Like a ghostly train zooming through the fog. (I wasn't too keen about getting close to the edge, especially as it's pretty overgrown and one missed step...!)
Nearby there is a similar bay where the cliff has worn away (by those world's highest tides) in just a generation. A friend told me that when she was a child, her baseball diamond was situated in just such a spot. Now it is gone - but what a lovely scene it leaves.
South Stack, Anglesey, Wales
South Stack is an island situated just off #HolyIsland on the northwest coast of #Anglesey. It is famous as the location of one of Wales' most spectacular #SouthStackLighthouse. The cliffs are 130m high on average. Standing here you can see sea traffic in the Irish sea between Belfast and Liverpool and Cardiff. The jagged rocks and monoliths at the base offer a spectacular view with shallow, emerald waters - and are as deadly should you trip and fall.
These #Precambrian cliffs are one of my favourite in the whole of UK, and are home to some of the most important sea bird colonies in #Wales. During June and July the sea cliffs here are packed with sea birds - mainly auks including puffin, razorbill and guillemot.
From the cliff tops here you can look down and watch the birds swimming, as they fly underwater in search of fish and sand eels.
During the breeding season up to 3,000 Guillemots and 700 Razorbills will nest here, precariously balancing their eggs on the narrow ledges.
You'll also find a small Puffin colony here and predatory Great Blacked-backed Gulls swooping down to grab chicks from any unattended nests.
Aside from the bird life, #SouthStack is also famed for its plant life and one plant in particular, can only be found here in the whole of Britain.
The plant in question is known as the Spathulate Fleawort and is a rather plain yellow flower, not dissimilar to a tall daisy with yellow petals. You'll find it growing along the edges of the sea cliffs, so tread carefully.
We picked a great day to do the Ring of Kerry and take a short detour along the Skellig Ring to see the Kerry Cliffs. The sun was shining, and the blues of the water with bright greens just made these views seem otherworldly. The skies were clear enough that you could see the Skellig Islands. One has a monastery dating back to the 6th century and was used to film Luke Skywalker's home in two recent Star Wars movies.
I love the landscape around this area and its usually not that busy. But with limited parking Me and Rebecca waited until Tuesday to avoid the bank holiday Monday crowds and traffic.
The walk starts with a bit of an assent but once you are on top of the cliffs its fairly flat. The fun bit is dropping down and following one of the multiple paths that run along the scalloped cliffs back the way you came to create a loop.

After a nice 2.5 mile hike, this is the reward at the end of the Raven Cliff Falls Trail. In actuality this is only a portion of the falls that drop through the steep cliffs, but it's about all I could shoot without completely blowing out the highlights. These falls end in a deep (COLD) pool and then feed into Dodd Creek.

Langdon Cliffs.
There have been a lot of corn buntings around this last week. The one under the farm gate was very confiding. The shot in the dried grasses was a bit of an experiment to see whether I could focus through all the grass stems.
..and when the tide came in, the water was a memory of the paths that I didn't wanted to walk.

Lads will be lads. This bunch of lads were having a whale of a time jumping into the sea at Manarola. Quite surprisingly a couple of spectators tried to stop them, but as you would imagine the lads knew best. Thankfully they all seemed well as they retired for the night.
QingShiu cliff stretches more than 21 kilometers and rises vertically from the Pacific Ocean, with an average height of over 800 meters.

Standing 214m (702 feet) at their highest point they stretch for 8 kilometres (5 miles) along the Atlantic coast of County Clare in the west of Ireland. From the Cliffs of Moher on a clear day one can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, as well as the Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk mountains in Connemara, Loop Head to the south and the Dingle Peninsula and Blasket Islands in Kerry. O’Brien’s Tower stands near the highest point and has served as a viewing point for visitors for hundreds of years.
