With the diving Gannet boat trip re-scheduled to a later start time I decided to spend an hour at Bempton Cliffs, didn't see the Albatross though unfortunately.

They are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe, the highest point is 609 m over the sea.
Very interesting part of the history of our country. What's even more fascinating is how much has survived over 700 years, helped by the arid climate.
Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. The structure built by the Ancestral Puebloans is located within Mesa Verde National Park, along with hundreds more structures in the cliffs and on top of the mesas.
Tree-ring dating indicates that construction and refurbishing of Cliff Palace was continuous approximately from 1190 through 1260, although the major portion of the building was done within a 20-year time span This community was likely inhabited by up to 500 people.
Cliff Palace was abandoned by 1300, and while debate remains as to the causes of this, some believe that a series of mega-droughts interrupting food production systems is the main cause

The irresponsible stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.
There are frequent cliff falls here at Birling Gap, and yet people still go to the very edge and look over. I couldn't believe it when I saw this family with 2 young children walk to the edge, although they did take hold of their hands before they got there. Plus it was blowing a gale and a small child could easily get blown over.

This photograph comes from a trip to Utah and specifically a visit to Zion National Park over a dozen years ago. It is also another of my “lost and found” photographs — from a file that has languished in my raw file archives since that time. I think I may have left it behind after working on a different photograph of the same cliff.
This is a classic Utah red rock canyon scene, with bright green trees (just barely starting to take on autumn colors) at the base of red rock cliffs. I love how the reds and green stand out against one another. As I’ve said before, this Sierra Nevada guy, after a visit to Utah, upon returning to the gray granite of “my” range always looks a bit… bland.
We were hoping for a colourful sunset but while this didn't happen, the beautiful sea cliffs on Achill Island made for great photographs anyway.

Walking along a cliff path in North Devon, I saw these very small flowers along the edge of the path. Any idea what they are please?
