... like I was back there, whether it was hot or cold, exactly when and where, who I was with, EVERYTHING!

That is a big reason for me to photograph, all those memories.

Happy when I discover an image that works, that excites me for some reason, here it was LINES.

Horizontal lines, 2 in Ostend and the hammock in Amsterdam.

Have a great day and thanks for your visit, M, (*_*)

Also from my garden.

Yellow roses are the perfect way to toast friends, lift spirits and send a general wish for well-being.

You can never go wrong with yellow roses.

In many Eastern cultures, the colour represents joy, wisdom and power, the symbolism of flowers eh.

By the 18th century the worldwide love of roses was in full swing, but they were only cultivated in shades of pink and white.

At last, the elusive yellow rose was discovered growing wild in the Middle East, and the European love affair with yellow roses was born.

The early yellow rose lacked the sweet scent for which the rose is now also famous.

So, as cultivation methods were developed and refined, the beloved sweet-and-spicy rose scent was soon introduced and the yellow rose achieved all its optimistic and aromatic glory.

RENAISSANCE, in this case re-awakening… into something different, beauty of the second kind.

Dried Tulip.

Sometimes some flowers will lose their petals while others will just ‘mummify’ in the warmth of the studio conditions.

I know that some people are not keen on decay and that others love it.

But here I saw such beauty still, in the shapes and the colours.

Another of my personal favourites.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thanks for your ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated, M, (*_*)

collage from this morning. I wanted to do a series of leaves with canceled postage but despaired of finding nice stiff autumn leaves at this time of year (soggy). Then today this was on my walk back to the house. I was surprised how pleasurable he act of floating envelope bits atop water to watch the stamps magically peel away was.

The flows balance.

So expressive!

Although tulips are associated with Holland, both the flower and its name originated in the Persian empire. The tulip, or lale (from Persian lâleh) as it is also called in Turkey, is a flower indigenous to Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey and other parts of Central Asia. It is unclear who first brought the flower to Northwest Europe. The most widely accepted story is that of Oghier Ghislain de Busbecq, Ambassador from Ferdinand I to Suleyman the Magnificent of the Ottoman Empire in 1554. He remarks in a letter upon seeing "an abundance of flowers everywhere; Narcissus, hyacinths, and those which in Turkish Lale, much to our astonishment, because it was almost midwinter, a season unfriendly to flowers!

In Persian Literature (classic and modern) special attention has been given to these two flowers, in specific likening the beloved eyes to Narges and a glass of wine to Laleh. The word tulip, which earlier in English appeared in such forms as tulipa or tulipant, entered the language by way of French tulipe and its obsolete form tulipan or by way of Modern Latin tulipa, from Ottoman Turkish tülbend, "muslin, gauze". (The English word turban, first recorded in English in the 16th century, can also be traced to Ottoman Turkish tülbend.)

Rouge delicate.

Gerbera is a genus of plants Asteraceae (daisy family).

It was named in honour of German botanist and medical doctor Traugott Gerber.

Gerbera is native to tropical regions of South America, Africa and Asia.

The first scientific description of a Gerbera was made by J.D. Hooker in Curtis's Botanical Magazine in 1889 when he described Gerbera jamesonii, a South African species also known as Transvaal daisy or Barberton Daisy.

Gerbera is also commonly known as the African Daisy.

“[…] with these words, I aspire […] to pass judgment on nothing less than Western, Christian civilization. Because I believe that our civilization is approaching the highest degree of barbarity ever recorded in history. Because it seems to me that for the first time in history, all the conditions of barbarity has come together: the richest and most powerful countries is invading one of the least developed; it tortures the inhabitants, photographs the torture, publishes the photographs in its newspaper, and no one says anything. Hitler still had the modesty to hide his tortures; Johnson has gone further: He shows them. The difference between them reflects the differences in the responsibilities of their respective populations: The Germans could say that they didn’t know what was happening in Hitler’s concentration camps: but we, civilized Christians: we can’t say that.

For we see the faces of the tortured ones everyday in our newspaper, the same newspapers that talk to us about freedom and human rights […].

Those photographs and the passivity of the citizens of the west are the symbols of our advanced barbarity. […]

I cannot comment on the formal value of these works. All I ask of art is that it helps me say what I think with the greatest possible clarity, to invent the visual signs that will allow me to condemn with the great possible efficiency the barbarity of the west. It is possible that someone will show me that this is not art; I would have no problem, I would change course, change the name of what I do: I would cross out art and call it politics, corrosive criticism, whatever”.

Bought this beauty plant, to grow in our garden… years of pleasure to come.

Camellia sasanqua is used as a garden plant, its leaves are used for tea, and its seeds for oil.

The attractive flowering tree was named by Linnaeus for the Moravian Jesuit botanist Georg Joseph Kamel and has been used, if sparingly, as a first name since the 1930s.

In the language of flowers, the camellia denotes admiration and perfection.

The Dumas novel The Lady of the Camellias is the basis of the opera La Traviata and the Garbo film Camille.

Minute amounts of water, windfall samples - organic and mineral - are collected from the very landscape depicted within each picture - and chemically bonded with the film over 9 to 24 months. The result: a developed film and unedited, printed images that are somewhere between a classic photograph and a totally abstract image, depicting the interaction between fundamental chemical elements present at each place & time, representing a more visceral and literal experience of being present in landscapes in a constant state of natural or unnatural flux.

Concept:

I assert that the intentions expressed in the ‘prompt’ is the artwork in AI image making.

A prompt can be understood as an instruction.

Yoko Ono’s book “Grapefruit” is composed of instructions, prompting us to have a variety of experiences, mentally, or possibly physically, if one is so inclined.

Accordingly, this project is titled “Yoko Ono AI.”

Ono’s ‘prompts’ have been used to generate the AI imagery. The prompts have been integrated into the images so that their relevance is inescapable: they are like veils over the images, both obscuring them and imbuing them with intentions, Ono’s intentions.

I saw this lovely structure in the seawall and asked Paul to go there and pose for me, it is so much better, you get a greater sense of the proportions!

The term living statue refers to a mime artist who poses like a statue or mannequin, usually with realistic statue-like makeup, sometimes for hours at a time.

This is an art that requires a great deal of patience and physical stamina.

Living statue performers have been known to pose as shop window mannequins in order to fool passers by, and a number of hidden camera shows on television have had living statues suddenly spring to life to startle people.

As with all performing arts, living statue performers may perform as buskers or in commissioned shows. Some living statues are also invited to perform in fine arts exhibitions. Now you often see them on thestreets.

MINI Tomatoes...they showed attitude... and there was a multitude...

An heirloom tomato (also called heritage tomato in the UK) is an open-pollinated (non-hybrid) heirloom cultivar of tomato.

Heirloom tomatoes have become increasingly popular and more readily available in recent years.

The tomato is native to South America and a prehistoric introduction to Central America and Southern parts of North America.

Genetic evidence shows that the progenitors of tomatoes were herbaceous green plants with small green fruit with a center of diversity in the highlands of Peru.

Some believe Spanish explorer Cortez may have been the first to transfer the small yellow tomato to Europe after he captured the Aztec city of Tenochtítlan in 1521, now Mexico City.

Yet others believe Christopher Columbus, an Italian working for the Spanish monarchy, discovered the tomato earlier in 1493.

The earliest discussion of the tomato in European literature appeared in an herbal written in 1544 by Pietro Andrea Mattioli, an Italian physician and botanist, who named it pomi d’oro, golden apple.

The tomato is a herbaceous plant of the nightshade family, as are its close cousins tobacco, potatoes, aubergine, chilli peppers and the poisonous belladonna.

More and more varieties in the shops, heirloom and colourful in all sizes, we are so fortunate to have ALL that choice!

We can now buy ‘tomatoes on the vine’ which are ripened or harvested with the fruits still connected to a piece of vine.

These tend to have more flavour than artificially ripened tomatoes.

Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: therefore it is a fruit or, more precisely, a berry... NOT a vegetable.

Tomatoes are notoriously difficult to light well, with reflectors all sorts...

A lovely challenge!

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

Why do you make me feel like a puppet on a string?

TumblrTwitter

inspired by an article about a housing complex that installed the electricity meters beside the front door on all of the houses. which resulted in energy costs being reduced by 30% by all tennants. the idea being, if you are aware of how you impact the world you are more likely to alter behaviours.

so i created a dish soap bottle that is covered in statistics about water pollution, and the impact of chemicals on human beings and the environment. just so i am a little more aware each time I reach for the container.

They look proud ad regal, however, in Winter flowers are grown in green-houses, in different countries, the are transported, from hot to cold to warm and cold... planes, trains, lorries... the tender blooms inevitably get damaged.

I have yet to encounter the ‘perfect’ flower!

Some flowers are more resilient of course, like these two, only slightly blemished.

My flowers and I are in full communication again!

They speak, I listen, with my eyes. LOL

It is said that: Art is Expression of the imagination?

Centaurea Montana.

Centaurea is a genus of between 350 and 600 species of herbaceous thistle-like flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.

Members of the genus are found only north of the equator, mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Common names for this genus are centaury, centory, starthistles, knapweeds, centaureas and the more ambiguous "bluets" (in French); a vernacular name used for these plants in parts of England is common knapweed.

A classic cottage garden plant, the blue cornflowers cut well for arrangements and they are attractive to bees and other pollinators. Deadhead to encourage further flowering.

WHISPERING SWEET

Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa south to Somalia.

The cyclamen commonly sold by florists is Cyclamen Persicum, which is frost-tender.

Selected cyclamen cultivars can have white, bright pink, red or purple flowers.

While flowering, florists' cyclamens should be kept below 20 °C (68 °F), with the night time temperatures preferably between 6.5 °C to 15 °C (44 °F to 59 °F).

Temperatures above 20 °C (68 °F) may induce the plant to go dormant.

The pink variety here

Gypsophila is a genus of flowering plants in the carnation family, Caryophyllaceae.

They are native to Eurasia, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

Turkey has a particularly high diversity of Gypsophila taxa, with about 35 endemic species.

The genus name is from the Greek gypsos ("gypsum") and philios ("loving"), a reference to the gypsum-rich substrates on which some species grow.

Plants of the genus are known commonly as baby's-breath.

Plant bears thousands of tiny pale-pink double flowers, held in branching heads.

A great 'filler' in bouquets.
