22H45 We decide to put a light torch ray during a few seconds ? How the bird will react ? Not too much disturbed he continues to walk looking for his fellows (and ladies !!!) We find back speed 1/640 16 000 ISO !
A crazy evening with Gaidis Gadrans et Oscar Dominguez. When Gaidis suggested to see the Great Snipe on a lek, we were delighted but without knowing we were on the point to live an outstanding experience in time and light !
With « guest stars » thousands mosquitos we will fight with a mix of russian, french and catalan repellents !!
The full moon will help us to go to 32 000 ISO !!
The Great Snipe is classified NT by IUCN (Near threatened) and the estimate european population is around 2 000 couples ! Hunting is one of the main reasons of his decline with the field drainage and intensive agriculture.
She is probably the fastest migratory bird, able to fly in one run 5 500 kms in 64 hours !!
How long time we will ba able to see her ?
In her concluding comments at this year’s UBCM conference, Premier Christy Clark announced that B.C. will be moving forward with a bridge to replace the Massey Tunnel and that there will be infrastructure planning grants available for Northwest LNG communities.
The UBCM conference is a chance for local governments to engage with each other and the provincial government and an opportunity for local governments to meet face to face with provincial cabinet ministers. It allows for an exchange of ideas and best practices, all aimed at making B.C. a better place. To find out more about what’s happening at this year’s conference, head to the BC Government Newsroom: www.newsroom.gov.bc.ca/2013/09/ubcm-2013.html

I notice from my stats that the images of the Pano Head get the most hits of all my images.
I cannot understand why so let's hear it from your angle. Many thanks. Barry

This is my home made panoramic head.
Basically (not beautifully) constructed from 12mm polycarbonate, a substantial L bracket, sliding flash bracket, bullseye bubble level and various nuts and bolts.
It has two vertical axis points, one for the SD10 (as here) and one for my E1+grip.
Apologies for the poor focussing (no excuses)

The last weekly choir meeting before the summer break. We had a potluck (I made a cheesecake for it) and some people bravely put themselves up for karaoke.
I was one of those brave people!
I've never felt nerves like that before singing! Usually it's in a pub, with not many paying attention, alcohol-infused audiences, and not many that can sing. But this was different - everyone was paying attention, and they can all sing!
I was terrified. But I did it - and what a reception I got at the end too - it was amazing! Absolutely loved it.
NOT my pictures - please click on the links below to comment on these incredible shots! This is my submission for the June 6th Meme.

I had a brilliant night at Beat The Clock on Prince's Avenue with lovely friends.
Great music and loads of dancing - so much so that I took almost no photos of the night!
Once again I wore my lovely new knitted dress - it has fast become one of my favourites!
Beat The Clock. In the middle is Stephen and on the right is Soraya - both lovely people.
Nolid Moth Caterpillars (Chloephorinae, Nolidae)
Some theories for the swollen thorax of these caterpillars is as an alternate target for predators (a body strike is more likely to be survivable than a head strike) and as a mimic of unpalatable berries once again to deter predators particularly birds.

We went to Nottingham to see Ross Noble in concert.
He was brilliant! Such a great show. Our faces hurt from laughin so much afterwards!
Before the show we went for pie ast Pieminister. It was "pie week" so they had a spinny wheel for prizes - and we both won a free pie! :-)
After that, we went for a drink at a great micropub - The Barrel Drop - then on to the show.
A great night! :-)
Yummy food!
