We went to Cognac for Rebekah's birthday and had a lovely meal!
It was a weeknight so we had the whole place to ourselves. And the food was amazing as always!

This is a photograph from the second running of the newly situated Irish 3/4 Marathon (formerly the Athlone 3/4) which was held in Longwood, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of October 2017 at 10:00. The event is positioned perfectly in the calendar as a key training race before the Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. This year was the second year that the event was held in Longwood, Co. Meath which is now well known for its hosting of the Longwood 10KM/5KM annual races and a host venue for East of Ireland Marathon series marathons on a bi-annual basis. The race started and finished at Longwood GAA club just outside the village of Longwood. It followed an anti-clockwise course around the beautiful picturesque countryside of south Meath. The course went through the townlands of Longwood, Castlerickard, Killyon, Hill-of-Down, Anneville and Ashfield Clonard, Blackshare, Stoneyford and back to Longwood. The river Boyne and Blackwater were crossed as was the Royal Canal and the Dublin-Sligo Railway line at Hill-of-Down. Overall this was a very different course to the previous years in Athlone. The overall elevation of the course works out at 3/4 of the total elevation of the Dublin Marathon course. What most stood out about today's race was the course and how the countryside around it looked on a beautiful almost perfect Autumn morning. There was a large local effort with stewarding and many local people watched from their gardens as the race passed by. The organisation of the race was first class with every detail taken care of from the start until the finish. There was some rain showers from about 13:00 onwards but these soon passed.

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

I went with my friend Charlotte to an event on Prince's Avenue. I've been a few times before - it's called Beat The Clock. They play 70s and 80s and lots more - all played from 7" vinyl. Old school!
We had a cracking night and danced most of the night away.
While we were there, someone tok a photo of me while I was on the dancefloor, and I absolutely love it! I have it in colour and black and white, and I have to say I prefer the black and white - it's more atmospheric. Totally love the photo and it will be one I print out to put up on my wall!

I think for now on i'm not going to talk about my days,unless it's something too exciting for me to keep inside,..i never do that in my journals, and i know people don't care:D, so i'm going to talk about things that are on my mind and etc. Just like in my journals. But not too much or too detail because i will leave that for my beautiful paper journal. I love the feeling of writing in my journal and expressing all my thoughts. my journal is different though, when i write in it, i never repeat any one thought, so if i have something i already wrote in my journal i can go weeks without writing in it. it makes me sad, but i don't like being repetitive in it. I've become so unlazy lately. Been able to control my emotions more, not get stressed, annoyed, angry, and etc. I wasn't horrible before, but whenever i'm on the red dragon it's a roller coaster ride of emotions for me, but now it's different and i believe because i'm becoming more intune with my body, mind, and spirt and i love it so much. Last night was so eye opening for me. I just can't ever imagine jonel and i breaking up, no matter what. GOd i'm so in love with that boy. I have thoughts on my mind..but i think i will write them in my journal..i miss her..i haven't written in her in about 5days:/ i used to write in her about 6times a day, now it's just whenever i'm not preoccupied with reading, biking, playing suduko, working, talking to people, or out. Good night, the new year will bring lots of new things and changes. I'm so excited and ready for it!

I took this photo in the beautiful Hakone Japanese Garden in Saratoga this spring.
The sky and the veins in the petals give an abstract touch to the whole image. I created 3 HDR versions. This is the most abstract one, e.g. non-photo-realistic one.
Part of the composition is cropping, which i always pay attention to. I cropped this one to have some blue on the lower left, four flowers in a circle at the right, and flowers cut at the base on top (hanging into the picture to give it a dynamic touch).
I am looking forward to feedback on how to improve my photo skills. Do you have any?

Gemma was visiting, and we had a brilliant and unexpected night out on Prince's Avenue in Hoi.
There was a live act on - Smooth Operator, a vocal and sax 80s tribute band and they were brilliant! Lots of 80s classics. And what lovely people they were!
Hoi has booked them again for the end of August so we're very much looking forward to seeing them again!
Also we bumped into the lovely Elle who works at Humber Social. She was in with a few family members. Lovely to see them!

Skirmish - Clifford D. Simak [589 2014-02-11]
"Skirmish"(1977) is a collection of ten stories by the noted science-fiction author Clifford Simak (1904-88). The stories were all previously published during years 1944-75.
In addition to the stories there is a very informative 5-page author's forward. Simak details the themes he uses, the type of characters that appeal to him and his use of southwest Wisconsin as a local for many of his stories.
The following are comments on the stories in the order they appear in the book:
"Huddling Place"(1944) and "Desertion"(1944) may be familiar to some readers since they are chapters from the author's future history novel "City". The stories can be enjoyed individually but interested readers should read them again in the context of the book "City".
"Skirmish"(1950) originally published under the title "Bathe Your Bearings in Blood" features a newspaper editor as the protagonist - interestingly that was author Simak's day job for most of his working life. Alien beings animate machines - typewriter, sewing machine etc. prior to an outright invasion and the subjugating of mankind. This 60 plus year old story has not aged well.
"Good Night, Mr. James"(1951) a vicious alien being is let loose in a Midwestern city and must be apprehended before they reproduce. A nasty twist of fate for the protagonist awaits readers in the stories last sentence.
"The Sitters"(1958) the location for this thoughtful story of human aging and benevolent alien beings is the town Millville - a local used frequently in Simak's fiction and the name of the town where he was raised.
"The Big Front Yard"(1958) this story won the Hugo award for best novelette published during 1958. I found this story just too cute and overflowing with SF stereotypes and full of logical impossibilities but many Simak fans think this is one of his better stories.
"All the Traps of Earth"(1960) one of the best stories in the collection in my estimation. The two themes that permeated much of Simak's fiction, robots and mankind's intellectual evolution, are thoughtfully parsed out in this absorbing tale.
"The Thing in the Stone"(1970) a man retreats to a dilapidated farm in southwest Wisconsin to heal from an accident that killed his family. In this geological pristine location he become aware that a head injury gives him a view into the ancient past where he discovers an enigmatic mystery.
"The Autumn Land"(1971) an old town in a hidden Midwest valley serves as a metaphor for an indeterminate rest stop after death. In his introduction to this collection Simak states he was very pleased with this story - and so was this reader.
"The Ghost of a Model T"(1975) another metaphoric story of life after death. A model T automobile drives two presumably dead individuals around reliving some prior life experiences.
If you are curious or new to the writings of Simak this collection is well worth reading.
A collection of photographs taken on the 22nd November 1987 at the Surfest '87 event held at Newcastle Beach, Australia.
Surfest '87 was also known as "The BHP Steel International" and ran from 14th-22nd 1987.
The images were shot by Chris Patterson for Hannan Photography, who were engaged to record the event by Peach Advertising on behalf of the Surfest sponsors B.H.P. (The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Ltd).
The images were scanned from the original 35 mm colour negatives, at 3200 dpi using an Epson Perfection V700 Scanner. They comprised sheets labeled under the original numbering sequence of CN7560. (CN=Colour Negative) One sheet comprises black and white negatives.
The original negatives are held in Cultural Collections at the Auchmuty Library, University of Newcastle (Australia).
You are welcome to use the images for study and personal research purposes. Please acknowledge as "Courtesy of the Hannan Photography Archive, University of Newcastle (Australia)" For commercial requests you must obtain permission by contacting Cultural Collections.

Bella was here for the weekend and we went out to meet our friends Paul and Caroline in Hoi.
We tried out Caffe Gelato oppostire irst for ice cream and hot chocolate. First time I had been in there and it was very good! Then a lovely catch-up with Paul and Caroline.
