourself and see how deep the place is from which your life flows; at its source you will find the answer to the question whether you must create. Accept that answer, just as it is given to you, without trying to interpret it. Perhaps you will discover that you are called to be an artist. Then take the destiny upon yourself, and bear it, its burden and its greatness, without ever asking what reward might come from outside. For the creator must be a world for himself and must find everything in himself and in Nature, to whom his whole life is devoted.
~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters To A Young Poet ~

2023 - The Honey Ant
Small MOC created for a "Nature" themed contest. It was very difficult to find a subject for this theme because other participants had already represented (and very well) various more traditional subjects. However, typing "strange insects" into Google, I came across Honey Ants: the workers of this species have the particularity of storing food reserves in their body, swelling it up to the size of a grape. As soon as I saw them I understood that I had to represent them even though, due to scale requirements, I had to take slight anatomical liberties 😅.
