Syringa (Lilac) is a genus of about 20–25 species of flowering plants in the olive family (Oleaceae), is native to Europe and Asia.

The usual flower colour is a shade of purple (often a light purple or lilac), but white and pale pink are also found. T

he flowers grow in large panicles, and in several species have a strong fragrance.

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!

This was singing to me about le temps des lilas, Spring and fresh green...?

This is NOT a crop, but a proper new composition.

Lead and enjoy a good life, do and say things that enrich... and do not forget to tell the people close to you, how much you love them!

Wishing you well and stay safe.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, hope you all have a great time! M, (* _ *)

I promised two more examples of making use of an old picture frame. As I said yesterday, I photographed the picture frame and then used this to create a form of conceptual art. In this case we are dealing with the concept of where to place the frame in the picture.

DIGNITY in BLUE, Centaurea Montana.

Centaurea is a genus of between 350 and 600 species of herbaceous thistle-like flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.

Members of the genus are found only north of the equator, mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Common names for this genus are centaury, centory, starthistles, knapweeds, centaureas and the more ambiguous "bluets" (in French); a vernacular name used for these plants in parts of England is common knapweed.

A classic cottage garden plant, the blue cornflowers cut well for arrangements and they are attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Deadhead to encourage further flowering.

I saw these two in the grass, probably trampled by dogs or children.

Picked them up carefully and brought them home... to photograph...

I had to hurry because they are the iconic outdoor flowers!

Love the cold and NOT warmth!

But hey, have you ever seen them like this before? LOL.

Quite a lot of 'repair' work to do on these fragile little beauties, my rescues.

The language of flowers, sometimes called floriography.

Meaning has been attributed to flowers for thousands of years, and some form of floriography has been practised in traditional cultures throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The ~Language of Flowers~ originated in Persia in the 15th century, and was brought to Europe in the 18th century. In the 19th century, this ~floral code~ became popular and people sent messages in bouquets to each other.

Since each flower, colour, and number had a specific meaning, conversations between lovers took place without a single word being used.

Roses are the perfect gifts to convey your emotions.

White roses symbolise reverence and humility.

In American culture, the white roses symbolise security and happiness and are used for weddings.

The white rose is also known as the ~Flower of Light.~

There are plenty of myths and legends behind the white rose.

As one myth has it, the first rose on Earth was a white rose, and it miraculously transformed to other hues.

The pure white rose was said to have been tainted by blood, making it red; and it was also made to blush from a kiss, making it pink.

Another myth came from the Ancient Greeks.

It was said that roses were originally white until one day Aphrodite the Goddess of Love and Beauty pricked herself with the thorns of a rose.

The blood that dripped from her finger turned the white roses red.

These myths indicate the loss of innocence, which is the absolute opposite of what the white rose symbolises ñ innocence and purity

Brought these, as they looked ready, only when I looked through the viewer did I spot the bumble bee, it stayed there the whole time, I thought is was dead, but no, it was just gorging on the pollen.

After the shoot, I put it outside and loaded, it flew off in freedom!

Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins, mostly in the family Asteraceae.

Prickles occur all over the plant – on surfaces such as those of the stem and flat parts of leaves.

These are an adaptation that protects the plant against herbivorous animals, discouraging them from feeding on the plant.

Interesting bit: Carduus is the Latin term for a thistle (hence cardoon, and chardon in French), and Cardonnacum is the Latin word for a place with thistles.

This is believed to be the origin of name of the Burgundy village of Chardonnay, Saône-et-Loire, which in turn is thought to be the home of the famous Chardonnay grape variety.

Edward Elgar's Sospiri op. 70 - cello Sol Gabetta

Sospiri, Op. 70, is an adagio for string orchestra, harp (or piano), and organ (or harmonium) composed by Edward Elgar just before the beginning of World War I.

While composing it, however, he realised that he was writing something more intense, and so chose an Italian word, sospiri, meaning "sighs".

Zinnia is a genus of plants of the sunflower tribe within the daisy family.

They are native to scrub and dry grassland in an area stretching from the Southwestern United States to South America, with a centre of diversity in Mexico. Members of the genus are notable for their solitary long-stemmed flowers that come in a variety of bright colours.

The genus name honours German botanist Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727–59)

When I am out and about, like the weeks in Scotland, my main interest is never far from my brain, I always scan for ‘bounty, so, I brought back, found on the ground: dried leaves that i think are different, Maple-copters, Mountain Ash berries, small cones and rose-bottles.

These here made me think of the chrysalis of moth or butterfly....

No, not a proper butterfly one, but a leaf (less than 3cm that thinks it is a Chrysalis, LOL

The pupae of different groups of insects have different names such as chrysalis for the pupae of butterflies.

The term is derived from the metallic gold-coloration found in the pupae of many butterflies, referred to by the Greek term χρυσός (chrysós) for gold.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”

― Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

I am NOT a 'WORKAHOLIC'. I only constantly aim to see the end result!

"Just Joey" is a Hybrid Tea Rose and has a fruity fragrance ( to me it smells like ripe raspberries mmmmmm) which wafts from large ruffled salmon blooms, once opened.

This superstar rose is from England. Just Joey roses were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1994.

The flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems.

Each blousy flower can grow to 8-12.5 cm wide. Hybrid Teas are the world's most popular type of rose by choice due to their colour and flower form.

With their long stems, it gives them the advantage, over others, as cut flowers.

Most shrubs tend to be very upright, reaching up to 1.8 metres and are recurrent-flowering (flowering constantly during the season, unlike wild dog roses that flower once).

Cotoneaster species are used as larval food plants by some Lepidoptera species including grey dagger, mottled umber, short-cloaked moth, winter moth and hawthorn moth.

The flowers attract bees and butterflies and the fruits are eaten by birds.

Although relatively few species are native here, in the UK and Ireland, Cotoneaster species are used, along with the related genus Pyracantha, as a valuable source of nectar when often the bees have little other forage in the June gap.

The red berries are also highly attractive to blackbirds and other thrushes.

These were still orange, it was early October, they get even brighter!

I brought back a lot of interesting samples with me from Scotland, to photograph in Studio Indigo.

How do I do this??

Minute amounts of water, windfall samples - organic and mineral - are collected from the very landscape depicted within each picture - and chemically bonded with the film over 12 months. The result: a developed film and unedited, printed images that are somewhere between a classic photograph and a totally abstract image, depicting the interaction between fundamental chemical elements present at each place & time, representing a more visceral and literal experience of being present in landscapes in a constant state of natural or unnatural flux.

… Tulips

A superb mixed bouquet of Tulips.

Cornucopia or the horn of plenty, a symbol of abundance and nourishment.

This image nourishes my heart and soul, well all of my senses.

Take care, be safe!

Have a lovely day and thank you for viewing, M, (*_*)

#AbFav_PHOTOSTORY

The dried Pale Roses.

We live in uncertain times, MUST care for each other, do what is right: Please give PEACE a chance?

For ALL our sakes?

Please, invite more of your friends to join in and plant flowers in our beautiful garden for PEACE?

I created a group on FB, NO, not a 'FLOWER'-group... so sad about all the terrible news constantly...

PLEASE, join, invite your friends to 'PLANT' their most beautiful flowers in this garden... for PEACE.

Thank you and have a peaceful day, M, (*_*)
