See comment below for correct description of this vehicle, thanks to "Preselected". I had hastily looked at the profile view of this bus and mistakenly assumed it was an Ailsa (should have seen the rear engine compartment!) Seen in Glasgow in August 1990, it is in fact, as per the comment Central SMT's first Dennis Dominator D1 (EGB77T) with Alexander bodywork, which became a Kelvin Central vehicle, as seen here, with the restructuring of the Scottish Bus Group.

September's LFF weekend was a bit different from usual. The evening was tinged with sadness and loss as we had a memorial for Janie Marie Swann, the amazing organiser of LFF who sadly passed away in July.
But it wa also a hugely social night meeting loads of people, friends old and new.
And I did a thing - I made my karaoke debut! It was nerve-wracking but I loved it! After a bit of a shaky start I loved every second!

We went to one of the parks on the other side of the river the other day and could not resist taking a few shots during sunset. It wasn't too cold with clear sky and the shadows created by steam coming out of the chimneys in the near by plant created interesting effect. Pretty light made the world look pretty again..

Zebra Finch - this one was gathering nesting material for its nest in a Norfolk Pine.
Scientific Name: Taeniopygia guttata
Description: Zebra Finches are mainly grey, with characteristic black 'tear drop' eye stripes and 'zebra like' black and white barring on the rump and upper tail. The throat and upper breast are pale grey, with fine black barring, and there is a broad black band on upper chest. The sides of the belly are chestnut with many white spots. The remainder of the belly and the undertail are white. The male is distinguished from the female by its chestnut cheek patches, a character that gave the species the alternative name of Chestnut-eared Finch. Both sexes have red eyes and bill. The legs and feet are orange yellow. Young are similar in plumage to the female, except that the clear black and white markings of the head are absent. The eyes are grey-brown and the bill is black.
Distribution: Zebra Finches are the most common and widespread of Australia's grassfinches, found across the Australian mainland, with the exception of Cape York Peninsula and some coastal areas. They are also found in Timor and the Lesser Sunda Islands.
Habitat: Zebra Finches are most commonly found in the drier areas of Australia, living year round in social flocks of up to 100 or more birds. They can be found in a variety of habitats, mainly dry wooded grasslands, bordering watercourses.
Feeding: Zebra Finches feed in large flocks on fallen or ripening grass seeds. Insects may be taken at any time of the year, but are particularly favoured when feeding young. Feeding takes place on the ground, and, unlike some other grassfinches, birds never pull seed heads down with their feet.
Breeding: Zebra Finches pair for life. The female alone selects the nest site, but both birds care for the eggs and young. The male gathers almost all the nesting material, with which the female constructs the loose dome-shaped nest. Birds have also been reported to nest in hollows in the ground, although this behaviour is uncommon. With a time-span of 70 to 80 days from hatching to becoming sexually active, the Zebra Finch is one of the fastest maturing bird species recorded.

The Sheffield Beer And Cider Festival is something that Gemma always tries to attend and she had hotel bookings for that weekend, but unfortunately as with many things recently, the beer festival was cancelled. BUt we decided to have a Sheffield weekend just the same, and it was a brill time!
Our good friend Sarah also happened to be in town the first couple of days so we got to spend time with her too - first time since early 2020. It was lovely catching up.

**UPDATE**... As from 13/11/08 Sky 1,2,3, etc. are back on Virgin Media. Sky & Virgin Media have come to some sort of an agreement... So Prision Break is on Sky One on Tuesdays @ 22:00-23:00 and repeated on: Wednesdays @ 23:00-00:00 & Mondays @ 01:00-02:00
**UPDATE**... On Tueday 19th May 2009 on Sky1 saw the end of prison break after running for 4yrs. Prison break came to a sad ending with the death of... Michael Scofield. Scene moves to 4 years later, with his girlfriend Sara Tancredi his son 'Michael Junior', his brother 'Lincoln Burrows', Fernando Sucre and Alexander Mahone visiting Michael Scofield grave. *BUT* is he really dead I'll have to watch the special series next week on the 4 missing years.

Ew Flickr sharpening. Had a lovely day with the people I love. It was so nice to see Andrew, albeit over a pixelated web-stream. Isn't it sad that we truly realise how much we miss people when they're out of our reach?

Gemma came up for the bank holiday weekend, and on the Saturday we wanted to have another walk around the new footbridge and get some better (and warmer) footage than we got a few weeks previously.
We went for a little walk around the marina too. It was reasonably busy with bank holiday revellers - as often happens we encountered some fun people. It was a great evening, and Gemma got some amazing pictures and footage!
All of that was fuelled by a tea of pancakes filled with banana and Nutella - lovely!
