Everything outside in central Indiana was cold today. Sub-zero wind chills most of the day, but.... the sun shone, so I went out a couple times. I was watching a flock of Robins trying to find unfrozen berries and stay warm, and this male Downy Woodpecker appeared. He pecked and probed at this tree for a few minutes, then took off. (Hopefully for some shelter!)

are nevertheless good for spotting. Yesterday I spottet this nice black Aston Martin DBS in Frankurt. It was really really cold.

an observation
not just the temperature
for the past several years i have witnessed Saratoga disappear right before my eyes. the downtown was always great boutiques, townhouses, privately owned coffee shops. there was always a sunny side of the street
now my favorite shops have all seemed to vanished, the large retail chains have built up so fast and house apartments above them which totaly block the sun from the streets. I am standing outside of stabucks because there are not even any independent coffee shops anymore...at least not one i could find where i once knew.
still i grab a cup of overpriced coffee and head on over to visit my old friends "spit and spat" and harassed them a while...who knows...they may be replaced by an "mart" of some sort the next time i go there

Nike Element half-zip running top, Under Armour Metal cold gear top, CW-X compression tights (noninsulated, those don't come out until it gets /really/ cold,) Motorola Atrix 4G mobile, Zoot beanie, Polar heart monitor wristwatch, and Vibram FiveFingers shoes.
She's cold.
2x Flex TT5s, 1 430EXII fired into shoot through umbrella, half of it flagged to prevent excess spill and take some of the heat off her lower half. Canon 5d.
One flash to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them.

Except for the frame and signature, this is straight out of the camera. No HDR, no Topaz, no textures. I thought I would try something different for the first official day of winter.
