Natalie Merchant- The Letter
If I ever write this letter
The pages I could write
But I don't know where to send it
You have vanished
Heaven knows where you live
Heaven only knows
If I ever write this letter
Bitter words it would contain
Just an unrequited lover
Wishing she had never
Spoken your name
Had never known your name
But if I write this letter
The truth it would reveal
Knowing you brought me pleasure
How often I'll treasure
Moments that we knew
The precious and the few
~~~~~~~~~
the demons that wait for me
outside the screenlocked door
never let me out
it's frigid, it's cold
i can't see beyond the millions
of airholes they leave for me
outside the screenlocked door.
Comments from Moya:
Made several messy beginnings, good thing this plastic paper wipes off cleanly. Nothing came up for me trying to do an emotive/feelings, so this yupo painting was inspired from a Paul Klee painting.
Also browsed online for using yupo, and don’t really know if these are true but some takeaways:
1. before painting, wipe the entire surface with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils, ie finger prints. (I think that’s what the white spots are at the upper edge.)
2. use watercolor pencil, not regular pencil that has oil.
Phil Haley & his Comments, Entertainment van de bovenste plank uit een tijdperk dat reeds ver achter ons ligt, maar nog niemand is vergeten.
Niet slechts alleen maar een imitatie maar een perfecte vertolking van de allereerste ‘Superstar’ van de Rock ‘n’ Roll; Bill Haley and his Comets.
I had the fortune of being stuck in Grand Central this evening due to a disabled train somewhere...it delayed all trains outbound from GC, and the station was packed. Fortunately, I had my trusty camera with me for just such an occasion like this, where I have to stand around for hours. When they would suddenly post a track location for the next train out, all the people would rush out of the main concourse. I set myself up on one of the balconies to catch that moment. How lucky was it that one person stood at the railing amongst the rushing horde!
The shot in the comments shows just how crowded the station got at some points.
A lot of people are into the "what is wrong with the film industry" video we posted. Some associate FEM with it which is good because a big hurdle is convincing people these movies won't suck.
Sunday night we went to see our lovely and so talented friends Smooth Operator playing in Hedon.
We went for delicious food at the Camerton pub beforehand and even managed dessert before heading to see the gig.
Helen (the singer in Smooth Operator) even borrowed my Orinoco womble to wear while she was singing Wombling Merry Christmas, ha ha!
Our annual September trip to Newcastle, our favourite city.
Saturday was the Ladyboys of Bangkok show, the reason we always come to Newcastle in September.
Despite it being truly vile outside with freezing rain and wild winds, we had a brilliant show! Sat right at the stage.
Several of the dancers ercognised us from previous years and acknowledged us from the stage. And as usual we went on stage at half time to get our picture taken with them.
An amazing show!
We did go to The Bank for a drink afterwards and the plan had been for our lovely friend Fiona to come and meet us but it was so horrible outside that we cancelled that and went back to the hotel after one drink. We were back in the hotel room before 10.30!
Despite that, what an awesome night and a brilliant weekend.
Gemma was up for a Hull weekend. We went to see my dear friend Andrew's Daughter Yasmin Coe playing with her band at the Polar Bear Music Club.
A very full evening! We went to Cognac for amazing French food, then on to Prince;s Avenue for a drink before heading round to the Polar Bear.
Yasmin was amazing! She is going places. Look out for her. Andrew was such a proud Dad!
