Assignment for my Digital Imaging class. We had to have 5 different photos and 5 layers. I decided to make my first attempt at a self portrait composite.

There are 10 people in the swap. Each person makes a zentangle string and then cuts it in either 9 or 10 pieces (depending on whether they want to do a piece of their own). They then mail all the pieces out to their partners (one piece to each partner). The partners complete the pieces and send them back to the owner (the person who drew the string). When all the pieces are received they will be put back together in one large COMPOSITE zentangle!
Shown is UD carbon tape and 2x2 twill cloth. Carbon fiber is almost more interesting in its base form.
No doubt identifying Composites by the form of their fruits would be just as feasible as distinguishing species of moss that at first glance look more or less identical. I have it in my mind to at some point try to apply some of the lessons I've learned in bryology, to identifying species of flowering plant that I lump together as Composite, Hawkweed / Hawkbit and so on.
