I bought some new skirts from Amazon a couple of weeks back including this one. Had been looking for a Satin skirt for a while and was delighted to find this one relatively cheap.

Any comments and favs are very much appreciated

December 13th,2009(sooc and in comments too)ON BLACK

wow does the quality of this picture look amazing or what? i think soo. anyways. I've come to this conclusion..i loathe the action of assuming. I don't like it when i do it, or when anyone does it. It never makes anything better, so why do it. People that think to much, tend to assume a lot, hehe that's an assumption because i'm sure not everyone who thinks a lot assumes. I really wish that action wasn't possible. I mean you never know what someone is thinking, so you really can't assume.

So today was chill. I made strawberry pancakes(i cut up real strawberries and put them in the batter yum) for lunch.. but extreme, haha, EPIC FAIL. you know why? i put wayyyyy to much baking powder. instead of 3 TEASPOONS i put 3 TABLESPOONS ahaha so my pancakes were uber big and puffy(pictures in comments). It's funny i've made pancakes from scratch and i've never done that, i was so hungry i didn't read the recipe ahah. also wheat flour tastes sooo different then white flour, and cane sugar tastes sooo different then ruglar sugar as well. It's probably because they are both healthier and in their natural state. the pancakes tasted soo cinnamony to me..though there was no cinnamon in them. I was getting a bit flustered and annoyed, and cooking never makes me angry or flustered, i'm quite patient with it. haha. so that was fun. My dad made and yummy spaghetti dinner, though i took out the meat in the meat sauce...they were making fun of me for that. jonel texted/called me. hehe my hibernating baby. so cute. we talked from 5:30pm-almost 8pm:D he is the greatest guy on the planet. the best, funniest, most understanding, great listener, sweet, unique, random, guy i've ever met. he's so laid back, down to earth, and chill..then at times crazy, wild and silly. he's also extremely beautiful, he's so accepting of me and i'm so crazy and silly and hyper on the phone, from lack of talking to him i get all hyper and crazy. it could just be because as the days pass by more and more i'm falling deeper in love with him. he's got me in a spell i sware. i was joking with him telling him"what if i moved back to florida?" *jonel's voice gets all excited*"are you going to?!!" "hehe do you want me too?" *jonel even more anticipated and excited then before*" are you going to?" haha him and adela really really want me to move back. Even though i miss florida like crazy, i don't want to move back, yet. Maybe in two years. idk i love california. though i miss my home even more. it's crazy when you live somewhere, you don't always appreciate it and what it has to offer but then when you move away, you see what it had, and you wish you appreciated it more. I miss florida a lot. It was my home for the past 8 years, and soooo much happened in that little time. My whole life went upside down then back up again in 8 years. It was incredible. though things happened that i didn't like..i will probably always call florida my home..more than chicago..maybe because i only spent a 11 years of my life in chicago and in those 11 years, i really can't remember much. The memories i do remember are vague, yet wonderful. I loved chicago but florida is more of my home now, it's more me. Chicago has changed a lot since i was there, and i don't like what it has become..regardless of no snow in florida i don't think i will ever go back to chicago. AHAH i so got off topic. Ah well. i'm sure you don't want to hear about jonel anyways. ok well i love you life, and jonel, and ee everything. i need to go make my lunch because i'm getting up at 5:45am(eep) to open tomorrow and i work until 3pm. how fun diddy fun. hope jonel passes his test tomorrow. hope everyone had a fun sunday. i know i did. and i love all you flickr friends. you say such nice things to me

Pheasant Coucal

Scientific Name: Centropus phasianinus

Description: A large 'pheasant-like', ground-dwelling cuckoo, the Pheasant Coucal has a long tail and short rounded wings. In its breeding plumage, it has a black head, neck and underbody with the upperparts and wings reddish-brown with black and cream barring and the black tail is barred orange. Out of breeding, the head and back return to a reddish chestnut colour and the underparts are cinnamon brown, with all streaked boldly white. The eye is red. Sexes are similar in plumage, but females are larger than males. Young birds look like paler, non-breeding adults with orange spots on the head, neck and upper body. When disturbed, coucals run rather than fly, or fly clumsily, plunging into cover. Unlike most other cuckoos, the Pheasant Coucal is not a nest parasite.

Distribution: The Pheasant Coucal is found in northern and eastern Australia, as well as New Guinea and East Timor. It is found from the Pilbara, Western Australia, to south-eastern New South Wales. In New South Wales it is mainly found east of the Great Dividing Range from the Queensland border to the southern Hunter region, with some around Sydney and further south to Illawarra.

Habitat: The Pheasant Coucal prefers dense understorey vegetation, particularly grasses, rushes, bracken and sedges, in open forests and woodlands, and around wetlands. Often found in sugar cane plantations near wetlands, on farmlands with thick grasses and weed-infested thickets, such as Lantana. Often seen in parks, gardens and along roads or railway lines.

Seasonal movements: Sedentary.

Feeding: The Pheasant Coucal feeds on the ground on large insects, frogs, lizards, eggs and young of birds and, sometimes, small mammals.

Breeding: Pheasant Coucals form lasting pairs and, unlike other Australian cuckoos, build their own nests and raise their young themselves. The nest is usually hidden in thick grass or sugar cane or in weedy thickets and is a platform of sticks, grass or rushes, lined with leaves and grasses. The male usually incubates the eggs and feeds the young, with the female helping with feeding. More than one clutch can be laid in one season. The Pheasant Coucal is the only Australian cuckoo to build its own nest. It also lives and nests on the ground, unlike other cuckoos.

Calls: Deep, hollow 'oop-oop-oop-oop'; also a metallic tapping call.

Minimum Size: 50cm

Maximum Size: 70cm

Average size: 60cm

Average weight: 380g

Breeding season: September to March

Clutch Size: 3 to 5

Incubation: 15 days

Nestling Period: 13 days

Description: 2014-04-12 - Making plans the night before for a milkyway session that I so yearn for, it was called off upon waking up at 2am to a heavy rain. Making my way back to bed, I made a mental note to wake up in a few hours with hope that I would get some nice sunrise instead at the Putrajaya Dam. Arriving late at location that morning to a sky that starts to "burn", I was struggling to decide on the composition that I would stayed for my time-lapse shoot. After a few minutes (and losing some of the "burning sky" moment), I decided to stay at this composition for a whole 600++ frames. Alhamdulillah the clouds formation and lights fall was one of the beautiful sunrise that I have witness. The image was one of the frames in the middle of the time-lapse session that day as the sun starts to come out of the horizon.

Cathedral Plaza, at the south end of High Street, Worcester, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom. Sunday 6th March 2022, at around 2pm to 4pm.

About the photograph.

This photo shows a guy taking his turn to speak out his option of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while a group of people are listening.

Notice the two people at the far left side of the photo, one of them holding a placard saying Tyrants always fail and the other person with a Ukraine flag on shoulders. There is a closer photo of them in my Photostream.

The last time I attended a protest to try to do some photojournalism kind of photography, was back in 1987-89 during my college days.

Since then, been trying to get a job in photography or graphic design. Got married, started having kids, then got a divorce and became a very busy single parent and full-time carer. Now that my kids are older and left home, I’m free and independent, so I decided to try to get back into doing photography. I need to refresh my skills anyway.

In the first week of March, 2022, I heard that there was a planned protest in Worcester which is the nearest city, so the night before, I charged up my Nikon’s batteries, formatted the memory cards to make sure I have plenty of storage space left for more photos, and made sure my photography kit bag is ready.

On the afternoon of Sunday, I drove to Worcester, parked my car at the car park, and walked over to the Cathedral Plaza, which is where the protests were due to start. At that time (March 2022), the Knife Angel, a 27 feet tall sculpture made out of knives seized by the police, was on display.

As the 2pm start was approaching, more and more people arrived there, I would say there was around about between 50 to 75 people, or something like that. The protest was really more like a Speaker’s Corner kind of protest, with many people just standing around, rather than a march. At least 4 or 5 different guys took turns to speak out their statements, while some people held up their placards. There wasn’t much of a protest, but then again, it is because Worcester is a small city compared to other major cities where protests were taking part on massive scale.

I tried my best to do a photo-journalism kind of photography, I went around the crowd and took as many photos as I could. Those are just the few good photos I could find out of the approximately 400 photos I managed to take.

About the overall subject.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine started on the 24th of February 2022, and in a short space of time, many Europeans, Americans, mostly and mainly anyone of “Western” lifestyle, people living in free countries, with freedom of speech, of choice, of votes, many of them started taking to streets to protest against the Russian invasion.

There were so many signs in various languages, often advising that Russia should leave Ukraine, stop the war, Putin being a war criminal, and so on.

This protest that I attended to take the photos, was organised by the Worcester Trades Union Council, and was listed on the Stop the War Coalition website, under the No to War in Ukraine protests section. This was just one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of protests happening all around the world on Sunday 6th March, in respond to President Putin‘s decision to attack Ukraine.

Description: 2014-04-13 - The image was taken last Sunday as on the last minute I decided to make my way to Darul Quran in Kuala Kubu Baru which is approximately 1 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. Arriving a bit late, I quickly deployed my gears in place and Alhamdulillah this was the 1st frame of 900 frames I took for my time lapse session. Do visit my Vimeo or Youtube profile for the timelapse later.

CAT:

Comments, criticism and tips for improvement are most welcome.

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU FAVE!

I got that Microfighter Resistance Fighter set, and immediately fell in love with the figure.

I didn't really get any of The Force Awakens sets when they came out, so it was my first time getting the new pilot suit and helmet.

The figure was practically perfect already, but I wanted to add a little more.

Rebel Pilot:

I immediately changed the head, cause I love how these new heads look. The main figure details were all kept with same with the exception of a few. The white print seemed to be washed out, so I painted over it with a firmer shade of white. I added some black boots, just for a little contrast, and changed the color of the gray tubing on his thighs. The gap between the torso and legs was filled in. The whole figure was then washed in dark brown for a better look. I added simp pockets on the sides of his arms and legs and wrapped his hands in Etape. The helmet has battle damage of various browns, black, and even white for paint scratches.

For his accessory I made an SE-14C. The base was a brickarms gun, with the back chopped off and sights/piping glued on. The whole thing was painted in a matte black. I think I got the likeness pretty well, but I'm missing a side barrel.

I think that's it!

Overall I'm super pleased with how this turned out, as it is one of the first Star Wars figs I've done in a while.

Thanks if you comment and read!

A comment was made about possible damage on the bird's beak in an earlier posting. This photo definitely shows something occurred to it's beak.

Life is but a brief journey through time. The Awe of the Grand Canyon makes us pause and ponder the real scale of time. A true beast of nature, the climate, has had it up’s and Downs: Hot periods, Cold periods, Glaciers to Floods, Tropics to Mountains, and, Today, here sets one of the great testaments to those violent periods in the evolution of Earth.

Mans existence is but a blink in the vast time scale of Earth. And yet, from her violent past, she leaves us this great spectacle so we may glimpse her troubled past.

The mill is no more but a foundation. See the comments from when I photographed it as my Day 9/365 in 2023 and on 3 May 2015.

Discovered in a barn in France during the early 1990s, this Delage received a meticulous restoration and is painted its original colors.

1937 Delage D8-120 Coupe Aerosport by Letourneur et Marchand

The Aerosport was designed by Letourneur et Marchand of Paris and featured pillarless "hardtop" styling and a fin on the trunk. The styling was so highly regarded that an Aerosport was one of a pair of Delages chosen to represent the French government at the automotive display at the 1939

New York World's Fair.

The Petersen Automotive Museum:

Founded on June 11, 1994 by magazine publisher Robert E. Petersen, and his wife Margie, the Petersen Automotive Museum is owned and operated by the Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation. Previously located within the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the museum is permanently housed in a historic department store originally designed by Welton Becket.

Robert Petersen selected the largely windowless site as an ideal space for a museum, where artifacts could be displayed without harmful exposure to the ultraviolet radiation of direct sunlight.

In 2015, the museum underwent an extensive $90 million renovation.
