Utterly ridiculous...

also: SLUG represent.

Another MA entry; unfortunately I didn't have a windscreen to use, or a less pink fig.

A complete modern update to the classic LL 928 Space Cruiser and Moonbase / Galaxy Explorer. Moonbase and spaceship described separately in other photos.

Another rover, another version of tracks, this time with gold ingot pieces for traction. Had to make something fun with the X-pod piece. Added a few blue crystals in the cracks of the ground for a more "alien" look, hope you like it :)

The Federation wasted nothing when processing the minerals, ore and fuels recovered by its massive mining operations. Dangerous by-products were recycled and reformed for other important uses. Even more importantly, many key fuels were exceptionally dangerous if utilised incorrectly, requiring acute physical stability during transit. Transport rovers were fitted with sensitive gyroscopic technologies and extremely responsive suspension for this task.

This Classic Space rover started around the lattice fence pieces, and grew from there. In the end this project used an alarming number of pieces for such a small build! Old gray forever!

Another model made with instructions from the Idea Book 250.

I've changed the color scheme (the original is grey-black-trans green), so it match better with 1986 Classic Space sets, like 6892 or 6985.

It's really a charming little ship, I'll keep it assembled, next to my official CS sets.

In the third picture, the robot is made from instructions from another Idea Book (200)

FL-56 Ionospheric Training Craft and LL-102 Teaching Shuttle Pod

After basic simulation training, new Federation recruits were taken up as far as the edge of the ionosphere to get the hang of flying in a variety of atmospheric densities and pressures. Those few who succeeded in impressing the flight tutors would be selected for the resource intensive flight training programs and would trade in their pink training spacesuits for the coveted red ones. Those less suited to piloting craft were trained as ground crew, scientists, or engineers.

Finally had a chance to photograph these after a very busy summer. Had fun building them - I had to create an excuse for myself to use the new Classic Space branded toolbox. Part of the cockpit design of the training craft is shamelessly ripped off of ama77what's brilliant space bike design. The teaching craft is salvaged from another idea that didn't work and is obviously very indebted to Peter Reid‘s evergreen LL-790. It's a five stud wide cockpit. Both spaceships have landing gear.

Using the cupcake piece for the seed part

The full lineup, including the new grey Classic Space minifgure.

The LL-908 was the smallest ship which used the same aerofoil design principles developed for the Galaxy Explorer. Its open cockpit meant that flight beyond the Troposphere was rarely attempted, but its relatively modest manufacture and maintenance costs made it a common and useful Federation Craft.

Underside with landing gear retracted.

A quick build by my standards (just two sessions!) I just wanted to make the smallest possible craft on the 1979 classic spacecraft blueprint. The nose was created by removing the print from a classic space piece, and then adding a sticker from the Go Brick Me set. In front of that are three pieces that are rather rare in blue! It was also an excuse to use this windscreen piece - I'm working my way through the trans yellow ones. There are two more recolours in trans-yellow coming this summer in a Batman set - a large bubble canopy, and a big angled one.

Some new tiles from Brickrock Press! Nice to see someone making customs for the space theme!

This is my first foray into Neo Space, using the short-lived Spyrius theme as my inspiration.

When I was growing up, one of my favourite sets was 6835 Saucer Scout. I loved the sleek design and the symmetry of it, and it was one of the few sets I never took apart to build other things with.

This model is my interpretation of a MK2 version, with a larger and sleeker body, more powerful thrusters and a long-range communications antenna to relay information back to Spyrius HQ. The ship is unarmed, as it's designed to be fast and stealthy, and won't stand up in a firefight against enemy starfighters.

Here we see the single pilot land on a remote moon to take advantage of a secret Spyrius supply dump, complete with food, a hibernating repair robot, power generator and communications antenna.

Over the next few days I will take some more photos of the ship itself to show off the detail.

...travelling the void in style...

This is my idea of a proper space age ride. The detached shuttle can be used for planetary excursions. With the rocket stage attached, you're ready for interstellar flights!

The dual windscreens in 10497 gave me the idea to try to create a classic space version of my favorite Star Wars ship, the U-wing. Overall I am pretty happy with this one. I wasn't sure if I would be able to keep the functions of the U-wing but managed to get the sweeping s-foils and opening troop compartment doors (this with the addition of 2 1L axle/pins and 4 2L axle pins). All other parts come from the set. The part count comes in a little over 900. RogueOlympics at roguebricks.de: Every week we gotta build something with a new theme but with no more then 101 bricks. I thought, whatever the theme, I'll only do spaceships so here is my microscale hangar. Oh yes, this weeks theme was "big and small"

The idea for this MOC came from the red wheels. The wheel suspension is flexible so that rocks in the way should not be a problem ;-)

See my photostream for mor pics of the mechanism.

A friend gave me a hint of the FebRovery Group. I hope I am not out of the rules.

Playing with another Classic Space colour scheme and some engine designs.

Loving the new series of Space Lego Minifigures!

Prefabricated, fully sealed outposts were one way that allowed the Federation rapid expansion onto new worlds. These surface bases provided hubs for exploratory vehicles, and often contained larger scientific instruments for analysis that would be impractical to carry on mobile laboratories. Once a planet's atmosphere had been properly measured, tested, and transformed, less stringently sealed construction could occur on the surface, and these outposts could then be recycled for further use on new frontiers.

I started this build with the idea of building something entirely studs up using large panel pieces so beloved of later classic space sets. I got quite far, but I couldn't resist when closing up the back using more modern techniques, in order to maintain certain symmetries. Still, I'm happy with how clean this build came out. It has a full interior, which I will also try to capture.

40 years of classic space!

Episode 14 of this year's FebRovery and equalling my usual average of 1 rover every other day, this little runabout rover using the barrel sections from the UCS Galaxy Explorer rounds out my builds for the month.

A small Blacktron attack craft I built for New Elementary using the grey backside of the NinjaGo Arcade Pods.

The top parts are Bionicle armour pieces from 2008-2009, added to this spaceship during a Bionicle-themed LondonAFOLs meet-up to convey a bit of alien technology into this angular craft.

Named after the Golden Poison Frog

This is my first serious attempt at a frame-less mech build. The arm, leg & shoulder panels are forming the "frame" and have integrated joints, mostly 1x1 bricks w. stud on one side sitting in a technic brick with a rod through for added stability and friction. I was doodling around with the legs and the rest kind of happened in a flow state without much planning. Thx for viewing and happy early Mechtober!

The last radio signals promise nothing good. As a precaution, the safety equipment has been extended ...

This is NOT my creation, this is a little Rover shown in the Idea Book 250 (from 1987).

As I have now almost all the space sets from before 1996, I expand my collection with oddities, like things shown in the old Ideas Books. This one is really charming IMO, hope my photos will give Spacers the will to build it :-D

My second photo for the #legoyellowspacemanweek

Jumping on the trend initiated by Andrew Latham, Jason Andrew Davies and Cyril Deble, here is my take on Andrew’s Trailblazer.

I decided not to restrict myself to only Classic Space elements, and instead embrace and incorporate some of the new elements available.

Also, in true spirit of Classic Space, I opted to replace the Sol-Air missiles by side boosters.

I call it the Trailhauler because unlike the Trailblazer, it's main purpose is to transport personel and equipment, hence why the rear door has more clearance and the extra boosters. It also has a trailer hitch so I can haul more equipment.

Solar flare? Meteor storm? Creepy space alien looking at you in a funny way? Then you need the new RETRACT-O-ROVER™!

If you are even slightly anxious about a situation, simply press the "RETRACT LID™" button and activate the "COME AND GET ME QUICK™" beacon.

FebRovery 2013

One of those builds that just kind of happens while sorting. And, *finally* a use for those massive SW engine cowls...

I have to push the space pram a lot!

The LEGO Spaceman has been in Space since 1978, exploring strange new worlds and travelling to galaxies far far away....

When bed time comes they put on theirs pyjamas and dream of Planet Earth because even the bravest Spaceman gets a little homesick.

If you ever wondered how they keep smiling I'll let you in on their secret.... milk and cookies before going to bed. ;) Just don't go to bed before brushing your teeth.

I did no research for this model. Obviously it's a nod to Aliens and the Matrix (and WH40k Sentinels). But I didn't look at a single reference picture till it was done.

The Lego City 60430: Interstellar Spaceship, being too small, too ugly, too many visible stud, too simple, etc ...

... I decided to re-do it again LEGO hurt my eyes too much. It tickled my fingers seriously. Worse it's space ! I could not resist.

grognie-furie MODE: ON

To make the flame/cone of the reactor, I used an Indian trick or innovated : NPU ! I used the transparent Dragon eggs, from the Lego Elves series (sets 41171 & 41180)

24132 - Container, Faceted, 4 x 4 x 1 2/3, Dragon Egg Top &

24130 - Container, Faceted, 4 x 4 x 1 2/3, Dragon Egg Bottom

Then I stacked 2x2 or 3x3 transparent-red dishes, to build the inside of the flame/cone.

Built for the Eurobricks Classic Space Era Spaceship Contest.

Had to be a ship containing a smaller vehicle in the colour scheme of one out of a list of classic themes. I already had an idea for another wedge craft built around the new trans-yellow canopy, so thought I'd give it a whirl.

A variant of my LL-926, fully updated using mostly modern parts (e.g. light bluish gray), and every part is easily available and cheap on bricklink. I finally caved to requests and made made instructions for the first time - a fascinating process! It has a fully detailed underside, functional landing gear, a moveable hatch, rear ramp and transport buggy which fits neatly inside, and is fully swooshable! (One slight thing to note on the underside - on the underside bricklist, the landing gear are in dark bluish gray to save money)

(even if you don't purchase would help me out if you take a look, and maybe even like/comment on Rebrickable as that lets it get more visible)

Have fun!

The CATT (Configurable All-Terrain Truck) is a modular space vehicle designed for easily changing attachments and features for different capabilities. This configuration includes a front winch, top lighting and sensors, and a rear 6x6 cargo area with a lift gate.

As has been mention before during this Febrovery, in an infinite universe, blessed with faster-than-light travel, manufacturing industry has ceased (Apart from the artisan production of chocolate Hobnobs in Harlesden). Whatever you need will occur naturally on a planet somewhere.

The planet of Brwsh IV, was home to several species of useful plants and trees. Of particular note were the Backscrubbingbrush bush (seen on the right) and the Bogbrush tree (seen in the background). Our happy driver has a dried and painted backscrubbingbrush bush in his hand. The bogbrush trees were felled and zapped with a shrink ray, in order to make them the correct size, before being exported across the galactic disc.

Spring is here! I took a selfie sitting outdoors enjoying the warm sunrays. The selfie part was somewhat unintentional but I’ll let it pass – this time.

This rover I wanted to build for a long time, now I am glad that is finally completed.

It's about 57 cm long.

Thanks to Fausto De Martini for inspiration.

This planetary explorer (factory name: “PEX-1ML”) was designed as a mobile base (serving also as a laboratory and an observatory). It has all the necessary equipment to explore terrain of new planets. Its drivetrain and suspension was built to handle very rough terrain, while its body was constructed from materials that can withstand almost any weather conditions.
