My brother came out last Saturday and dropped off this piece of art :) He made my farm into a mailbox. I absolutly love it and can't believe the detail he went to. All the animals are there plus the foster cats. I thought it too good to be a mailbox and wanted to put it inside but he insisted i put it out the front.
The neighbours think it is hilarious and people driving past now stop and take photos lol

Our annual May Lincoln weekend and we had some company this time round.
We organised a meal at Ole Ole Tapas with a few friends - Alice, Isobel, Trisha and Cindy. We all walked up Steep Hill to get there but it was well worth the effort - the tapas at Ole Ole is amazing.
Aslo gave a first outing to my modified handbag. Many thanks to Gemma for helping with the wiring and advice for this - it looks amazing! I'm so pleased with it!
Many thanks for your visits, faves and comments. Cheers.
Magpie Goose
Scientific Name: Anseranas semipalmata
Description: The Magpie Goose has a black neck and head, with a characteristic knob on the crown (larger in males), which increases in size with age. The underparts are white, with contrasting black edges on the underwing. The bill, legs and feet are orange. The Magpie Goose differs from most waterfowl in having strongly clawed toes that are webbed only on their basal halves (i.e. only partly webbed). Females are slightly smaller than males.
Distribution: The Magpie Goose is widespread throughout coastal northern and eastern Australia. It can be seen from Fitzroy River, Western Australia, through northern Australia to Rockhampton, Queensland, and has been extending its range into coastal New South Wales to the Clarence River and further south.
Habitat: The Magpie Goose is seen in floodplains and wet grasslands. Some individuals, mostly younger birds, may be seen at quite long distances inland.
Feeding: Large, noisy flocks of up to a few thousand birds congregate to feed on aquatic vegetation. The Magpie Goose is a specialized feeder with wild rice, Oryza, Paspalum, Panicum and spike-rush, Eleocharis, forming the bulk of its diet.
Breeding: During the breeding season, Magpie Geese build nests in secluded places, usually close to wetlands. The nest is almost single-handedly constructed by the male. It usually consists of a simple unlined cup placed either in a floating platform of trampled reeds or built in tree-tops. Pairs of geese mate for life, but a male may have two females. Two females may occasionally use the same nest to lay the large, oval, off-white coloured eggs. All adults share incubation and care for the young.
Minimum Size: 71cm
Maximum Size: 89cm
Average size: 82cm
Breeding season: February to June
Clutch Size: Up to 16 eggs for 2 females, but 8 more common

This one's got just about every accessory available in 1951, from white wall tires to bumperets, to stainless steel stone guards on the fenders and rear fender skirts, plus those hokey eyelids over the headlights, "beauty rings" on the wheels. The chrome trim on the gas filler door. Whew! Probably has a radio and heater too. And maybe some clear plastic covers on the seats. :o)
It's actually a seriously nice car. I don't mean to belittle or criticize.

These are the last ones from February, which was an unusually quiet month for me with hardly any pictures.
Of course, that is likely to become the new normal now we're locked down.
Just me and Bagpuss. :-)

Friendship - you're all that matters to me (Shine).
Without my friends, I am nothing. Without them, all of this is for nothing. I treasure my friendships. And Gemma - well, she is my soulmate.
Gemma made this beautiful video of our weekend and put it to one of my favourite songs - Shine by Take That. I am in floods of happy tears every single time I watch this.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The mola forms part of the traditional costume of a Kuna woman, two mola panels being incorporated as front and back panels in a blouse. The full costume traditionally includes a patterned wrapped skirt (saburet), a red and yellow headscarf (musue), arm and leg beads (wini), a gold nose ring (olasu) and earrings in addition to the mola blouse (dulemor)
How is a mola made?
This is a technique of appliqué/inverse: it consists of stacking 3 to 5 layers of fabric of different colors, and it cutting the outline of motifs, from one layer to show the color of the one below. The cutting are then finely hemmed. The color of the lowest layer creates the outline of the image. Only the last layer will not be cut.

In 2010, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) reestablished the historic Sydney Front Range Light. After replacing the Rear Tower with a metal structure in 2009, it was found the front tower was in bad shape with rotten wood. To maintain the heritage characteristic, DFO built a replica of the 1905 structure. The old iron lantern has been refurbished and installed on the new lighthouse, it continues as an active aid to navigation. The replica tower was built using modern long lasting materials.
Even though this light house was just rebuilt it is on the "Table of Active Lighthouses Declared Surplus" by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada - now that is what I call great planning by the government., build and the next day get rid of it!
Body of Water: Sydney Harbour
Region: Cape Breton Island
Scenic Drive: Marconi Trail

Height Above Water: 18.3 meters (60ft)

Into November's photos now, and I was quite pleased with this set. No exciting occasion to dress up for this time though, just a night in at home.
Raw ingredients plus a finished montage of photos. :-)

Bâillon's Crake
Scientific Name: Porzana pusilla
Like most species of crakes and rails, Baillon's Crake is a denizen of swamps and other wetlands. Although they are rather secretive and skulk about among the vegetation at the margins of these wetlands, sometimes they can be seen dashing across floating aquatic plants. When they run, they have a peculiar crouching posture, but at other times, they walk slowly with their head down and tail held erect and constantly flicked.
Description: The upperparts of a Baillon's Crake are a rich cinnamon-brown, with black streaks and white spots on the back and wings. They are generally light grey below, with a white belly that has dark barring, which extends onto the undertail. The bill is greenish, as are the legs and feet, while the eye is bright red.
Similar Species: The Australian Spotted Crake is much darker, with dark-brown upperparts and dark-grey underparts.
Distribution: Baillon's Crakes are mostly found in south-eastern and south-western Australia, with records at scattered sites elsewhere throughout the country. The species also occurs in New Zealand, South East Asia, Eurasia and southern Africa.
Habitat: Baillon's Crakes inhabit vegetated wetlands, usually with fresh or brackish water, including swamps, billabongs, lakes and reservoirs and temporarily inundated areas. They often prefer wetlands with floating aquatic vegetation.
Feeding: While foraging, Baillon's Crakes pack at insects, crustaceans, snails and other small invertebrates on areas of open mud at the margins of wetlands, among fringing vegetation, or from floating aquatic plants.
Breeding: Five or six pale-brown eggs are usually laid in a shallow cup or platform made from dry rushes, grass or waterweed, placed among tussocks at the margin of the wetland. Both sexes incubate and both guard the young birds.

Description: 2014-8-16: After taking a break for almost more than a month from sunset shooting (due to erratic weather and workload at the office), I was finally able to spend the time for a quick sunset sesssion. Not being able to decide earlier on the shooting location, I finally started my car and made my way to place that I very seldom shoot during sunset in the city. Alhamdulillah, the weather stays clear in the evening and I am glad that I decided to step back from the usual viewpoint that I usually shoot. Hopefully the weather further improves in the next few days. The image is also part of the image sequence taken for my time-lapse session that evening. Do visit my profiles at Facebook/Vimeo/Youtube for the result later.
Thank you for stopping by.
