On a cold and very wet day Brush built Class 31/4 #31452 propels the Dartmoor Railway's half past twelve service to Meldon away from Okehampton on Easter Saturday. For the record Okehampton was the wettest place in Britain on this day with over two inches of rain in twenty four hours.

Taken a couple of weeks ago. The temp got down to 8F (-13 C) that night, pretty cold for this part of Pennsylvania.

This one is for you Gail, my butt practically froze off snapping this.... I climbed over the river wall and down over the rocks to get to the water's edge. God it was nasty- I only managed a few shots before my hands were too cold to work the camera. And the wind was so bitterly cold- it sent me scrambling for my truck pretty quick, long before the best sunset colors could develope.... rats!
New Yorkers bundled up during record breaking low temperatures due to the weather phenomenon called the "Polar Vortex" in NY, NY on January 7, 2014.
Considering this is one of most visited botanic gardens in the world, it is humbling to enjoy the quiet solitude, without even a foot print in the fresh snow. This photo shows the path around the east side of the Japanese Garden. There was an impressive buildup of snow drifts. I arrived at sunrise and spend over 2 hours taking pictures of the fresh snow. The light sparkling off the crystalline ice was gorgeous. I could have done without the screaming winds at 16F, though. Saturday can be defined as 'cold'. A touch of colour, but it really did feel cold and bleak with very fine snow feeling like sand, in the wind!
