takes me about 3 days.
Drawing that airplane makes me so mad because the wings and engine are too complicated.
The train and cruise ship are easier.
I shouldn't put such a big airplane in the middle !

‘The Political Reporter’ is a new media installation by Boone, NC-based artist Mark Nystrom that generates random, but intriguing statements with words found on political websites and in the media. Sources include the Obama and Romney presidential campaigns, the Democratic and Republican parties, bloggers and the news media.
‘The Political Reporter’ animates a cloud of letters and periodically makes statements. These images are screen grabs taken while ‘The Political Reporter’ was running on Election Day and the day after.
Letters from words gathered from conservative sources are colored red and ones from liberal sources are blue. ‘The Political Reporter’s’ vocabulary includes over 70,000 words, but only 300 appear on the screen at any given time. As words are used to make statements, they are replaced by randomly chosen new ones from the list of 70,000.

Since 2009, protests against the Sri Lankan Civil War have taken place in several countries across the world, urging national and world leaders and organisations to take action on bringing a unanimous cease fire to the Sri Lankan Civil War, which had taken place for over twenty-five years. The protests took several forms, including human chains, demonstrations, rallies, hunger strikes and self-immolation by a few individuals.
Tamil diaspora communities across the world expressed concerns regarding the conduct of the civil war in the island nation of Sri Lanka. The civil war, which took place between the Sri Lankan Army and the separatist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam is believed to have claimed the lives of over 100,000 civilians.Protesters and critics of the Sri Lankan government alleged the civil war to be a systematic genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Sri Lankan Tamil minority in Sri Lanka. Critics of the protests alleged the LTTE's use of ethnic cleansing as well as such abuses as the use of civilian human shield, child soldiers and terrorism.
The first protests occurred in several cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu in 2008 where organisations, politicians, celebrities and student associations raised their requests for the Government of India to intervene and stop the civil war in Sri Lanka. Following the Tamil Nadu protests, protests began to take place in other cities across the globe. The goal of the protests was to persuade organisations and political leaders to intervene in the Sri Lankan Civil War and establish a ceasefire, appeal to humanitarian aid organisations to provide resources to the affected areas of Sri Lanka, and help remove the LTTE from any list of terrorist organisations. After the civil war was ended on 18 May 2009, protests continued in a few countries, urging governments to undertake a war-crimes inspection in Sri Lanka.
On 11 May, the protesters in Parliament Square "spilled through police lines" causing roads to be blocked, with the protesters "noisy but peaceful."Protests had left the City of London Police with a cost £7.1 million. The British Human Rights Act grants everyone the right to gather with others and protest.[
I know both my mom and my sister have been waiting and waiting and waiting for me to get these photos up, most especially the ones of all the girls together. Hope they look alright!

Near the terminus of Empire Grade Road on Ben Lomond Mountain, California. Last July, 11 months after the CZU wildfire, I wondered if the fire-damaged coastal redwood (left image) would be allowed to continue to stand. Six months later (right image) it was gone. Damaged trees near critical infrastructure like roads and power lines were removed from the huge burn scar in a project that took well more than a year.
For hundreds of years, the church of Saint Spyridon the Old continues to beautify, through its discreet presence, the life of Bucharesters.
Although its founders and the year of construction are not known with certainty, and its religious architecture does not attract the attention of those who love beauty in any special way, the place of worship impresses with its authenticity and simplicity.
Some historical writings mention as founders the Florești boyars, "old-line and generous boyars", whose sumptuous residence was located nearby, in the former neighborhood of "Scorțarului", most likely named after those who processed tree bark, indispensable to tanners.
It is also known that during the reign of Prince Constantin Mavrocordat, the small wooden church was replaced with another one made of stone, surrounded by cells, the religious establishment soon becoming a monastery.
In addition to the significant financial contribution of Prince Mavrocordat, Patriarch Silvestru of Antioch was also a co-founder.
Also during this time, as in the case of other places of worship in Bucharest, an inn was built around the monastery, but it was demolished with the start of the Dâmbovița sewerage works.
Over time, other buildings were erected on the site of the inn, among the most famous being the "Tyre Society", later transformed into a theater, which following renovation works became the "Operetta Theater".
In 1815, during the terrible plague epidemic during the reign of Prince Caragea, the Bucharesters who had not left the Capital, in order not to infect each other, closed themselves in monasteries, including "St. Spiridon the Old".
In the 19th century, the church suffered significant damage due to the earthquakes of 1802 and 1838, then the reform of the secularization of the monastery's assets, initiated by Prince Cuza, left it terribly impoverished.
During the communist regime, in 1987, it was demolished, and was not rebuilt until 1995.
A year later, on the occasion of its consecration, on Saint Demetrius' day, on October 26, the two inscriptions in Greek and Arabic, unique in the church world, the entrance portico, the carved stone columns inside and on the porch, the window frames, as well as the icons in the iconostasis were re-installed in their place.
...then onto the window ledge. She edged along it and reached out for a drainpipe! When the window was opened I had taken out my camera to take a photo from it, which I had thought was the reason the window had been opened...

Our third and final stop on the Golden Circle Tour ... Geysir.
From Wikipedia -
Strokkur (Icelandic for "churn") is a fountain geyser located in a geothermal area beside the Hvítá River in Iceland in the southwest part of the country, east of Reykjavík. It is one of Iceland's most famous geysers, erupting once every 6-10 minutes. Its usual height is 15-20 metres, although it can sometimes erupt up to 40 metres high.
Strokkur belongs to the Haukadalur valley area, where various other geothermal features such as mud pools, fumaroles and other geysers are located around it, including the famous Geysir geyser.
Strokkur was first mentioned in 1789, after an earthquake helped to unblock the conduit of the geyser. Its activity fluctuated throughout the 19th century; in 1815 its height was estimated to have been as much as 60 metres. It continued to erupt until the turn of the 20th century, until another earthquake blocked the conduit again. In 1963, upon the advice of the Geysir Committee, locals cleaned out the blocked conduit through the bottom of the basin, and the geyser has been regularly erupting ever since.

The big blizzard was not so bad where I live..at least my neighbourhood didn't seem to get the biggest winds and we only had about a foot of snow.
No invites please..this new flickr page is still confusing me
