First major stab at photo compositing. Had some small compositing gigs with CMT, but nothing to write home about.

This is my attempt to composite a couple of month's worth of sunsets to show the progression of the sun along the horizon. I did it with layers in Paintshop Pro, setting the opacity of each layer to 33% (there are three layers). Not sure if it worked or not!
A composite of images taken of the lunar eclipse on December 21st, 2010 (the winter solstice!), from about 1:45am - 2:45am EST.

Here's another composite image done with the help of my friend Evan. This is something we're trying to perfect. These images are very labor intensive. Every component of the photograph is lit with a flash or flashlight. They will often consist of over 50 layer masks in Photoshop. We are constantly impressed with the results. The lighting effects become surreal and the car often ends up looking like it was photographed with very expensive studio lighting.
I'm looking forward to trying this technique with a snow covered night scene.
And here's Evan's version www.flickr.com/photos/evanmschmitt/6267689209/in/photostream
Friday, Chad and Jeff attended an advanced composite fabrication workshop at the Kreysler & Associates manufacturing facility near Vallejo, California. The day started with a broad overview of composite technology and its applications for architecture. Attendees were then taken on a tour of the facility and watched demonstrations of carbon fiber being infused with resin by vacuum and closed-mold methods. At the time of the tour, the facility was being used to produce the cladding for SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art)’s new expansion, designed by Snøhetta, and participants witnessed each stage of the fabrication process for the unique panel system. We are excited by the possibilities and potential uses of this strong and lightweight material because is stronger and lighter than steel and comes in any color, texture, shape, or size.
A composite image I did when I was bored the other day. I like seeing what cool images I can find on Flickr and then making something from them.
Done in about 20 minutes, so it's not perfect. (especially the girl selections hehe)
This was made from 3 different photos.
The Beach, sky, and girls.

A "clean" version of this composite.
This is made up of several shots, taken with my Canon EF-S 60mm lens and stitched together in Photoshop. Can you see the edges? Take a look at the "original" size to see the level of detail! (Oh, and that's scaled down a lot too!)

This is another example of where I considered the different lighting environments, I done a simple layer mask but then done an adjustment layer to warm the colours and make it look more realistic as the image itself is under tungsten light so it has orange and yellow tones to it so I changed the composite so that it would fit in and look realistic.
