Another image for this weeks MOOC class project.

I am putting this one under the Rule of Thirds composition heading, as that was my intended format when I cropped the image. I wanted all the action in the center 3d.

It could also go into the the Head On category as well. I guess I need to figure that out.

This little wasp was in among the Beautyberries. The patch was super busy with all kinds of insects. The wasp landed and stayed put for a long time. I was able to get myself and phone very close without it getting mad at me.

Captured with the usual kit of iPhone and Olloclip Macro Lens, edited on iPad in Snapseed. Not a lot of editing done, other than a crop and a Vintage filter applied and adjusted.

So I've got 3 pictures. The original is divided in half. Another, I think places the pier better (but loses the yacht), and this one includes the yacht, but loses some of the dramatic cloud.

Not sure which is best, or whether there is yet another option there somewhere

Early light in my back yard brings moments of exquisite beauty in "compositions" I see in the full even when it is part of the whole view. This group of palm fronds is from what I think is a "Washingtonian palm", a "volunteer plant" near the back fence. It is now about 10' tall and 9' across It is growing more like a full bush than a tree. It has really thrived since the tall tree next to it was removed last year. (See those images with this collage.)

Acrylic and oil on a masonite panel - 24"x36"

I did an almost complete acrylic under-painting and then finished things off with oil glazes and detail work. This was my first time working with oil paint and I'm fairly happy with the results - at the very least I'm enthusiastic to work with oil paint in the future.

Thanks for looking and / or commenting, much appreciated as always...

Compositionally Challenged week 25 is Smiles. This is SOOC. I was walking around, camera in hand, looking for something for Week 25. Charlie ran in front of me, flopped down, and started squirming. I pointed the camera at him, and this was the shot I found right in front of me.

Whenever my cats do that, I always think it's their way of saying "Aren't I cute? Don't you feel the need to stop what you're doing and pay attention to me?"

How can I ignore that?

How can I not smile?
