Hypopyrrhus pyrohypogaster

(Red-bellied Grackle / Cacique candela)

The red-bellied grackle is endemic to Colombia where it is found in all three Andean ranges at altitudes of 800 to 2,400m (2,600 to 7,900ft) above sea level.

Its natural habitat is tropical forest, but the trees are increasingly being felled for timber and to make way for agriculture, and little virgin forest remains within its range.

H. pyrohypogaster was formerly classified as "endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature but in 2012 the threat level was lowered to "vulnerable". This is on the basis that, although its forest habitat remains under pressure, it has been found at some new locations where it was not known before. The total population is now estimated to be in the range 2,500 to 9,999 individuals.

A Robin singing loudly in the Hawthorn.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.

Many viewers have commented that The Guardian Building (originally The Union Trust Company Building) reminded them of a church.

This picture shows approximately half of the bank lobby on the main floor. Imagine the original bank building with 60-90 bank teller cages lining the entire length of both sides of this "nave". The ceiling was composed of a 3/4 inch (1.9cm) of horsehair and coated with a layer of plaster cement. Then, a canvas layer was applied, and painted with designs reminiscent of the patterns of Navajo rugs. This was a sound-deadening system.

The "altar piece" ( I suppose) was the three-story mural of the map of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Highlighted were the major Michigan moneymakers of the1890s to 1920s: mining, manufacturing, lumber, fishing, commerce, and agriculture. It was completed in 1929, unfortunately the year of the beginning of "The Great Depression".

This superbly decorated Art-Deco bank building was nicknamed "The Cathedral of Finance." So, if the earlier pictures reminded you of a church (reprised in the first comment below) --you were very observant : -)

Comment différencier la Femelle du Mâle ?

Le grèbe huppé possède un plumage de trois couleurs allant du brun roux à pointes noires sur l’arrière des « joues » , blanc sur les joues et sur l’intérieur du cou ainsi que le dessous ( le ventre) de l’oiseau , la partie supérieure (arrière du cou et dos) est-elle de couleur brun noir il possède une double huppe noir sur la tête .Son œil est de couleur rouge Le mâle et la femelle ont un plumage identique et sont très difficiles à différencier, il existe notamment une petite différence afin de distinguer le mâle, ce dernier procède une légère bosse sur le dessus du crâne (quasi au niveau de l’œil) alors que celui de la femelle est lui droit.

In all plumages, the yellowish patch on the wings- seen as a yellow bar on the closed wing. Greenfinches are associated with parks, gardens and hedgerows, resident all year round, A beautiful bird that is in charge, when it gets to the feeder, excluding smaller species.
