the Fuchsias are in bloom, the dainty little dancers...

They are doing soooo well.

Fuchsia from my garden. So delicate and pretty and in one of my favourite colour-combinations!

The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) in 1703 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier.

He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs.

This is one of the varieties, plump, with a red tutu and white nickers? LOL

forming a flower-carpet, they are out, for sale now, all waiting for the transplant in someone’s much loved garden.

It is still early in the year, and they tremble in the chilly wind.

The flowers still quite hidden, frightened to come out.

The word primula is the Latin feminine diminutive of primus, meaning first (prime), applied to flowers that are among the first to open in Spring.

Hope this brings a bit of joy again, have a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

The petal of a parrot tulip, dropped off and was caught on the leaf.

Now I love images that are different, and this here truly captured my imagination!

Beyond the obvious!

Love it!

Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new.

Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me.

DIGNITY in BLUE, Centaurea Montana.

Centaurea is a genus of between 350 and 600 species of herbaceous thistle-like flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.

Members of the genus are found only north of the equator, mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Common names for this genus are centaury, centory, starthistles, knapweeds, centaureas and the more ambiguous "bluets" (in French); a vernacular name used for these plants in parts of England is common knapweed.

A classic cottage garden plant, the blue cornflowers cut well for arrangements and they are attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Deadhead to encourage further flowering.

We always have a smaller studio in our home, in between things there is time for some of my favourite photography, playing with lights...

Went to the 'end of the market' for a cheap deal on flowers (my props), 6 bunches for £ 2, chose from whatever is left.

I was fortunate, blue Irises, blue Hyacinths, pink Tulips, Tiger Lilies, what a delight, they perfume our whole house!

This is one flower image of many!

Brought these, as they looked ready, only when I looked through the viewer did I spot the bumble bee, it stayed there the whole time, I thought is was dead, but no, it was just gorging on the pollen.

After the shoot, I put it outside and loaded, it flew off in freedom!

Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins, mostly in the family Asteraceae.

Prickles occur all over the plant – on surfaces such as those of the stem and flat parts of leaves.

These are an adaptation that protects the plant against herbivorous animals, discouraging them from feeding on the plant.

Interesting bit: Carduus is the Latin term for a thistle (hence cardoon, and chardon in French), and Cardonnacum is the Latin word for a place with thistles.

This is believed to be the origin of name of the Burgundy village of Chardonnay, Saône-et-Loire, which in turn is thought to be the home of the famous Chardonnay grape variety.

I wish you all the very best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments, likes and faves. Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

Another one of my 'FLOWER-STUDIES'.

PART I

Dandelions are once again sprouting up all over, prompting the city, lawn-care specialists and amateur gardeners alike to again declare war on the broad leaf weed.

A dandelion is really many tiny flowers bunched together.

Each little flower becomes a seed...

We don't like them in our gardens.

AND YET: The dandelion plant is a beneficial weed, with a wide range of uses, and is even a good companion plant for gardening.

Its taproot will bring up nutrients for shallower-rooting plants, and add minerals and nitrogen to soil.

It is also known to attract pollinating insects and release ethylene gas which helps fruit to ripen.

Taraxacum seeds are an important food source for certain birds.

Great in a salad etc...

Take care, be safe!

Enjoy and make the BEST of every day! Thank you, M, (*_*)

The blackberry is an edible fruit produced by many species in the genus Rubus in the family Rosaceae.

Very thorny!

Blackberry fruits are red before they are ripe, leading to an old expression that "blackberries are red when they're green".

The seeds contain oil rich in omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) and omega-6 (linoleic acid) fats as well as protein, dietary fibre, carotenoids, ellagitannins, and ellagic acid.

Folklore in the United Kingdom tells that blackberries should not be picked after Old Michaelmas Day (11 October) as the devil (or a Púca) has made them unfit to eat by stepping, spitting or fouling on them.

There is some value in this legend as autumn's wetter and cooler weather often allows the fruit to become infected by various molds such as Botryotinia which give the fruit an unpleasant look and may be toxic.

Have a lovely day and as always, THANK you for your time, M, (*_*)

From a garden in Flanders.

Brought some cuttings given by a friend with a lovely and opulent garden.

Sorbus is a genus of about 100–200 species of trees and shrubs in the rose family Rosaceae. Species of Sorbus are commonly known as white-beam, rowan, service tree and mountain-ash.

This upright, tree is the most compact of the Rowan trees making it ideal for small gardens. Fluffy, white corymbs of flowers appear in April-May that are popular with bees.

Mid/dark green pinnate foliage turns vibrant shades of orange and red in the autumn which complements the reddish orange berries that hang in heavy clusters and are a treat for the birds.

Popular folklore maintains that a heavy crop of fruit means a hard or difficult winter. Similarly, in Finland and Sweden, the number of fruit on the trees was used as a predictor of the snow cover during winter.

However, as fruit production for a given summer is related to weather conditions the previous summer, with warm, dry summers increasing the amount of stored sugars available for subsequent flower and fruit production, it has no predictive relationship to the weather of the next winter.

Have a great day and thanks for viewing, M, (*_*)

How do I do this??

Minute amounts of water, windfall samples - organic and mineral - are collected from the very landscape depicted within each picture - and chemically bonded with the film over 12 months. The result: a developed film and unedited, printed images that are somewhere between a classic photograph and a totally abstract image, depicting the interaction between fundamental chemical elements present at each place & time, representing a more visceral and literal experience of being present in landscapes in a constant state of natural or unnatural flux.

The name Chrysanthemum is derived from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower)

Chrysanthemums, sometimes called mums or Chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae.

They are native to Asia and northeastern Europe.

Most species originate from East Asia and the centre of diversity is in China.

Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC.

The flower was brought to the Western World in the 17th century. There are about 40 valid species and countless horticultural varieties and cultivars.

For many years, chrysanthemum signifies praise and admiration.

A chrysanthemum is considered as a noble flower of the Chinese noble class.

The basal leaves are three-lobed, with leaves higher on the stems more deeply divided; like the stems, they are downy or hairy.

The flowers are 3–5 cm diameter, variably red to pink, yellow, or white, with one to several flowers on each stem.

A typical Yorkshire Dales' view, with old gnarled trees, the sheep and the ever ongoing dry-stone walls drawing dark dividing lines through the land.

The light was golden, the air crisp and clear, I love Winter.

It reminds me of the paintings of one of the Brueghel's.

Since it was taken with 400 asa film, I reduced the grain for once, however the main reason was to get that 'paint' effect that the famous Flemish painter's family BRUEGHEL and others put in their paintings.

This was how I saw it, a bright sky and some mystery in the trees, the cold wind gently blurring my tear-filled eyes.

This image is an artistic interpretation.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”

― Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

I am NOT a 'WORKAHOLIC'. I only constantly aim to see the end result!

"Just Joey" is a Hybrid Tea Rose and has a fruity fragrance ( to me it smells like ripe raspberries mmmmmm) which wafts from large ruffled salmon blooms, once opened.

This superstar rose is from England. Just Joey roses were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1994.

The flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems.

Each blousy flower can grow to 8-12.5 cm wide. Hybrid Teas are the world's most popular type of rose by choice due to their colour and flower form.

With their long stems, it gives them the advantage, over others, as cut flowers.

Most shrubs tend to be very upright, reaching up to 1.8 metres and are recurrent-flowering (flowering constantly during the season, unlike wild dog roses that flower once).

Have a wonderful day, and thank you for your time and comments, M, (*_*)

two tulips, singing their love song.

Leaves touching, like hands, over heart, like two lovers, never wanting to let go…

Aaah, the joys of an (over)active imagination? LOL

Hope you have a day full of love and thanx for visiting and commenting, Magda, (*_*)

I love Ranunculus, the blooms opened beautifully, not always evident, their stems are extremely delicate and do tend to just collapse before the bud can open into a gorgeous voluptuous bloom...

So tightly petalled and ruffled!

For years I 'experimented' in the studio, to get that Flemish painter's light?

Well, I was born in Flanders, it must be in my blood? LOL.

OOPS, do not get Orange overdose!

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comment on my images, M, (* _ *)

LOTS of LOVE!!!

They say love is blind?

I say: COLOUR-BLIND, LOL

And ‘optimism’ and positivity?

All from our garden.

These dainty white roses are small and non-fragrant.

The buds no more than 2cm, and the blooms about 5cm diameter, so much beauty in such little flowers!

The plump pink Rose is called Cherry Parfait and also Fire and Ice, you can see why!

These two speak to me, of love, tenderness, togetherness…

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

Like I say, my images are made on the rhythm of music, some classic, some jazzy, some traditional, some trendy (only the good stuff!) like this here:

Rose Rouge by Saint Germain

The rose is very ‘curvy’, vibrant bright and oh so beautiful.
