The UTRGV HESTEC events continued with the SeaPerch competition held this year in Brownsville at the Margaret M. Clark Aquatic Center.
Schools from all over the Valley came to Brownsville to compete in this Navy-sponsored program, with the winner moving on to a national competition.
SeaPerch is an underwater robotics competition where school teams build a ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) that needs to navigate a complicated obstacle course, and manipulate objects, all underwater.
During the competition, 2 team members control the ROV, one steering, and one manipulating the connected wire.

The last 2 times (over a couple of months) that I went by Clarendon Falls there was no water whatsoever going over the falls. At those times, falls nearby had plenty of water. Within 24 hours this area has had 1.5 inches of water. The ground walking down to the falls was soaked! There was a little water here, but nowhere near as much as could be expected. I can't figure it out! Someone the creek must have been partially diverted.
Maybe next time I will ask the people in the gas station just up the road what the deal is here.

Oh my! What a lame ending to Hopper's career! You all know Sergeant Hopper, don't you? He was Herbert Lom to Laser's Peter Sellers.
Sure Hopper started off as a genial friend, philosopher and coach. But Laser could turn a gentle old grandmother to a teeth-gnashing terror. Hopper did his best to keep his cool. But how long can one remain sane as a trainer with Laser as his ward? Major Mantis Lee is an exception of course. The long and short of it (I was just looking at his legs) was that Sergeant became hopping mad.
He was baying for Laser's blood. Sent Laser on a sure-death mission. Sent assasins after him. He did everything and more of what Chief Inspector Herbert Lom did to Inspector Clouseau. But then Laser had an author-backed role. Lady Luck rides with him. Hopper was at his wit's end.
That is when he discovered spirituality. A wonderful new world opened wide in front of him. 'What am in this for? What is the purpose of all this? Who am I trying to protect? Why am I fighting this silly war? I didn't elect to vote for this President.
'Look at all those spiritual gurus. What inspiring lives they lead. So tranquil. So detached. No trace of materialism. They may have their Rolls and Rolexes. But totally untouched by them. They have found the real secret of happy life.'
So went Hopper's line of thought. He discovered the magical blend of western hedonism with an eastern spin. What an appeal it can have! You can be a monk who sells a ferrari and gets gifted with a few. You just write a few books; just make sure it is dumbed down enough to appeal to many. Make a few Tv appearances. Growing a beard is optional. Training seminars are always a sure hit. Especially when you go out of your country. Your name shines more in foreign shores.
So my gentle readers, here is Hopper lounging around in the lap of luxury, wondering what to title his next best seller.
Any suggestions?
