She made ripples

that might have touched the universe

if they hadn't died

on the tips of her fragile fingers.

The potential to change the world.

It could feel impossible, that we are insignificant, that what we do is meaningless.

Even on my worst days I've never bought into that.

I've watched my actions ripple, seen my decisions effect others - for good and bad. I try so hard for good.

I live every single day knowing that what I do means something.

That the next decision I make has the potential to be my best yet, to be life-altering, to be momentous.

Great failures lead to great triumphs. Do not let your ripples die on your fingertips because you are too afraid to let yourself change the world.

Series from the Pandemic Years.

Limited Edition of 5 sets of 5 artworks.

Using a 2 year film development process.

How do I do this??

Minute amounts of water, windfall samples - organic and mineral - are collected from the very landscape depicted within each picture - and chemically bonded with the film over 9 to 24 months. The result: a developed film and unedited, printed images that are somewhere between a classic photograph and a totally abstract image, depicting the interaction between fundamental chemical elements present at each place & time, representing a more visceral and literal experience of being present in landscapes in a constant state of natural or unnatural flux.

Concept:

I assert that the intentions expressed in the ‘prompt’ is the artwork in AI image making.

A prompt can be understood as an instruction.

Yoko Ono’s book “Grapefruit” is composed of instructions, prompting us to have a variety of experiences, mentally, or possibly physically, if one is so inclined.

Accordingly, this project is titled “Yoko Ono AI.”

Ono’s ‘prompts’ have been used to generate the AI imagery. The prompts have been integrated into the images so that their relevance is inescapable: they are like veils over the images, both obscuring them and imbuing them with intentions, Ono’s intentions.

#abfav_lines_stripes

I saw this lovely structure in the seawall and asked Paul to go there and pose for me, it is so much better, you get a greater sense of the proportions!

The term living statue refers to a mime artist who poses like a statue or mannequin, usually with realistic statue-like makeup, sometimes for hours at a time.

This is an art that requires a great deal of patience and physical stamina.

Living statue performers have been known to pose as shop window mannequins in order to fool passers by, and a number of hidden camera shows on television have had living statues suddenly spring to life to startle people.

As with all performing arts, living statue performers may perform as buskers or in commissioned shows. Some living statues are also invited to perform in fine arts exhibitions. Now you often see them on thestreets.

MINI Tomatoes...they showed attitude... and there was a multitude...

An heirloom tomato (also called heritage tomato in the UK) is an open-pollinated (non-hybrid) heirloom cultivar of tomato.

Heirloom tomatoes have become increasingly popular and more readily available in recent years.

The tomato is native to South America and a prehistoric introduction to Central America and Southern parts of North America.

Genetic evidence shows that the progenitors of tomatoes were herbaceous green plants with small green fruit with a center of diversity in the highlands of Peru.

Some believe Spanish explorer Cortez may have been the first to transfer the small yellow tomato to Europe after he captured the Aztec city of Tenochtítlan in 1521, now Mexico City.

Yet others believe Christopher Columbus, an Italian working for the Spanish monarchy, discovered the tomato earlier in 1493.

The earliest discussion of the tomato in European literature appeared in an herbal written in 1544 by Pietro Andrea Mattioli, an Italian physician and botanist, who named it pomi d’oro, golden apple.

The tomato is a herbaceous plant of the nightshade family, as are its close cousins tobacco, potatoes, aubergine, chilli peppers and the poisonous belladonna.

More and more varieties in the shops, heirloom and colourful in all sizes, we are so fortunate to have ALL that choice!

We can now buy ‘tomatoes on the vine’ which are ripened or harvested with the fruits still connected to a piece of vine.

These tend to have more flavour than artificially ripened tomatoes.

Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: therefore it is a fruit or, more precisely, a berry... NOT a vegetable.

Tomatoes are notoriously difficult to light well, with reflectors all sorts...

A lovely challenge!

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

inspired by an article about a housing complex that installed the electricity meters beside the front door on all of the houses. which resulted in energy costs being reduced by 30% by all tennants. the idea being, if you are aware of how you impact the world you are more likely to alter behaviours.

so i created a dish soap bottle that is covered in statistics about water pollution, and the impact of chemicals on human beings and the environment. just so i am a little more aware each time I reach for the container.

They look proud ad regal, however, in Winter flowers are grown in green-houses, in different countries, the are transported, from hot to cold to warm and cold... planes, trains, lorries... the tender blooms inevitably get damaged.

I have yet to encounter the ‘perfect’ flower!

Some flowers are more resilient of course, like these two, only slightly blemished.

My flowers and I are in full communication again!

They speak, I listen, with my eyes. LOL

It is said that: Art is Expression of the imagination?

Centaurea Montana.

Centaurea is a genus of between 350 and 600 species of herbaceous thistle-like flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.

Members of the genus are found only north of the equator, mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Common names for this genus are centaury, centory, starthistles, knapweeds, centaureas and the more ambiguous "bluets" (in French); a vernacular name used for these plants in parts of England is common knapweed.

A classic cottage garden plant, the blue cornflowers cut well for arrangements and they are attractive to bees and other pollinators. Deadhead to encourage further flowering.

To me, Scabiosa is a very feminine flower.

Each flat flower is beautifully skirted in large outer florets and collared by reflexed vegetative bracts.

They last two weeks in the vase.

I am addicted to the final thrill… each time, when I am happy with the end-result and press save, for the last time!

WHISPERING SWEET

Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa south to Somalia.

The cyclamen commonly sold by florists is Cyclamen Persicum, which is frost-tender.

Selected cyclamen cultivars can have white, bright pink, red or purple flowers.

While flowering, florists' cyclamens should be kept below 20 °C (68 °F), with the night time temperatures preferably between 6.5 °C to 15 °C (44 °F to 59 °F).

Temperatures above 20 °C (68 °F) may induce the plant to go dormant.

I tried a ‘different’ composition.

Some images just have an emotional impact… more than others?

This one, the moment I saw it in the perfect light, when I photographed it, when I first laid eyes on it, aaah the thrill!

I always keep these a little longer before I publish them, keep them close for awhile.

The pink variety here

Gypsophila is a genus of flowering plants in the carnation family, Caryophyllaceae.

They are native to Eurasia, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

Turkey has a particularly high diversity of Gypsophila taxa, with about 35 endemic species.

The genus name is from the Greek gypsos ("gypsum") and philios ("loving"), a reference to the gypsum-rich substrates on which some species grow.

Plants of the genus are known commonly as baby's-breath.

Plant bears thousands of tiny pale-pink double flowers, held in branching heads.

A great 'filler' in bouquets.

I will fly to the moon,

And catch you a star.

Though when you need me,

I’ll never be far

I will fight dragons,

Dry all of your tears,

Chase away monsters,

And comfort your fears

I’ll dress up in pink,

And I’ll hold your hand.

Blow you a kiss,

Build castles of sand

Might you be lonely,

A song I will sing,

But most of all,

I will build you a swing.
