I love cookbooks. I read them front to back, like novels.

Here's a small sampling for you.

Oh, and the San Francisco Chronicle book has excellent fancy shortcake recipes.

Canned Heat

Also from last fall. Aronia grows in parks and people also grow them for decoration, but usually don't know that it is possible to eat the berries. At least in Finland. It takes 15 minutes to pick a bucket of 10 litres!

I received my cookbook in the mail yesterday from Blurb. They did a really good job and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I probably went a little overboard with a full page picture for almost every recipe, but I guess that's what happens when your other hobby is photography.

Here's a link if you want to check it out:

This one is a favorite! It has the look of the school readers I used as a child. I love "Better Homes and Gardens" cookbooks. Most of them have classic illustrations and fonts that perfectly mirror the design and fashion of the times. And the recipes are pretty good, too.

Found 12 vintage cookbooks for 99 cents (+ shipping) on the bay!

365 Days in Colour - 9/30 orange. Decided to pull out the orange cookbooks this morning for the days orange. As I was choosing how to compose the shot, The lines for a vanishing point caught my attention. Since that is also on the MSH, this is a two-fer!

I'm a bit of a book addict, so I have many books on many subjects. I probably have 150 cookbooks. The only one in this stack that I have actually cooked from is the Chinese One Dish Meals & the things I've made have all been delicious - especially the Mapo Tofu.

This is a small portion of my cookbook collection.

We had to replace the finger binding on this - original is white with title

A cookbook from Australia that has quite a few good recipes in it.

Chicken Stew with White Beans and Zucchini

Pork and Coriander Stew

This is from last summer, with tomatoes and basil from the balcony. I Found the soy knots in an Asian supermarket.

Vintage cookbooks that I inherited from my Mom. They sit on my bookshelf unused, just as they did on hers. One of my favorite things to do as a child was to look at the photos in the Cooky book and beg her to make them for me.

Next to them sits a vintage bird on his perch. His tail is a bottle opener and his head is the holder for a corkscrew that fits inside his body.
