The days work is complete for this Network Rail test train, top and tailed by Colas Rail's class 37s. Here 37 521 is seen in Derby station (with 37 099 at the other end) about to head to the RTC Sidings with 1Q68 the 02.19 working from Neville Hill, Leeds. During the early hours, Saturday morning and early afternoon, the train had visited Gascoigne Wood, Hatfield & Stainforth, Scunthorpe, Worksop and Toton.
Had no idea this train was running, just happened to be in the right(ish) place at the right time. Just after I took this snap it was announced that my train to London would depart from platform 5 instead of platform 6, so it was a quick scamper over the footbridge. Unfortunately, by this time 1Q68 had departed from platform 4. At least I did get some sort of record of the working, so I count myself lucky - always good to get two class 37 shots within a couple of hours!

By July 1999, the shortage of the regular North Wales Coast Class 37/4s (due to checking suspected bogie problems) was relieved by use of classmates from Scotland. This resulted in less 37/0s and others on this line compared to the previous month. On 10 July 1999, both 37403 and 37423 worked at least two return trips along the coast. 403 is seen at Bangor after arrival on the 08:17 from Crewe. This loco is now preserved and under restoration by the SRPS at Bo'ness.

I had come up from Birmingham hoping to photograph a few Deltic's. The weather was rubbish dull wet grey I did my best but as the day went on the light got worse so I gave up and came home early, I did take a few picture's but most of them were very poor, above is class 37 37242 running down the middle road with a car train. I did see five Deltic's that day 55005 55009 55011 55018 55022 and managed to photograph them all but the result's were not up to much. A rubbish Day Out Saturday KC. 06/11/176

Approaching March South Junction is 37099 with a train of hydrocyanic acid tankers on May 19th 1981. This was just four months before the locomotive migrated north to Scotland, however, its first stay north of the Border was shortlived with it returning to Stratford in November 1981 and subsequently back to March in May 1983. It was May 1985 when it once again went north and in October of that year it was renumbered 37324.
099 held my own personal speed record for a 37 - on an Edinburgh - Inverness train in the month it was renumbered with an impressive 103 mph down the bank to Gleneagles.
