Compositing [two images]: create two images of an alternate reality. The space should be continuous (not like collage), but you've manipulated the scene to create a seamless alternate universe of some kind
This composite was created with four images.
In the corner of the sky,
Tucked behind a cloud,
Is a place of unfathomable wonder.
There is one problem.
That is,
Where do you find a corner in the sky?
Perhaps easier to find is this -
The space under a levitating tree
If you are lucky,
You will find it.
For the tree will not pause,
Above the ground forever.
It will gently reach its roots
Back to the earth
And it will settle itself,
Grounded.
But,
Sometimes, when
There is a glitch in the Universe,
It will not settle.
And in that space,
Between ground and tree,
Amongst those gentle roots,
We will find a look
Into the place where,
Our imagination lives.
And we will take comfort
In knowing it exists.
And it will lead us to places within ourselves
Only before known, maybe,
To the imagination.

Oriental composite bows in Yafo's flea market. The composite bow is the most powerful bow ever created, even stronger than the English longbow, and capable of shooting an arrow to more than 800 meters range.
The finale of the 4th of July fireworks show in Green Valley Ranch (near Denver), Colorado was spectacular. Unfortunately, I was mesmerized watching it and left the shutter open for the entire finale. All I got was a bunch of white streaks - the large amount of fireworks overwhelmed the sensor! So I have tried my hand at digital compositing, combining bursts from 5-6 other pictures to make this. It's not as good as the real thing, but it's getting there... not bad for a first attempt at compositing.
This won best of show at an art show in Arizona. The chief judge thought it was a painting. Nope. It's actually four separate photos blended together. Two birdhouses were next to a restaurant in Illinois near my house. I constructed the 3rd birdhouse from the other two. But the background of the restaurant sucked. The ivy I found a few weeks later in an alley in an industrial area of Chicago.
Here is the first composite attempt. As a composite, the only part that is composited is the black foreground. As far as subject matter, it does still pertain to the desert foreground in front of a sunset, with the wild aspect being shown with the silhouettes of the plants. The concept fell short because there isn't a great visualization of the passage of time. Going back to the foreground still being layered, I think this actually benefited the photos a lot because I accidently has the ISO really high, so layering the photos helped to reduce the grain. Lastly, the sky replaced sunset makes the photo more visually appealing although not tying into the composites.
This was taken about 1:30 AM. The light is a combination of 3/4 moon light, and the infernal vapor light in my parking lot. You can see where a hover car drove through the exposure.

second night in a row last September we chased the moon.
Assurances that the moon would be in this position were sadly not lived up to...
in my frustration I did my best to get the two exposures and merge them together.
