The CA community gathered on October 2 to celebrate this long-awaited new chapter in CA’s history at the beginning of the Centennial Campaign. “Launching the building of this vital project a year ahead of schedule, we wouldn’t be here without your enthusiasm and support,” Hardy said. “On behalf of everyone at CA, thank you for your belief in this school and its future.”
We are creating a Time Machine at ‘Pataphysical Studios, our art collective in Mill Valley, where surrealism meets the maker culture. Our Time Machine will take you on wild rides through time, to meet characters from the past, present and future.
On a balmy summer afternoon, we gathered in the art garden to create some of its parts: dragons of change to guide you on your journey; an art priestess in her prehistorical cave; a pataphysical flag on a magic pole; a painted gear holding the secret of life; a cactus of the future strolling by in stop-motion.
We then showed our Time Machine to young Dr. Delia, who gave it the two-year old test, pushing all of its buttons to jump back in time to the age of dinosaurs, her favorite scene. I’m pleased to report that we passed the audition. :)
This was also a great opportunity to celebrate our good friend Dr. Rindbrain’s un-birthday, which we kept low-key at his request. Long live the young at heart!
We are recruiting experienced artists and makers to help create the Time Machine through art, multimedia, theater and technology. Please contact us if you are interested and live in the Bay Area. We will give a few private demos in the fall for folks who are ready to get their hands dirty with us.

We taught a workshop on how to create interactive art with the Arduino platform at the Mill Valley Library on October 24, 2015.
We showed 9 students how to make lights blink, sounds play, motors move, and how to add more color with neopixel LEDs, as described in this online guide we created for the workshop:
At the end of the workshop, we asked participants if they would like to this again, and the answer was a resounding yes! Participants told us they learned a lot from this workshop and would not only come back for future workshops, but also recommend this program to their friends.
Instructors for this workshop were Donald Day and Fabrice Florin, with support from Natalie and Jean Bolte. We are all members of Pataphysical Studios, the art collective behind the ‘Pataphysical Slot Machine’, our poetic oracle.
Come visit the exhibit this month! We’re open every Saturday and Sunday in October, from 1 to 5pm, in the downstairs conference room of the Mill Valley Library.

Our Maker Art class created a Haunted House in fall 2016. In this after-school workshop at the Lycée Français, students ages 7 to 10 built a fantasy world together, with magical creatures, ghosts, witches and other spooky characters.
We combined arts and technology to bring their creations to life: each student created their own room in our haunted house, and animated their characters with motors and simple mechanisms, adding lights and sounds to tell their stories.
Students started by designing their rooms and characters, and built them in their own cardboard ‘wonderboxes.’ We then asked them to sketch up their individual visions of the Haunted House and combined them together. Children worked in teams to build some of the more complex features: a clock tower, an elevator and an animated graveyard zombie, all powered with Arduino boards.
I’m very grateful to my associate teachers for this class: Sarah Brewer and Edward Janne were amazing partners and empowered our students to create their own interactive art, helping them bring their ideas to life in a playful way that made learning more fun.
We taught this class weekly at the Lycée Français in Sausalito, with 8 school students in grades 3, 4 and 5. We met every Thursday at 3:30pm, from September 15 to December 8, 2016. Many of the materials we used in this class were prepared at Tam Makers, our makerspace in Mill Valley.

The Oxford Half Marathon is a spectacular half marathon (13.1mile) running event. Created by runners, for runners.
Through the University Grounds and Christchurch Meadow, past the famous track of Iffley Road where Sir Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile for the first time, along the Thames path passing the Oxford Rowing Team Sheds. There is something for everyone, including a grand stand finish at the Kassam Stadium.

Air Libertè was a French Airline created in 1997 that declared bankruptcy in 2002 and cease operation mid 2003. The company adopted the name AIR LIB on September 22nd, 2001. Among other types, the Airline got 5 different DC-10s.

Cold War Museum is located in the former Soviet Union`s complex of ballistic missile silo launch. Since 1963 up to 1978, there had been deployed four medium- range ballistic missiles SS-4, armed with 2- megaton power thermonuclear warheads. It was a mosaic or mosaic I created of Miss Cecily's goofy ballet dancers in a photoshoot celebrating the royal wedding... They had a wonderful time...;))
I remember fondly Miss Cecily's Partnering Class in Massachusetts in the nineties. I took the class. It was a breeze for me to lift a ballet dancer over my head in those days. The tricky part was to always make her look floating effortlessly and to increase her turning ability elegantly...
Now that I think about it there some similarity to Physics. Theories in Physics are often judged on their elegance too.
