The markings on this beautiful Calla lily looked exotic and quite tiger like...hence the caption.Outstanding glorious shades and colours. Were really striking when seen.
Best viewed on black.

Just got news from my boarding house mistress that there was a miscalculation of the number of new boarders coming this year and that i'll have to move rooms to accomadate that mistake. i'm quite annoyed because it took me ages to move rooms, put up all my photos and decorate it perfectly :( and worst of all is that i arrive last at the boarding house and have no time to do all this. i was looking forward to be back but now not so much :/
btw happy belated chinese new year to all the fellow chinese photographers on flickr! AND i apologise for the bad editing in the second photo in comments and the long description, this photo practically sums up how i feel right now.

A sneaky mid-week couple of drinks out on Prince's Avenue with Rebekah and Trisha.
This is another page from my magazine. The entire backbone of the mag was about the new 1% fat milk 'the One' from Wisemans Milk. So, naturally, that theme oozes throughout the design.

Gemma came up again for 2 weeks this time - although there was very little chance to get glammed up and go out, what with everywhere closed.
So, we made the best of our one opportunity, got out Christmas glam on and went to do the big Christmas shop at Tesco. We slayed it! :-)
Afterwards we stopped off to see some beautiful Christmas lights down a terrace. Absolutley fantastic - what a community effort!
Ready to go out - Gemma was still getting ready at this point.

Leeds Pride weekend. Wow. After a far too long 3 year wait since the last one, we had been building up to this!
For me, Leeds Pride weekend is the highlight of the year. And this year it certainly didn't disappoint!
So to Sunday, the day of the parade. Wow, what an overwhelming, beautiful, wonderful day that was! Meeting up with lots of friends we hadn't seen in such a long time, and of course, the parade itself was incredible to experience. I high fived so many kids along the route, and it was so lovely seeing their faces light up as they high fived!
We met up again with our amazing friends who made us the 'You Matter' pine cone which has resonated down the years (see the picture of the pine cone in my album August 2018 for the story) and it's always a privilege to see them, and the lovely Sue too, a friend we made when she saw the story of the pine cone here on Flickr.
I was emotionally drained by the time the parade was over though, so I didn't go back out into Leeds on the evening. But what a day. I'll remember it for ever!
Hotel selfies - Pride ready!

I know that I left everyone hanging and the new pipe was definitely installed in the house but not without incident! At the same time that the pipe was being installed the sheetrock in the attached garage decided that it had been in place long enough and a portion of it decided collapse! Fortunately it landed on the canoes and did fall on the cars. It has been repaired as well! My refrigerator had been repaired numerous times and so they decided to replace it for free under warranty!! Only with they would do the same with my NEW washer with doesn't work properly!
Those were the least of my problems as Georgia once again has some medical issues!! She was diagnosed the first time with Cerebral Fourth Nerve Palsy that causes her to have double vision and made here very disoriented and nauseous! We left the hospital and returned home after the first stay only to return a couple of days later with some stroke-like symptoms in her left arm and hand! After a barrage of tests there were no conclusions as to what caused the symptoms, but both issues have cleared up and she is once again doing splendidly!! I still have some things to take care of and so it will likely be next week before I become involved again!!
I am sorry that I have not answered any emails but things have been a bit hectic here and I know that everyone will understand!! I will get back to everyone in time but am not sure when!! The comments will remain off and I want everyone to know that I appreciate your thoughts and concerns!! Hope everyone is doing well!! Have a wonderful week!!

I usually upload in the wee hours of the night. YAY for night owls!

I went out with my lovely friend Rebekah and we went into town round a few of the bars and pubs.
The day started for me at Piccolo for an amazing breakfast.
After that I popped down to see my Sister who whowed me the awesome and creepy birthday present they had got for my Niece - a couple of creepy dolls on a see-saw. Brilliant!
The evening, Rebekah and I went to The Star to begin with before heading across to the Freedom Quarter, where we saw some great live acts at Monroe's and finished the night in a new bar, Zinnia. It was a great night!
Respectful comments are very welcome.

It's tough to post these pictures while we're in Tier 3 and the restaurant is closed, but I'll power through! ;-)
This was a weekend of eating loads of fantastic food! This evening we were back at Cognac, the local Fench restaurant, eating food fit for princesses! :-) It was amazing, as it always is - the pork main dish we have is divine!
Most Comments: #TheDollEvolves - it's been a...long year filled with change and while a lot of them at the end are existentially scary one good change was the introduction of different body types to playline barbie. Lammily & its founder raise red flags for me for several reasons but the idea itself was good and if nothing else it got mattel to get its act together and work harder. I'm so glad the initial reports of the curvys not being sold in stores was wrong and I'm so grateful to own so many of the new style of barbie. She's really coming for my wallet and I can't even be too mad LOL
Most favorites: Wishery - When thinking over what I wanted these were the ones that stood out to me most and I can proudly say that I own all but 4 of these in particular as well as one or two I never expected to like. Barbie has really turned it around and I am so here for it.
Most Views/Personal Favorite: #BetterTogether - If there's one thing that's helped me cope with the unspeakable things that continue to happen to marginalized groups - some of which I belong to - it's expressing my pain and general emotions through this medium and with dolls. I won't go into my feelings on the pending presidency - since I already have both in this photo and in the one preceding it - and instead will simply say that rather than leave the fear I feel behind (because it's appropriate) I want to instead leave how it incapacitates me. Marginalized people have to fight and fight and fight for things we should already have but if there's one comfort it's that all of us can better do so together and uplift each other in the process.
I have hope for the future but not without a realistic grip on what squaring off is to come and if nothing else I am going to adamantly and aggressively claim the happiness I deserve while doing my best to help others do the same (and that it is my most viewed for the year warms my heart as it shows me we really are all on the same page & in this together).
German postcard by Ross Verlag, no. 4877/1, 1929-1930. Photo: Atelier Ernst Schneider, Berlin / Tauber Tonfilm G.m.b.H.
Austrian opera singer Richard Tauber (1891-1948) was one of the world's finest Mozartian tenors of the 20th century. Some critics commented that "his heart felt every word he sang". He also tested the then-new talking pictures in such popular musical films as Ich küsse Ihre Hand, Madame (1929) with Marlene Dietrich, Das Land des Lächelns (1930) and Melodie der Liebe (1932).
Richard Tauber was the illegitimate son of soubrette Elisabeth Seiffert and actor Richard Anton Tauber. In 1913 he made his stage debut in Mozart's 'The Magic Flute' and he worked up a rich repertoire of roles in such operas as 'Don Giovanni', 'Tosca', and 'Carmen'. Franz Lehár composed several new operettas specifically designed for Tauber's voice, including 'Der Zarewitsch' (1926), 'Friederike' (1928) and 'Das Land des Lächelns' (1929). He made over seven hundred gramophone records, mainly for the Odeon Records label. He also tested the then new talking pictures in such popular musical films as Ich küsse Ihre Hand, Madame (Robert Land, 1929) with Marlene Dietrich, Das Land des Lächelns (Max Reichmann, 1930) and Melodie der Liebe (Georg Jacoby, 1932). He was elegant in appearance. He had a slight squint in his right eye and disguised it by wearing a monocle which, when accompanied by a top hat, added to the elegant effect. For many people he became the epitome of Viennese charm.
In 1933, Richard Tauber was assaulted by a group of Nazi Brownshirts because of his Jewish ancestry, and he decided to leave Germany for his native Austria. Eventually he emigrated to London and appeared in some British musical films. He earned fine notices for his portrayal of composer Franz Schubert in Blossom Time (Paul L. Stein, 1934), as well as for his work in Heart's Desire (Paul L. Stein, 1935), and Land Without Music (Walter Forde, 1936). He married his British co-star Diana Napier. In 1947, Tauber sought help for an aggravated cough which was subsequently diagnosed as lung cancer. He gave a bravura performance as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at Covent Garden and fulfilled this engagement the following day at the Camden Theatre, having begun and ended his formidable career performing Mozart. He died in January 1948. In the musical bio Du bist die Welt für mich (Ernst Marischka, 1953) Rudolf Schock acted and sang the role of Tauber.

Final set of pictures from a very Emily month, especially considering I missed going to Leeds in May! Loads and loads of pictures.
Back to a quiet night in at home after all the outings this month.
