Mole Chicken Chili with Brown Rice from America's Test Kitchen Slow Cooker Revolution. Cinco de Mayo is coming up, right? A chilled bottle of draft root beer seems quite appropriate.

Last week I was on a quest to find some quick and easy cookies to bake...that didn't require me to chill the dough for 30 or more minutes. I happened upon these at epicurious.com and am glad I did.
The recipe is here: tinyurl.com/6qc87f
The only changes I made were the addition of espresso powder and a few white chocolate chips. Other than that, I stuck to the recipe.
These cookies were a great blend of crunchy yet chewy and the raw dough was unbelievably delicious. These will be made again and again and again.
Turbinado, or raw, sugar, with chiaroscuro cinnamon and cocoa shakers lurking behind it. Another photo from my neighborhood cafe, where I was waiting for my panini to grill.

Lava cakes or molten chocolate cake and whipped cream. Coconut rasp and sunflower seeds. Decorative plate. High point of view. Light effect.
It was a baking fail. Overfilled batter, cosmetic surgery, and crumb so delicate that it threatened to fall apart when I glazed. Sigh. At least it looked pretty.

Hope to try my hand at cruelty-free, compassionate vegan truffles in the future.
Just came home from entering my baking entry at Mad For Marmalade, Crazy For Citrus. An original creation of Almond Chocolate Marmalade Bar. Buttery shortbread, seville orange marmalade, dark chocolate, cocoa orange scented frangipane, and candied kumquats. It received 3rd place in the baking competition!

At the House of the Undying... aka, Eric's apartment at Trump Place.
A few of us decided to watch the season finale of Game of Thrones, and we each had to bring a themed food. I made Tyrion-misu with Wildfire (tiramisu with green-dyed mascarpone cheese), Varys cake pops (it was originally velvet cake shaped as Ned Stark's severed head, but it was too difficult to draw the beard), and Drink of the Shade (vodka, blue caracao, sprite, and blue Gatorade).
Pictured here is the Tyrion-misu, a hit with the guests.
