I ran from the hotel to get a picture of this place as I like the wave of glass making up the roof and it was getting late when we arrived.

The Golden Terraces is a commercial, office, and entertainment complex in the center of Warsaw.

It includes 200 shops, restaurants, a hotel, a multiplex cinema (8 screens, 2560 seats, opened on 31 August 2007) and underground parking for 1,400 cars. A transparent roof covers its signature central indoor courtyard. The building cost $500 million.

The mall hosts Poland's first Hard Rock Cafe as well as the first Burger King in the company's second attempt to compete with McDonald's in Poland.

Four different lighthouse have stood on Medway Head. The first combination dwelling and tower was replaced by a similar structure in 1927, but this new two-story dwelling had a hipped roof with a central octagonal lantern room. It was into this lighthouse that Keeper Dougls R. Smiley and his wife Muriel moved in 1959. The Smileys must have been surprised to find that the dwelling lacked inside plumbing and central heating.

The 1927 lighthouse was sold in 1980 to Alden Wamboldt of Massachusetts, who was required to remove the structure from the property. Fortunately, the lighthouse was moved just a short distance from its original site to a hill overlooking the station, allowing visitors to easily photograph two lights in one picture.

Magpie-lark

Scientific Name: Grallina cyanoleuca

Description: The Magpie-lark is distinctively marked in black and white. The thin whitish bill and pale iris separate it from other similarly coloured species. The adult male Magpie-lark has a white eyebrow and black face, while the female has an all-white face with no white eyebrow. Young birds have a black forehead, a white eyebrow and a white throat. The Magpie-lark is often referred to as a Peewee or Pee Wee, after the sound of its distinctive calls.

Similar species: The name Magpie-lark is quite misleading, as the species has no link with either the magpies or the larks. However, the Magpie-lark is sometimes confused with the Australian Magpie, Gymnorhina tibicen. While both species are black and white, the Magpie-lark is noticeably smaller than the Australian Magpie.

Distribution: Magpie-larks are confined to Australasia, being found throughout Australia (although only a rare vagrant to Tasmania), southern New Guinea and Timor.

Habitat: Magpie-larks are found in almost any habitat except rainforests and the driest deserts and are familiar urban birds.

Seasonal movements: Seasonal migrations;non-breeding and young birds form large nomadic flocks, sometimes consisting of several thousand individuals; mainly move north in autumn/winter and south in spring/summer

Feeding: The Magpie-lark is mostly ground-dwelling, and is usually seen slowly searching on the ground for a variety of insects and their larvae, as well as earthworms and freshwater invertebrates.

Breeding: Magpie-larks build an unusual mud nest and generally breed from August to December (though may occasionally breed outside this time). During the breeding season both the male and female gather wet mud and construct a bowl-shaped nest on a horizontal branch, or similar site, often up to 20 m above the ground. The bowl is lined with feathers and grasses. The male and female birds often sit side by side and call alternately, each raising and lowering their wings as they do so. Magpie-larks aggressively defend their nest and territory, which may occupy up to 10 ha. Both parents share the incubation duties and care for the young. If conditions are favourable, more than one brood may be reared in a year. The Magpie-lark's mud nest seems to link it closely with the mud-nest builders of the Family Corcoracidae, the White-winged Chough, and the Apostlebird. But it actually belongs in the Family Dicruridae (Monarchs, Fantails, and Drongos).

Calls: The 'pee-o-wit' or 'pee-wee' call is frequently given as a duet, each bird raising its wings in turn, and has given rise to the colloquial name of Peewee.

Minimum Size: 26cm

Maximum Size: 30cm

Average size: 28cm

Average weight: 92g

Clutch Size: 3 to 5

Thermite welding is the most common method of bonding rail lengths in railway construction, as displayed at a rail yard in Burnie, Tasmania, on May 21, 2022.

Judges’ Comments: A thermite welder in action presents a fountain of hot metal fragments that cascades across this beautifully composed scene of railroad track maintenance. Captured through a telephoto lens, this image poetically depicts both contemporary rail welding technology and digital photography capability at night.

Halloween Leeds First Friday!

Wow, there were so many amazing outfits on show! Not me though - my black lace dress is a little bit goth but that's as close as I got!

With Michelle, Jen and Rachel in the Cosmo. This was a 'forgot to put the bins out' pose but Rachel missed it, and Jen looks like she's about to bite me! Ha ha!

I got myself a makeup ring light and it is a beast! I have had my eye on this for a while and decided to take the plunge. Well worth it too - it's fantastic for doing makeup and for selfies. Will be especially good in hotel rooms where the lighting is somethimes terrible!

Adjustable brightness and frequency so I can chcnge between cool white and warm white light.

Saturday night we went to a lovely Indie night I've been going to on Prince's Avenue called Beat The Clock. Some great tunes all played from vinyl - less mainstream than many nights, some more obscure tracks mixed in with well known ones.

We started the evening with food at Crafted, then went on to 80 Days Bierhaus, then Hoi and finallu upstairs at Hoi to Beat The Clock. A great night!

On the dancefloor with Mike Monroe, one of the organisers of the evening.

Cemetery: Restlawn

Comments:

Restlawn is a flat-stone cemetery run under the auspices of Dignity Memorial, the “largest network of honored funeral, cremation and cemetery providers” in the country, with some 1600 affiliates. From their literature it’s not clear how ownership is distributed. Cemetery displays perhaps ten or more treeless acres up the side of a hill bordering Highway 22. If you’re going to be buried there, I’d recommend as far away from the highway as possible. It’s gone under a number of variations on the Restlawn theme, including such things as Restlawn Memory Gardens and Restlawn Memorial Garden, but the new operators appear to have shortened it to the current short form.

While not advertising itself as such, Restlawn should probably be classified as fundamental Christian, as that’s the predominating theme, with religious tableaus and the cemetery divided into religious “gardens,” though ones devoid of plants or flowers. It has one exception to the “no uprights” rule, that of a “freeform” monument to Donald Walters (1969-2003). Donald’s marker is testimony to much more than a young man cut down in his prime, it’s a prime example of a recent phenomenon in the cemetery trade: carrying ones cause to the tomb. For the most part, people in their departure take the opportunity to get right with their god or be remembered by their friends for the good they brought into the world, but now, on the fringes, some people are taking their anger with them to the grave. One expects to see a clenched fist pushing out of the ground.

Or maybe not. Maybe it’s more the living taking advantage of the dead by using their name to further their own agenda. Like historical markers, memorials such as that for Donald say more about those who erect them than the events themselves. I’d bet your bottom dollar that Donald, whose stone lists: “Operation Desert Storm/ Operation Iraqi Freedom - KIA - POW/ 507th Maintenance Co.,” didn’t provide his own epitaph. It wasn’t his idea to make him into a cause celèbre. The back of his headstone contains the long epitaph:

“I would lay down my life for my family and nation if it was worth it, and this one is to let them appreciate the taste of their freedoms. Freedom isn’t free and someone must do what they must do to preserve it. The Bible states, “Blessed is he who lays down his life for the sake of his friends.” I fear not and am motivated by the fear of the unknown and being a part of the bigger picture. Whatever doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.”

Was that passage taken from a letter from Donald? Part of it? Was it a compilation? Who chose? There are many other veterans from many other wars in Restlawn; none of them lists their operations name rather than their war. And none of them gets an upright; only Donald. Donald gets a picture under glass too: hunched down on one knee, dressed in camouflage, but not combat gear. When he returned from his first tour of duty in Kuwait, he was “a changed man,” his father said. “He was super nervous, which is understandable. He saw horrible things.”

Nonetheless, he reenlisted in the Army Reserves and returned to the Middle East for the next war. In Iraq he was a cook, but his parents didn’t know what he did in Kuwait. He was, by all accounts, an accidental soldier. He wasn’t seeking combat, it sought him. He was satisfied with being a cook, but an ambush made him a soldier.

Donald’s tombstone says, somewhat ambiguously, that he was both “killed in action” and was a “prisoner of war.” Reading through the various accounts of what happened, all we really know is that a convoy in which he was riding was attacked and all but a handful of the American soldiers were killed, the rest taken prisoners and subsequently executed. Donald was among those taken prisoner. One can only imagine it would have been best to be killed in the first round.

Would Donald have so freely tossed out the tired clichés: “freedom isn’t free,” and “whatever doesn’t kill you will make you stronger”? How is it that he “fear[s] not,” yet is “motivated by the fear of the unknown and being a part of a bigger picture”? What does it mean to fear “being a part of a bigger picture”?

The modern politicization of death is further emphasized at Restlawn by a handsome plaque “In Memory of all Vietnam Veterans,” a recent addition these many years after the fact. It has an embossed compilation scene of action in Vietnam:

“This memorial was erected in memory of the young individuals who went to war as kids and lost their youthful dreams, and some their lives, for a cause - freedom and honor - and came back as men with the horrors of war instilled in every fiber of their being and were never given the respect and honor they so deeply deserved from the public or the United States government.

“God will one day judge our actions. Until then, He will shine on the lives of each veteran now and forever more because He was with each of them in Vietnam. He is the only One that truly knows what they went through and are living with every day.”

As with Donald’s stone, sad and unfortunate confusion clouds reason and judgment. Surely, God was with the Vietnamese soldiers as much as with the Americans. After all, they won. And whether or not a soldier deserves “respect and honor” depends, I presume, on which end of the barrel you’re visiting.

All of which begs the question of whether or not Vietnam was about “freedom and honor” any more than the Gulf Wars were. Not to mention the question of “where does the love of God go, when the minutes they turn into hours”? One might want to be cautious about welcoming God’s judgment.

We're back at the Monaco Ballroom on Friday December 12th for the final show of 2008!! Make sure you make it to see how the year's feuds end at this season ending super show - GPW: "Christmas Crunch"

We promise we wont crunch your credit.... we'll only crunch your Christmas!!

GPW Heavyweight Title Match

Bubblegum © vs. Dirk Feelgood

Just a few months ago you'd be forgiven for taking a double take at this match. The friendship between the two former friends totally imploded with the desire to become Heavyweight champion. Refusing to accept the demise of his friendship with Dirk Feelgood, Bubblegum spent months in turmoil not wanting to retaliate to the cutting comments and brutal attacks levelled his way by former friend and champion Feelgood. As time went by however, Bubblegum eventually unloaded on Feelgood but this will be the first time the two have ever come face to face in a one on one match. And to make things just a little more interesting... it's for the GPW Heavyweight Title. Can the fairytale championship reign continue for Bubblegum, or can Dirk shatter his dreams and become the first ever 2 time Heavyweight Champ?

Tag Team Special, Skeletor vs. Stella

Lethal Dose vs. Voodoo & "Sober" Mike Holmes

Alan Alan Alan Tasker's henchmen, Lethal Dose march into battle against former stable member Mike Holmes and the man they hold responsible for Holmes' new found sobriety - Voodoo. Cyanide and Toxic hope to tempt Holmes back over to the stable that two months ago he turned his back on. They want to snap him out of the spell they accuse Voodoo of putting him under. However, Holmes seems very happy with his new outlook on life and he and Voodoo look to send Lethal Dose packing in this tag team special. Lethal Dose have warned they will not be coming to the ring alone though, with them along with their attorney and law - Alan Alan Alan Tasker will be a 12 pack of Stella. Hoping the case of beer will prove to be a bigger demon to Holmes than the tag team itself. To fend off the 12 pack, Holmes and Voodoo will have Vooodoo's trusty skull, Skeletor in their corner. An unpredictable tag team match. Can MIke Holmes stay sober? Will Voodoo's spells work? Or will Lethal Dose deliver a beating big enough to break Voodoo's spell?

GPW British Title Match

Jak Dominotrescu vs. "Super" Sam Bailey

After pinning the British Champion last month in a tag team match, WKD's "Super" Sam Bailey has earned himself a title shot at GPW: "Christmas Crunch". Bailey, already a former tag team champion looks to add to his growing reputation by capturing his first ever singles gold in GPW. While reigning champion, Romanian Jak Domitrescu along with his cohorts - The Eastern Bloc look to make life as difficult as possible for the energetic live wire. Domitrescu has held onto the title since April this year with help from his fellow countrymen, but are his days numbered as champ? He surely wont be alone in this title outing and will have the Eastern Bloc close by, but can "Super" Sam Bailey overcome the odds to win his first singles gold in GPW?

And, the main event for the evening is...

GPW Tag Team Title 2/3 Falls Match

MIl-Anfield Connection © vs. Young Offenders

The heat just got turned up in this feud. The re-united Young Offenders have the most established tag team in GPW - The Mil-Anfield Connection firmly in their sights and not to mention the tag team trophy. These two teams met in September this year where there was no clear winner decided after the match ended in a draw. There will be NO excuses this time to not find a winner. This, for the first time in our history will be a 2/3 Falls Match for the tag team titles. A winner HAS to be decided, but who will it be? A truley epic encounter is in our midst as Jiggy Walker & "The Model" Danny Hope try to cling onto the championship that has defined them as a team and "Dangerous" Damon Leigh & Joey Hayes, The Young Offenders chase the title that one of the most popular tag teams in Europe have never held. Can the re-united friends overcome the well established unit that is The Mil-Anfield Connection? Or can the well oiled duo of the Mil-Anfield do what they've been doing all year and win again?

GPW British Title No.1 Contenders Match

Harry Doogle vs. Juice vs. Dylan Roberts vs. Chris Echo

After an eye catchingly good year from rookie Dylan Roberts, he has been included in this battle to earn a shot at the British Title. With a burning desire to win and the fans firmly behind him, Roberts could well mark his arrival onto the main roster by becoming the No.1 Contender and going for gold here. However, his opponents wont give him an easy ride. In a wonderful CC-08 tournament, no one impressed more than WKD's Chris Echo. Echo reached the CC-08 finals with two broken wrists and proved he is ready to take a step up. His previous attempts for British gold have been thwarted by the foreign legion numbers of the Eastern Bloc, is he ready to prove again that he is worthy of being No.1 Contender and finally lift the British title? Juice, the current CC8 champion has been as impressive as ever in singles competition this year, but can he compete in this match with 3 others all vying to be No.1 Contender? Also replacing Jervis Cottonbelly due to injury is Harry Doogle as a last minute entry could one half of the next gen score the upset win? , but with so many possible outcomes who will leave with the plaudits and go on to challenge for the British Title next year?

Lumberjack Match

Si Valour vs. Heresy

A violent and personal feud that has lasted all year long finally comes to a head in what promises to be a violent Lumberjack Match. Ever since brutalising Valour and cutting off all his hair, Heresy has, in some form or other dodged the challenge of Valour. Heresy claimed not to have lost his bottle or be running scared of the 2007 Break Out Star, yet during their Bull Rope clash at GPW: "V" where the two were tied to one another, Heresy still managed to find a way of escaping and creating distance between him and Valour. This time, in a special Lumberjack Match, no matter where either man go - there will be no escape. All lumberjacks will be at the ready to ensure neither man can escape the others clutches and a clear winner, one way or the other will HAVE to be decided. There will be nowhere to run to and nowhere to hide, no matter where they look. Heresy has been one step ahead of Valour all year, is this where he runs out of excuses, or can the master manipulator manipulate another win?

Thanks for your visit and your comments added this as a favorite.

Principles of photography, sex, time of light to know

"Lighting"

Without light, photography is impossible.

Do not care to use the film or digital system! However, this light that creates the image. But lights are not equal, in some hours, the light is more brilliant. Although this issue has little importance, because the lack of light can be increased during the exposure and the use of more open aperture to compensate. However, the quality of light in a picture effectively contributed to success.

"Light variable"

The effect of how the sun affects a scene, depends on many different factors.

Mtghyyrand so these factors, which may never unable, as a photo taken today, you are back to interact. Position the Sun in the sky not only change with time, but other factors such as season and location changes. All of these factors on the color, angle and brightness of light affect the amount of change and equally light Rvymvzv that is effective, the impact of Shadows mode.

Certain weather conditions also affect the light conditions and at any moment there are some changes. For example, clouds are not only front the sun, but as filters and player, the quality of light and thus alter the status light images per seconds may change.

Also used the human brain, objects according to their mentality and sees not imagine actually. Of course, sometimes we are following different lighting conditions Breymann (for example, when the sun, its golden rays from the surface to remove a landscape) However Khdr often do not see much difference.

The fact that natural lighting in terms of quality, continuous and varies in intensity of this change Mode Ynmaysh of everything is change. Photographer should see good practice so that before pressing the shutter button (Msdvdknndh) May to determine what the lighting conditions, photos will be better.

From sunrise to sunset

All these photos in a day of spring has been a similar angle.

The pictures show how light can change, and in some circumstances, there will a better image.

The first photo of the photo collection, just before sunrise about 6:45 that morning and the last photo taken of the sunset, about 8:30 PM is taken. These photos of the different time intervals during the day have been, change the amount of light to show the accuracy.

Our friend Trisha was up in Hull so we met up with her on Friday night. We tried a new place in the Prince's Quasy shopping centre called Iron Lilies, a nice looking new bar that has opened, but you had to book a table and we hadn't so we ended up sat outside for a drink.

After that we went to the Old Town to the Scale and Feather, before heading back to The Star to finish the evening. A lovely time!

In The Star. With the gorgeous Gucci.

A slightly melancholy weekend, this one. Leeds Pride is always the pinnacle of my year but of course with the pandemic this year it has been cancelled. However, Jen still had her hotel booked for the weekend, so I decided to drive across there and spend the afternoon in Leeds.

We actually had a really good time despite the cancelled celebrations. And we even ended up in a 'sports bar' playing pool - not very girly at all, ha ha! But great fun, and we'll be doing that again. We're both reasonably good at pool.

At home ready to set off, with a Pride bow in my hair.
