Jell-O America's Most Famous Dessert. Early 1900's?

Book cover redesign.

It's a book that teaches you things that the government doesn't want you to know. It shows you how to build "things". Therefore the blueprint idea, plus it shows oragnization which I feel anarchy isn't about that.

Most of my cookbooks and cooking magazines.

I got these in the used book room at TiY for a little over twelve dollars. Very exciting.

A rather boring collection, if I do say so myself...

The scan is pretty crappy. But here's the HUNGARIAN edition of Apache Cookbook. How cool is that?

The cookbook shelf in the office. I noticed that several folks in the group have posted pictures of what they are reading, thought that this could be an interesting twist on that.

Subtitled "Recipes for a Lady or a Man", this is full of great recipes and funny commentary by many of Achewood's residents.

My Grandmothers 1917 "Household Discoveries and Mrs. Curtis's Cookbook"

1000+ pages of what ever good householder needs to know. It has information on property design, digging privys, deworming patients, cleaning kid gloves and the "ideal method of sweeping"

The cookbook has some interesting things that are timeless. The ovens, of course are all wood or coal fire, so they are medium ovens or hot ovens.

Inside the book there are a few handwritten recipes and the one page has items cut from a magazine and pasted on. The sheet of paper has long since ripped in half but the glued on magazine items are still stuck fast.

About 10% of our cookbook collection.

I got a couple of new cookbooks and plan to do my next cookbook project on one of them though I haven't decided yet which to do. It has been a while since my last project as I've been dealing with some food sensitivities and being on an elimination diet which is finally over. Turns out I have what is called candida which is an overgrowth of yeast in my intestines so am taking prescription Nystatin and going on a Candida diet to deal with that.

Appetites: A Cookbook DESCRIPTION :

Anthony Bourdain is a?man of many appetites. And for many years, first as a chef, later as a world-traveling chronicler of food and culture on his CNN series Parts Unknown, he has made a profession of understanding the appetites of others. These days, however, if he?s cooking, it?s for family and friends.Appetites, his first cookbook in more than ten years, boils down forty-plus years of professional cooking and globe-trotting to a tight repertoire of personal favorites?dishes that everyone should (at least in Mr. Bourdain?s opinion) know how to cook. Once the supposed "bad boy" of cooking, Mr. Bourdain has, in recent years, become the father of a little girl?a role he has embraced with enthusiasm. After years of traveling more than 200 days a year, he now enjoys entertaining at home. Years of prep lists and the hyper-organization necessary for a restaurant kitchen, however, have caused him, in his words, to have "morphed into a psychotic, anally retentive, bad-tempered Ina

Cookbook editors seem to prefer red book covers, especially for cookbooks covering the Chinese cuisines. Or I have a tendency to buy cookbooks with red covers.

What an exciting find. A 1911 Butterick Cookbook which someone used as a guestbook. The transcriptions are really funny. The first ones start in 1914, for an American Thanksgiving dinner cooked in Canada, and the last ones are from a birthday party in the 1930s. Photo of Hester Apartments, Calgary

"Dinners for two can be just as exciting, varied, and delicious as those for a larger number. And this book is designed for you brides, business girls, career wives, and mothers of married children."

We are pretty ruthless about turfing useless cookbooks and yet there are still a couple of dogs in this batch.

Loving this new cookbook, even though I love meat. This is not a vegetarian book, nor does it have recipes to "replace" meat. It is really just all out delicious recipes which just happen to not have any meat. It's inspiring me.
