These photos are for you!
Thank you for all your fantastic costume creations!
All photos will appear on Flickr at
and specifically in a photo album at
www.flickr.com/photos/edwardmitchell/albums/7215768708429...
New photos will be added to this album over time as I process them! If you don’t see yourself, check back as I expect to end up with 300-400 photos!
———————————
I have about 1,600 photos - this will get edited down to about
300 to 400 final photos which I will post primarily on Flickr, but also many on my Instagram page at instagram.com/coldstreams
I asked permission to take photos in almost all cases, and in all photos where I was aware of a child in the photo, I asked permission to take the photo and
post here.
I did not ask permission for many group photos, where poses were being done for
photos, assuming that taking those photos was implied okay. If you have any questions please message me through my Flickr page. Thank you!
Some times I included photos of both front and back because often times cosplayers have created something elaborate on the back side - and they never get to see what
it looks like!

Thanks for all the sweet comments my fellow Craniacs!! I was going to switch to something else, but felt I should keep going in reverse chronological order of the “Sandhill Crane Bath Series”, LOL!
Seriously, you make my heart twingle with your kind comments. My favorite part of Flickr is connecting with passionate people especially those with similar interests. You all make me feel less weird and splendidly weird at the same time. Hugs!
In this shot I think you can sort of see by the angle of motion, the force with which it slaps the water with its wings and tail. They raise up, tip and then slap their wings and tail up and down in the water. Again, my assumption is the behavior agitates out the any dirt or debris from these areas. This is normal bird behavior of course, it's just on a grander scale since Sandhill Cranes are so big and their legs are so long.
Hugs and thanks for viewing! =o)

This shot taken during a DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR BEGINNERS COURSE, 30th Jan 2010.
I’m being brave and asking for simple constructive comments (but please be gentle ... Compared to some of you fellow flickr experts, I am a “beginner” after all).

Although the comment below states the building is 'pure art deco', the history board states it was built in the art noveau style that preceded art deco. I'm inclined to agree. However, the comment does give other information accurately and the link shows pictures of the building on all its glory, so I have continued to use it.
The former cinema "Opera" was built from 1922 to 1923. This magnificent theatre, which could seat 1450 spectators, was quickly geared almost exclusively to be a cinema.
Majestically, in the purest style "Art Deco", it is constructed from reinforced concrete: it has a bow, balconies, a decoration with mosaics and stained glass, and a superb curved and corrugated awning.
The film "Opera" was built on the site of another cinema that, in its short career, was the "Aero Cinema". That opened in April 1912 in a former gymnasium, but was destroyed by bombing during World War I.
Only the façade was protected by an order dated 6 February 1981 and the auditorium was unfortunately destroyed soon after ... to be replaced by a film of 5 rooms complex (and 6 in the '90) with the same name, and whose entrance is located in a street parallel to Rue Thillois. (Slight amendments made to Google translations from the site below.

1.What is the concept? What caught your attention?
Magical Place
2. Articular the story-notice mood, emotions, visual elements, sensual experience. What is happening.
Trees light up the sky
Water reflects the beauty
Reflections go deep
Stream of consciousness-I was walking along a beautiful lit up canyon. Some are darker, this one was different and sparkled. I felt happy and surprised. I saw all the amazing colors, leaves on the ground, trees glowing, blue rocks, covered with green every where, like a magical forest where elves/faires could live and play. I felt playful, like running through the leaves and water. Felt like a child seeing everything new for the first time. It was a magical forest where anything could happen. I could make 3 wishes and they would come true. Magical seeing and believing. People would live happily ever after every where. I would wish this for everyone in the world, to find a magical and enchanting place within themselves and without. No more conflicts, no more wars. Everyone lives happily ever after in a beautiful world. Beautiful people in beautiful world. This is magical, because for a moment I feel everything is as it should be-live happily ever after. There are no problems, wishes come true. Then I realize this can not happen, the visual magic is still there, but my mind starts thinking of the real world with much pain and suffering. I remember some quote I heard about magic working through us, not around us, but through us. Wonder how I can help, in my small way. Magical me to transform the world in some way?
Awareness-When I began writing thought this would be more about the magical forest and all the visual stimulation which I strongly felt. Surprised the magical turned inwards and wanted a magical world where there would be no suffering or wars, and people would live happily ever after as in fairy tales
3. Visualize the photograph. Composition, technical details, post processing, etc.
I wanted to focus and emphasize the magical part I experienced and felt: leaving out the sky, wanting an intimate and magical feeling, showing the light on the trees, everything covered with moss and leaves, mystical water in the middle, cliffs surrounding the area for a cozy and intimate feeling, variety of colors contribute to the mood, texture of moss
Every element seems to support the theme of magical. They interact well together. Writing this makes me aware of all the elements supporting the theme or concept, main message, subject. Identifying the concept or theme first helps with the composition-what I want to include or exclude, how to simplify to express the concept, what relationships to include.
This was fun and helpful!
