A photo composite I constructed today to represent this flighty feeling that I’ve been having. It feels like I’m falling through space at times and can’t control anything that is around me or in my life. It’s as if I’ve been placed on some trajectory that is as strong as gravity. I cannot defy it, and I cannot move from it. It’s hard to tell whether this brings me satisfaction in life or joy, and whether this brings me towards what many would call soaring, or if I’m not flying at all and just tumbling towards destruction.

i attended a lecture by the photographer Peter Gennard yesterday, so was inspired to have a little play with creating a composite image.
I have been playing a lot with Mecabricks and Blender recently, and while working on my posters realized it would be a great tool to help with cleaning up my photos - I could use a digital double to generate selection masks, add lighting effects, and remove support bricks. Here's a proof of concept I did over the last couple days showing the original image, the render I created to match, and the final composite image. I painted out the supports, replaced the far wing, and adding lights in the blue gun tips.
I don't think I've seen this done before, but I know there are some really talented builder/renderer/artists out there so I'm curious to see what other people can do with this stuff.
Learning from my last attempt at this, I realized have either a slope or shooting from above would work better than ground level. This time I chose a Slope.

Okay so I'm completely in love with the idea of conceptual composites. I must have spent hours trawling through photographers' work looking at their photos and wishing I could do the same. A few months ago I attempted an "angel" composite and had great feedback. I've never been taught how to composite properly so I've kinda just taught myself and I probably do everything wrong and backwards but hey, here's a photo of my boyfriend and some birds.

For this work i used some photos of mine about an ancient Portuguese tile taken in Sintra, a modern wooden fruit basket viewed from above, my cuisine clock, an unfocused television command, a macro detail of a lamp.
All elements were transformed in color, by digital painting, by deformation, by geometric cuts and using outline techniques. In the final art collage, color changing and layering.

Practicing composites again. Wigan has a wide range of metal sculptures across the borough - I think this pair of hands is in Ince.
An exercise in digital compositing. Model shot strobist style against a blue chroma background with 2 sb-24 flashes. One from camera right at full power trough umbrella. The other bare from camera left behind the model at 1/8 or 1/16. I really should have gone with some proper studio heads, as I had to use ISO 400 and the recycling time of the main light got pretty long. Balloons modeled and simulated with nCloth in Maya and rendered with Maxwell.

Composite Superman has now been my current most favourite superman villian, purely because of how awesome he is! (and maybe a bit of robot chicken did something to help that) i was actually surprise lego didn't took a gamble and made him. tho to be granted i don't think they would know how to tackle the new hair helmet mold.
So, what does my fig have new to the table of parts? the first ever duel molded lego torso! Cause i figured if lego can do arms and legs in duel molding, why not heads or torsos (maybe for a future twoface? ;) ) the first one is more of a classic comics style superman and the second (tho not really different) has batman in a more modern approach. i think the classic one still looks cool
TBH i actually tried to make a real composite superman with real lego parts and a pair of pliers (if i find it i will show ya) and it turns out it is ALMOST possible to make a purist composite superman. Key is using the harley quin legs (weither red and black for the modern or red and blue for the classic) and if you have the parts like a pair of duel molded red and blue boots and black and gray boots, then basically you made the legs of composite superman
I took the osprey photo on August 9, 2014 with a plain gray sky so I found and old moon/sky shot and made a composite just for fun.

Sticking with a composite again today. Five images used in this one. The sky is from Cathkin Marsh, the background building is Longleat House, the archway is the link building at Glasgow City Chambers, the figure is from the V&A Dundee and is of the display of one of Natalie Portman's dresses from Start Wars: The Phantom Menace and the skull is a halloween decoration.
