A Persian Buttercup (Ranunculus asiaticus)
Those huge heads, so layered, all coming out of this one bud, this bud unfurling and displaying all this beauty... it NEVER ceases to amaze me.
The evolution, the unfurling, then the GRAND opening...

TOUT ROUGE... ANEMONE
ALL IMAGES ARE BEST seen On Black, yours too! PLEASE?
Anemone are called "wind flowers”.
Anemone is derived from anemoi who were the Greek wind gods.
Among the best known summer anemones is A. coronaria, often called the poppy anemone, a tuberous-rooted plant, with parsley-like divided leaves, and large showy poppy-like blossoms on stalks of from 15–20 cm high; the flowers are of various colours, but the principal are scarlet, crimson, blue, purple, and white.
In the Victorian language of flowers, the anemone represented a forsaken love of any kind, while European peasants carried them to ward off pests and disease as well as bad luck.
Here the different aspects, full frontal, back and sideways profile..
Have a lovely day and thank you for viewing, M, (*_*)

Vibrant blue with signature yellow blotches on each petal, called Dutch Iris.
Not only is the iris a beautiful flower, but also they have several uses. As a live plant they are used as a water purifier.
They are ingredients in some perfumes, homemade toothpaste, pottery and herbal medicines.
The stylised iris, fleur-de-lis, descends from the white iris which is native to Florence, Italy and which grew even in its city walls.
Catherine de Medici carried this symbol of Florence to Paris when she married the king of France where this most famous of irises acquired its nickname, fleur-de-lis.
The iris has been associated with France as Louis VII adopted it as a symbol in the 12th Century.

I said it before, I think Scabiosa is a very feminine flower, well here you get three from me;
Each floret is composed of tightly packed, button-shaped, nectar rich centres which up close have charming dancing stamens, which coat pollen over visiting bees and butterflies.
Each flat flower is beautifully skirted in large outer florets and collared by reflexed vegetative bracts.
If regularly deadheaded, they continue into October and last two weeks in the vase.
I love what I’m doing and look forward to another week of finished images, to add to the vast collection.
I am addicted to the final thrill… each time, when I press save, for the last time!
Have a super day and thank you, M, (*_*)

I get in quite a state upon seeing such budding beauty, yes it fills me with many positive emotions.
I love everything about it, the texture, the shapes and curves, the colours and about the image?
Of course the light!
The common thread is that these flowers always denotes luxury and indulgence.
Went for again for a dramatic lighting, to make them 'different' from other flower images...
My favourite... Lol, thank you for your time and comments, M, (*_*)

"Mindful Compassion" [22/52]
Being kind and taking the high road is a choice. When you're faced with adversity, always take the time to be kind even if someone is tearing you down. The last few months have been really trying for me and I've been upset, angry, disappointed, hurt, etc. I always take the time to think before I speak and in one of the most aggravating situations I've been involved in for a while... I chose to be nice. I chose to not stoop to lower levels and to keep my soul glowing with love. Pick your battles wisely and know that life isn't always about if you're right or not... sometimes you just have to suck it up and move on. There is no point in wasting energy, time, and emotions on things that will never change or things that are only negitivity in your life.
Always choose to be kind.
These are just beautiful, russet with yellow heart.
The genus named after the Swedish baron Alströmer who brought them back from a trip to South America in 1753. Also called the Peruvian Lily or Inca Lily, is a South American genus of about 50 species of flowering plants.
Almost all of the species are restricted to one of two distinct centres of diversity, one in central Chile, the other in eastern Brazil.
Species of Alstroemeria from the Atacama Desert of Chile are winter-growing plants while those of Brazil are summer-growing.
The flower, which resembles a miniature lily, is very popular for bouquets and flower arrangements in the commercial cut flower trade.
They have a vase life of about two weeks.
Thank you, M, (*_*)

or: Cornflowers on a black background…
Cornflower blue is a shade of medium-to-light blue containing relatively little green compared to blue.
This hue was one of the favourites of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.
Centaurea cyanus, commonly known as cornflower or bachelor's button, is an annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe.
In the past it often grew as a weed in cornfields (in the broad sense of the word "corn", referring to grains, such as wheat, barley, rye, or oats), hence its name.
It is now endangered in its native habitat by agricultural intensification, particularly over-use of herbicides, destroying its habitat.
The cornflower is considered a beneficial weed and its edible flower can be used for culinary decoration, for example to add colour to salads.
Bon Appetit!

In our home, we have a cupboard under the eaves. Nothing extraordinary there?
Except, it is opened only once a year, it is where our Christmas decorations are stored.
I still feel the same excitement I felt when I was a little girl, and I'd climb the stairs, behind my dad, up to the (huge) attic, yes... open 'the cupboard' holding all the cardboard boxes with the shiny glass baubles, the sparkling garlands.. They weren't heavy, so I was allowed to help, and ooooh, when I opened the first box, I smelled the pine and wax from years past...
Most of the treasures you remember and look forward to seeing again, many are a renewed surprise.Once again, with a sigh, because another year had flown bye so fast, the ‘ special cupboard’ was opened and all the memories of years gone by were released.
Joining the latest ones. Because, each year something new is bought!
The days are so short now, it is dark by 15.30, but that means that the sparkling new lights look even better.
A box was standing a little precariously, probably the last one in, with those things always left behind when all else is safely put away?
But no, It fell open, there were my white feathers, the wings and the angels! Aha, so this is where angels rest? LOL
I stopped my activities, to photograph: THE priority!!!
Wishing you a very good day and thanx for visiting Magda, (*_*)

Gently sprinkled with pollen... From the front, from the back, ALWAYS beautiful.
The waiting buds only just peeping out.
Summer is leaving us in a flurry of colour
Named for the shape of their leaves, like blades, gladioli – from the Latin word “gladius,” meaning sword – have a history than spans from Africa to the Mediterranean.
Symbolising strength and moral integrity, gladioli also represent infatuation, with a bouquet conveying to a recipient that they pierce the giver’s heart with passion. How romantic!

Michael Rawling’s Elemental Series uses Film and Found Materials at the pictures’ location to create a new type of Landscape artwork.
Liquid, organic or mineral samples are collected at the site of the photograph - from the very landscape depicted within the photograph - and bonded with the film over 6-12 months: the resulting image created more deeply representative of the world we experience.

Mini roses, so dainty and delicate.
There are plenty of myths and legends behind the white rose.
As one myth has it, the first rose on Earth was a white rose, and it miraculously transformed to other hues.
The pure white rose was said to have been tainted by blood, making it red; and it was also made to blush from a kiss, making it pink.
Another myth came from the Ancient Greeks. It was said that roses were originally white until one day Aphrodite the Goddess of Love and Beauty pricked herself with the thorns of a rose. The blood that dripped from her finger turned the white roses red.
It will come as no surprise to you when I say: I love flowers, ney, I NEED flowers!

“There was something rather blousy about roses in full bloom, something shallow and raucous, like women with untidy hair”
― Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca
Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new.
Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge and hunger in me.
I am NOT a 'WORKAHOLIC'. I only constantly aim to see the end result!
"Just Joey" is a Hybrid Tea Rose and has a fruity fragrance ( to me it smells like ripe raspberries mmmmmm) which wafts from large ruffled salmon blooms, once opened. This superstar rose is from England. Just Joey roses were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1994.
The flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems. Each blousy flower can grow to 8-12.5 cm wide. Hybrid Teas are the world's most popular type of rose by choice due to their color and flower form. With their long stems, it gives them the advantage, over others, as cut flowers.
Most shrubs tend to be very upright, reaching up to 1.8 metres and are recurrent-flowering (flowering constantly during the season, unlike wild dog roses that flower once).

PINK, FRINGED Tulips, here I 'shaped' them in a circle...
A circle is a simple shape of Euclidean geometry consisting of those points in a plane which are equidistant from a given point called the center.
A circle as a metaphor and structure for defining a system of communication and interaction...
Inner-circles, outer-circles...
It seems to me that everything comes in 'circles'... It is Spring once more...
Just a meditative day!

On 1 August 1759, British troops and their allies defeated the French at the battle of Minden.
After the battle, the British soldiers picked white roses and wore them as a tribute to their fallen comrades.
Since that day, a number of Yorkshire-based regiments have worn white roses on 1 August to commemorate the events of 1759 and all those from Yorkshire who have fallen in battle since.
Yorkshire is my adopted country.
I live here by choice and love it.
The biggest county in the UK, a day of celebrations in what they call 'God's own country'.
More info:
The White Rose of York (also called the Rose alba or rose argent), a white heraldic rose, is the symbol of the House of York and has since been adopted as a symbol of Yorkshire as a whole.
These myths indicate the loss of innocence, which is the absolute opposite of what the white rose symbolises – innocence and purity
Beauty from my garden, to the studio, to you.

So expressive!
Although tulips are associated with Holland, both the flower and its name originated in the Persian empire. The tulip, or lale (from Persian lâleh) as it is also called in Turkey, is a flower indigenous to Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey and other parts of Central Asia. It is unclear who first brought the flower to Northwest Europe. The most widely accepted story is that of Oghier Ghislain de Busbecq, Ambassador from Ferdinand I to Suleyman the Magnificent of the Ottoman Empire in 1554. He remarks in a letter upon seeing "an abundance of flowers everywhere; Narcissus, hyacinths, and those which in Turkish Lale, much to our astonishment, because it was almost midwinter, a season unfriendly to flowers!
In Persian Literature (classic and modern) special attention has been given to these two flowers, in specific likening the beloved eyes to Narges and a glass of wine to Laleh. The word tulip, which earlier in English appeared in such forms as tulipa or tulipant, entered the language by way of French tulipe and its obsolete form tulipan or by way of Modern Latin tulipa, from Ottoman Turkish tülbend, "muslin, gauze". (The English word turban, first recorded in English in the 16th century, can also be traced to Ottoman Turkish tülbend.)
FOR ALL THOSE I LOVE...

Yellow and Blue Iris, a marvel.
A gentle arm curve creates a soft frame around the dancer’s head.
Bought a mixed bouquet, saw just the tips of the yellow Irises, to my amazement, the center turned out blue, not seen that before, thus photo-session with my new elegant models. This definitely spoke of ballet ...
I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen, with my eyes!
In Flowers'-language: Iris means faith; hope; wisdom and valour
In Fine Arts: the lenses also have an iris diaphragm which can be opened and closed to control the amount of light reaching the film.
Iris can also mean:
* The sphincter around the pupil of the eye, the iris is the most visible part of the eye, when photographed with a flash, the iris only reacts to protect the retina, and not fast enough to avoid the red eye effect.
* The equivalent device in a camera,
* The messenger of the gods in Greek mythology
* A variety of flower,
* A female first name.
I wish you a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

I mentioned I was a 'classicist' for Christmas. I prefer the colours green, red, white... with some gold or silver.
I looked up why Red?
An early use of red at Christmas were the apples on the paradise tree. They represented the fall of Adam in the plays.
Red is also the colour of Holly and many other berries, which is said to represent the blood of Jesus when he died on the cross.
Red is also the colour of Bishops robes. These would have been worn by St. Nicholas and then also became Santa's uniform?
AAAHHH well, there you go. I just find it festive!
Hope you this warms up your day.
Thanx for visiting,
Magda (*_*)

My quote for this year: ‘BE HAPPY with what you have and NOT UNHAPPY with what you do NOT have!’ by magda indigo
Alas... tulips, once cut, have a lifespan of about 7 days, if you are lucky and bought them VERY fresh, in closed buds!
Often they retain their beauty till the end and then, oops, all the petals drop.
These had stayed in the studio, where, for obvious reasons, it is never very warm, I came in, they had opened completely, showing off all the secrets of the inside flower, aach, how can I resist such beauty, even when fading...
Mysterious and still passionate... they look unreal, like ’silked’.
The year 2017 is also fading rapidly now, its lifespan 365 days nearly exhausted.
Some will be sad others will be glad... ... we take it as it comes if we want to get through life 'gracefully'?
I am doing my utmost to focus on all the good in my life, around me and in Nature.
I wish you all a very good week and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and faves. Very much appreciated.

Taken in Salford, Manchester, Lancashire.
Named after the Greek god of wind, Aeolus – Acoustic Wind Pavilion is a giant instrument and optical sculpture, crafted by Luke Jerram.
It was singing away in Canary Wharf, Aeolus allows wind to resonate through polished steel tubes and along vibrating strings attached to the tubes.
The hum produced is attuned to the aeolian scale and registers even in the lowest of winds, creating a soundscape of the environment throughout the day.
The pavilion itself is a remarkable feat of elegant engineering as each protrusion reflects the sky light to the centre of the harp-like structure combining the particular nuances of light and sound into a quite beautiful and situationally unique performance.
With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)
