Today, a Blacktron version of a iconic Classic Space set, the famous 6927 ,released in 1981.
I didn't have it when I was a child, but I really love it since I bought the regular version on BL a few years ago. Even if I'm a bit amused by the "Mickey ears" on the top ^^
Mobile satellite links were extremely useful for relaying the findings of the Federation's various surface discovery vehicles straight to space stations and orbiting space craft. However, when dust and electrical storms made such communication impossible, the Heavy Communications Rover could send and receive messages seismically through a planet's interior. A network of four rovers would be enough to cover the entire surface of most planets, ensuring transfer of information from the planet surface to space without interruption. In the days of Blacktron raids, this tactic allowed the Federation to react speedily to attack.
I had this old dark gray radar dish sitting on the shelf for years and decided I had to make something with it. This was the result. It's not obviously visible on the main edit, but the stacked dishes behind the main cab are meant to be a device to create seismic pulses, and also provide a pivot point between the can and the trailer. Also pleased that I used three trans yellow windscreens I’d never used before - particularly fun to discover that the inverted windscreen can accept two SNOT studs. I also used three different lattice parts in old light gray to tie the build together.
the same werd parts combo once more, hockey chest armor with dimensions tr.yellow round thingy. I wanted to give a proper cool mech to the little guy spaceman!
Sorry for the numerous uploads ! But my CS crew was on the verge to make a revolution if they didn't obtain new vehicles to... well, roll along the carpet ^^
I didn't want them to get angry... ;-)
I had to order a black CS minifig off of Bricklink, but this one was in absolutely beautiful shape.
The Gamma VII Laser Craft is the space artillery of the Galaxy Rangers. When both parts are combined, the ship can easily blast through the toughest asteroid defenses to reveal the gooey criminal insides.
As a kid, I always wanted this set, but never got it. I saw it as one giant laser, with a detachable front part for exciting scouting and dogfight moments. I realize the brick-built power core isn't exactly the same as the old panel piece, but I figured it still looked cool enough.
This entire project was spawned several years ago on CSF when I saw Zachmoe's awesome Blacktron Executioner and his discussion about painting the UCS X-Wing canopy. Check out his stream for more details on painting.
The Classic Space Federation commissioned Aratech Repulsor Company to build a customised version of their 74-Z speeder bike for federation use. The bike had extended range and improved sensor array, and became popular with federation pilots, and despite many repeat orders, there were never enough to meet demand. They were highly prized among the pilots who got hold of them.
An exercice I love to do from time to time : make a ship only with vintage parts, in the true style of 80s Space sets.
I think this one is my favorite in this style so far, it has many references (more or less subtle ^^) to many ships from the 80s (sets 6890, 6929, and many other) and it was a real pleasure to build.
Hope you'll like it ;-)

I know, I know! The three laws of Robotics... but it's a plastic gun, after all! ;-)
Mayday, the rift anomaly is getting out of control! Our disruptor tanks can hardly keep it confined!
Try to hold on. We called in an airstrike, that should deal with it.
This is one of my contributions to the Mini-Moonbase contest at Berlin SteineWAHN! 2021, a collaborative micro Classic Space project based on a 10x10 grid.
This one shows an anomaly coming out of a rift in the planetary surface and getting out of control. Disruptor tanks are trying to contain it while bombers are taking onto it from above.
Just for fun I shrunk Benny's Spaceship down to see how small I could make it. Hopefully it's still somewhat recognisable.

Arachnophobes look away now.
Following on from The Manta Ray, this is Goliath, the second build in my armada of creature themed Neo Classic Spacecraft.
Originally a Blacktron vehicle (hence the black legs, Benny hasn't gotten around to painting them yet) Goliath was found abandoned on a desolate moon. Perfect for the exploration of jungle planets, Goliath can now climb trees, climb mountains,… hell, with this many limbs it can climb anything!
No fancy techniques in this one, sometimes I like to build things just concentrating purely on the concept. Also here’s a fun fact about it: this build is actually the same size as a fully grown real Goliath bird eating tarantula!
I do like the Y-Wing, even if it is a bit of a deathtrap according to most of the Star Wars films. I think we had to wait until Rogue One to see one actually shoot something or do some damage, or do anything except explode, in fact.
So I built a Neoclassic Space version.
The LL433 Ypsilon is the result. It was displayed previously in the just-uploaded Abugida Spaceport, but I thought it warranted its own posting.
NCS fast transport.

Thought I was done with FebRovery but got a hold of some old Classic space pieces from another AFOL so what choice did I have but to make another one? 😂😛
When the Neo Classic Space Federation puts out a galaxy-wide call to take part in a pod-race on the Moon, the call is answered by the Blacktron Future Generation.
Although Benny's racer, 'LL-UC45' uses cutting edge tech, the Future Generation's 'WhiteGilled BlackFish' has never lost a race.
The stage is set for a white-knuckle showdown as these old foes race each other across the dusty plains of the Lunar surface.
My entries for the current Lego Ideas Contest "Create ART to be enjoyed by all!" Well, I hope this is being enjoyed by Classic Space Fans at least ! :)
A sadly slow rover, as its air conditioning unit took most of the power from its engine, leaving little to drive it along the Moon's surface. However, it was handy place to grow tomatoes.

The front 1x2x3 windscreen doesn't exist in the real world. I don't like using fantasy elements without pointing it out. However, some turmeric might be able to change that.

Functional quality, of course :). Radar in tow that turns in all directions. The 2 small folding jacks when the trailer is unhooked. (A radar not horizontal, when the trailer tilts, it works much less well!)
Radar on the roof of the vehicle which rotates 360 °. I really thoroughly styled this 2nd radar with sensors everywhere and tried to keep "the best spirit" with the 2 round transparent things.

Another shot of the underside of the Explorer from a different angle, showing undercarriage retracted and open.
I tweaked my original design slightly, but you can still support this becoming a real set by clicking the link! Thanks!

I took part in New Elementary's Space Tools parts fest, so I thought I'd upload some of the photos I used for the article.

Apparently Marchikoma is a thing. The things you learn when you join the LEGO Space Discord.
I'm not too familiar with the "Ghost in the Shell" source material, but I do love me some arthropod-based mechs, even more so than humanoid ones sometimes. I'm up for this challenge. We can build a spider walker.
Classic Space because of course my first proper tachikoma is going to be, the Aranea-class System Defence Force walker uses an AI and a pilot acting in tandem, in what I understand to be proper "Ghost in the Shell" fashion.
"We come in pieces!"
For the record: the saucer shape is based on the outer surface of this sphere/globe: www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=40018, reduced to 1/3-height.
For now it is just a hollow shell; it will eventually have a cockpit, living space, etc etc.
