Terese and Bekah compare their goods. Terese wins.

Here is a doll comparison that I hope will help a fellow doll collector who is having trouble matching the right body for an ITBE Desirable head. He's hoping to find a Nuface body that matches but there are so many variations of Caucasian skin tone. If anybody has had any experience with matching this particular head we would both appreciate any input you can offer.

Comparing the Canon S100 and the Panasonic GX1. Close up shot. Relatively same focal length and aperture on ISO 200. The GX1 shot is a bit noisy because I "pulled" the background, which was a bit underexposed, in order to show the DOF on both. As requested by someone.

A comparison of Travelcards six years apart is seen here. The top is the original 'Capitalcard' incarnation as launched in 1986 with the later Travelcard showing detail differences including the reversing of the BR and LUL logos and addition of a mention of Zone 6, whereas the earlier ticket only mentions Zone 5 (was there only 5 Travelcard Zones originally?).

The right one is shimmery and more pink, similar to Boo York Nefera, but not the same.

Here's the test set up.

Well, I finally got to try out AviStack (the latest release can handle 16-bit images), and here's a quick comparison using the default settings. Wavelet sharpening was done in RegiStax to ensure consistency, and the post-processing steps in Photoshop were identical.

The differences between the centre crops near the terminator are virtually imperceptible (at least to my eyes), but when you move out towards the limb (where RegiStax was unable to use any alignment points due to the lack of high-contrast features), the AviStack version becomes noticeably sharper. This is best seen on the large version. It's a subtle improvement, but it's a good start (and it's faster).

The full-size version is available here.

It'll be interesting to see how the next release of RegiStax shapes up.

Here are comparison shots of the old Dragon Priest mold (left) vs. the new one (right). I've tagged the old air bubbles and cancers or impurities. You might also notice by the sheen of the new cast how much smoother the new mold is.

I got asked to take comparison photo between this new light violet that my silky is, and between soom white skin. Sadly, i don't have new white skin, only very old ones, as if original Ai and Beyla. But I decided to compare all teenie gem colours I have. As in, there's now old white skin, new light violet, old gray skin from original bygg, and old snow blue from original taco :)

Some new test scans.

Woohoo for proper scale! V2 of my CCKW with V3 of my Jeep. Pretty well scaled, no? :)

The Version 2 Kid Delf could do this, I assume because of the pegs in her hip sockets.

Sadly, I've already taken Matoran Auron apart.

Another shot in my series of experimentation with image stacking. This was shot has no artistic value but demonstrates the potential of this method to replicate the effect of a heavy ND filter without getting colour casts and potentially with sharper non-moving objects through use of a higher shutter speed.

This comparison shows a quick 5 shot stack (on the left) and an individual image on the right.

I took this sequence of 5 shots hand held over about 12 seconds i.e. one shot every 3 seconds.

Clearly the results would be better with a tripod and shutter release to avoid movement of the framing between shots.

I can see that maybe 5-10 shots over what ever time interval you want to replicate could easily replicate the effects of a 10 stop filter with some ancillary benefits as follows:

- use of higher shutter speed means less chance for camera movement and loss of sharpness

- higher shutter speed means tha moving objects (like cars) could be captured. It may be possible to stack shots to captur a trail ofa moving car. This is something the ND filter generally can't achieve as the car flashing through the scene won't give enough light to register (unlike on a night time long exposure). This is both a positive and negative aspect.

I would be keen to trial the concept of capturing car trails during daylight and similarly something like ferry trails on the harbour whilst having long exposure water and full daylight.

The same principals could be applied to seascapes and wave motion.

what will it be today, with or without

This is my final image. I've prepared a 200% comparison of the upper left corner of the building, right hand middle of the scene and bottom center of the image. This shows the Autopano corrected image vs the photoshop corrected image. These are 200% screen dumps although I had shrunk the image down to be only 3840 pixels high so this is not representative of the final resolution of the image. The purpose here is to compare the quality of the warping with regards to the finished pixels.

To my eye the Autopano image looks nice but I have not been consistent with my processing. Therefore its hard to compare absolutely other than to say both methods seem to produce acceptable quality from a resoultion and sharpness perspective.

I am largely just working out my processes just in case I get the opportunity to compare stitching vs tilt shift lenses

Comparing an original Tristen head and a slightly shrunken Melrose head.

It's SO hard to capture the subtle difference in size in a picture, but I promise you, the shrunken head has actually shrunk, be it only a few millimeters. :)
