To brighten your day.

Zinnia is a genus of plants of the sunflower tribe within the daisy family.

They are native to scrub and dry grassland in an area stretching from the Southwestern United States to South America, with a centre of diversity in Mexico. Members of the genus are notable for their solitary long-stemmed flowers that come in a variety of bright colours.

The genus name honours German botanist Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727–59)

There’s not a more vibrant late-summer plant, with a brilliant range of colours and flowers that look as though they’ve been cut from velvet-coated cardboard.

Lamentations 2:22 “You [LORD] called as in the day of an appointed feast My terrors (dangers) on every side; And there was no one who escaped or survived in the day of the LORD’S anger. Those I have cared for and brought up with tenderness, My enemy annihilated them.”

STUDIO WEATHER!

We always have a smaller studio in our home, in between things there is time for some of my favourite photography, playing with lights...

Went to the 'end of the market' for a cheap deal on flowers (my props), 6 bunches for £ 2, chose from whatever is left.

I was fortunate, blue Irises, blue Hyacinths, pink Tulips, Tiger Lilies, what a delight, they perfume our whole house!

One of the many different compositions and combinations I tried, thank you, M, (*_*)

When I first saw them, they were just big fat lovely buds... slowly they opened and one by one the white outer petals revealed the little secrets.

Nature at its freakiest best?

Most unusual, these bi-coloured Rococo Parrot Tulips, flowers with twisted, irregularly fringed petals.

Even their leaves are wild and 'Baroque'.

They are weird, even a little 'alien'?

Are they ‘monstrous beauty or beautiful monster’

These white and green are the most exotic of the lot though!

Love them or hate them, Parrot Tulips are Spring's grand (bulb) showcase, big and beautiful, they have flamboyant flowers with streaks, ruffles and frayed edges.

Edward Elgar's Sospiri op. 70 - cello Sol Gabetta

Sospiri, Op. 70, is an adagio for string orchestra, harp (or piano), and organ (or harmonium) composed by Edward Elgar just before the beginning of World War I.

While composing it, however, he realised that he was writing something more intense, and so chose an Italian word, sospiri, meaning "sighs".

Doesn’t it look like an identity parade? LOL, just try and pick out THE one…

Fuchsia flowers from the garden. Another variety, even more delicate, smaller and candy pink!

I don’t have a large garden now, most plants are in pots. Hence all the variations of all my favourites.

Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees.

The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) in 1703 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier.

He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs.

The vast majority of garden hybrids have descended from a few parent species.

This is only a small plant, but on the windowsill in my kitchen, it seems to thrive in the Northern light, these beauties here seem to fight for the light.

Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa South to Somalia.

The name Cyclamen is presumed to come from Greek 'kyclos', a circle referring to the round tubers, or leaves.

Lovely inverted flowers rise out of fantastically patterned rounded or heart-shaped leaves.

Some of the patterns, particularly the silver leaved varieties are exquisite and can truly be described as a wonder of nature.

From the family Primulaceae, they come in beautiful colours from white, pink, purple, red and combinations of these.

Cyclamen like the cool; the smaller the leaves, the cooler they can stand it.

The tubers are regarded as the favourite food for pigs in the South of France, Sicily and Italy, hence a rather uncommon common name Sowbread.

Cyclamen are poisonous; they have been used medicinally as a powerful purgative, but their toxicity makes this risky.

Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamins C and K as well as providing a good dose of fibre, folic acid, manganese and potassium.

They also contain significant amounts of phytonutrients and flavonoids which makes strawberries bright red.

FUN FACTS on this lovely fruit:

*Despite their name, strawberries aren't technically berries—they're accessory fruits and as we're getting technical, berries should have seeds inside.

*Strawberries are really in a group of their own since they don't come from a single ovary.

*There are 200 seeds on an average strawberry.

*Plus, they're the only fruit to wear their seeds on the outside.

*Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen each spring.

*Ancient Romans believed strawberries had medicinal powers. They were used to treat everything from depression to fever and sore throats.

*Native Americans were also among the earliest people to eat strawberries. They even introduced European settlers to the fruit.

*Not only can you safely eat strawberries if you have diabetes, but in fact you are encouraged to do so.

#AbFav_PHOTOSTORY

When I am out and about, like the weeks in Scotland, my main interest is never far from my brain, I always scan for ‘bounty, so, I brought back, found on the ground: dried leaves that i think are different, Maple-copters, Mountain Ash berries, small cones and rose-bottles.

These here made me think of the chrysalis of moth or butterfly....

No, not a proper butterfly one, but a leaf (less than 3cm that thinks it is a Chrysalis, LOL

The pupae of different groups of insects have different names such as chrysalis for the pupae of butterflies.

The term is derived from the metallic gold-coloration found in the pupae of many butterflies, referred to by the Greek term χρυσός (chrysós) for gold.

Aquilegia chrysantha 'Yellow Queen' .

This columbine cultivar is perennial that features large, upward facing, fragrant, bright yellow flowers with long, outward curving spurs.

Flowers grow on a long stem above the leaves and have five pointed yellow sepals and five yellow petals with long spurs projecting backwards between the sepals.

At the center of the flower are many yellow stamens.

Aquilegia comes from the Latin word for eagle in reference to the flower's five spurs which purportedly resemble an eagle's talon.

in Nature, it happens that something appears, with some 'imperfection".

A typical Yorkshire Dales' view, with old trees, the sheep and the ever ongoing dry-stone walls drawing dark dividing lines through the land.

The light was golden, the air crisp and clear, I love Winter.

It reminds me of the paintings of one of the Brueghel's.

Since it was taken with 400 asa film, I reduced the grain for once, however the main reason was to get that 'paint' effect that the famous Flemish painter's family BRUEGHEL and others put in their paintings.

This was how I saw it, a bright sky and some mystery in the trees, the cold wind gently blurring my tear-filled eyes.

This image is an artistic interpretation.
