Composite of exposures; 1.3s @ ISO 1600 for lunar disk and 30s @ ISO 3200 for the background stars. Processed in GIMP, some faint stars surrounding the moon were removed when erasing the glow, but otherwise, this pretty well approximates the view as seen through a telescope or binoculars. Camera was a Fuji X-M1 attached to Skywatcher Equinox 80ED with an Orion 0.8x focal reducer/field flattener.
Composite photograph from to sources – my post to Gimp Challenge #33 (Lines):
Edited with GIMP: Rotated and moved upper layer to fit with base layer. Combined both layers in mode "lighten only" with 70% transparency, erasing visible overlappings (needs seperate, black background-layer, else there are holes!), adjusted colors/contrast/curves, highpass sharpening (Meet The Gimp #164).

A composite of early glass re-set in St Stephen's chapel, Bures. The kneeling figure may be that of St Gregory, as a chalice has been placed above him to the left but it is possible that these are from different sources and that they have been placed together to suggest the Mass of St Gregory. The tiny figure above more closely resembles God the Father than the Crucified Christ of the saint's vision and the peeping angel may come from yet another source.
The central figure appears to be of Flemish or German origin. It is possible that the glass came from the demolished Earls Colne priory.
Inspired by Heather's composities. (I don't know her, I just like her photography.) View large for more detail.
I was sitting on console early this morning without much to do. We docked on Monday, and since I work in the rendezvous group, our workload is very light while the shuttle is attached to the space station. Today I busied myself with analyzing some of the sensor data we got from the rendezvous. (I wasn't even logged on to the main workstation, I was simply using the PC.) We'll get busy again when we undock next week.
Composite patchwork made of elements of at least three separate figures, the undersized head appears to be early 16th century from a different hand, therefore later and unrelated to the chapel glass and probably originating from elsewhere in the church (perhaps the Dean's Chapel).
Detail of the east window glazed by the royal glazier John Prudde in 1447 with some of the most luxuriant stained glass available at the time. The seven lights originally most likely contained in the upper register a now lost central group of the Trinity crowning Mary to whom the chapel was dedicated (only three radiances remain in the cusped heads) flanked by four saints, St Thomas Becket, St Alban, St Winifred and St John of Bridlington (the only complete figures remaining in situ). The lower register appears to have been a display of kneeling donor figures of the Beauchamp family, with Richard in/near the centre (his is the only figure to survive, though his head is lost and replaced by that of one of his daughters!).
The bulk of this glass was tragically lost when the chapel was attacked by Cromwellian troops in 1643 (it is possible the chapel was locked and all this was done from outside as the tombs and statuary survived undamaged). The six side windows were a complete loss below the traceries and have remained plain-glazed ever since, but the surviving figures were used to fill the large gaps left in the east window to give the patchwork display we see today.
The gorgeous Beauchamp Chapel at St Mary's, Warwick is perhaps the best preserved example of a medieval church interior in England. I have been in love with it ever since my first childhood visit, and it remains my favourite room in all England.
The chapel is rich in excellent monuments, of which the tomb of Richard Beauchamp, the chapel's founder, is the most impressive with magnificent gilt bronze sculptures, an extremely rare survival.
Equally spectacular is the delightful east window, which is filled with superb 15th century glass by John Prudde, the King's glazier. Much if it is not in situ, since Cromwell's troops wrought havoc with the glass here and the surviving figures were assembled in this window (only the outer pairs of figures in the upper row are in their original positions). The north and south windows retain original glass only in their traceries and the cusped heads of the main lights, and knowing the quality of the surviving elements makes this loss all the more grievous.
A further treasure of this chapel and a miraculous survivor of Cromwells fanatics is the statuary surrounding the east window. This unique display of almost perfectly preserved figure sculpture from the early 15th century is exquisite, and gives an answer to all those empty niches we see in so many medieval churches elsewhere in England. The medieval splendour is further echoed by the use of colour on the sculptures and vaulted ceiling, all redone in the mid 20th century but based on medieval precedents.

CTG designs and manufactures bespoke propshafts for each client and vehicle. A propshaft is a critical drivetrain transmission component found connecting many multi-drive or rear wheel drivetrain vehicles – they primarily transmit torque and rotate at high speeds.
Carbon fibre composites are an ideal material as they offer high torsional strengths but yet a high stiffness/weight ratio. This results in low weight and inertia with improved drivetrain performance to enable longer shafts to run at higher speeds; subsequently reducing the number of piece parts required.
Toying around with compositing color and infrared images in PS - this image is comprised of an infrared layer mixed as Red, and a color layer channel shifted green for red and blue for green. It comes out looking kind of fun I think.

I find myself doing a lot of reflecting lately...maybe that's part of what inspired this piece. I also find myself worrying about the future of the world for our children which is part of the reason for the war / post apocolyptic feel.
