My first year A-level Fine Art coursework was based on the topic of 'memories' where I explored the idea of flowers representing different stages and events in life. I researched into the artist Manet and experimented with his style to develop my own. I did various colour pencil studies of the decaying process of flowers from photos I had taken, where I discovered that the colour of the pencils became purest on a darker background. Finally, I studied a selection of vases, with the idea that they are what holds all the memories together, and used different pressures with colour pencils to create a glass effect. The photos I took of the vases were inspired by another artist, Jacqueline Gnott, who always paints flowers inside vases with a black background.

Year 13 Coursework Final Piece

For my coursework I wanted to focus on nature and the fundamentals of our world. I used a number of techniques to create texture and depths, for instance i used wire around some of the lotus.
