So winter is here in Texas. After a wonderful thanksgiving weekend in Ft Worth and Houston I am back here in Lubbock. I was quickly displayed with another strange piece of Southern decor.
Truck testicles.
Yes, these are little aluminum things that people hang from whatever vehicle they drive letting all know that this vehicle is their penis.
While heading home after a bit of time at the library i was lucky enough to have a red light to allow some time to snap a photo of these cold testicles.
They must be, why else would they have a warmer?

A destroyed bank building on Failaka island. I did many versions of this HDR panorama and here, the panorama was stitched again using a Wide View perspective and also merging HDR slides using Tungsten WB instead of the original WB (Daylight). In HDR phase and before baking the panorama, adjustment layers were added to separate the cold and warm tones between the ceiling and the whole scene. Tone-mapping (baking) added a bit of dramatic light into the scene.

Anyway, I used an LED lamp to get the lighting like this. My flash is disabled in macro mode, and I really liked the effect.
Of course, the Thing a Week theme is 'Drink', so I composed all the drink related articles for the shot. The tin is for coffee grounds. :)
These infant gulls (?), along with their mother, were spotted in Canal Park today. The lake is unusually cold for early April, and the birds were wading awfully close to the ice.
