CLICK ALL SIZES!
I wrote that poem. This morning I only had the first half done, and when I came home from grad practice, I wrote the rest.
It's true, I've been in the same school, the same class, with half of those kids since I was FIVE. It's so weird graduating. It's bittersweet. I'm extremely happy, but I'm also really scared.
This girl that I graduated 8th grade with (who I don't really talk to anymore) wrote in my yearbook,
"Heather,
OMG, girl, so we're graduating! Brooklawn seems like yesterday! You're such a great person, you'll be really successful."
And I seriously almost cried reading it.
This is the poem:
"Graduation is an emotional time
Full of joy, and of sorrow
We’re thinking about times gone by,
While dreaming of tomorrow.
These four years
Have come and gone,
For some kids they flew by,
For others they drug on and on.
No one knows for sure what life holds
No one knows for sure what’s right around the bend
Sometimes you just have to go with the flow,
Never knowing quite where the road will end.
Some of these kids have been together
For nearly fifteen years
Some might say, “It’s useless to cry,
Why are you shedding tears?
You should be happy to leave,
It’s what you’ve waited your whole life for.
So, why are you crying? Why are you sad?
Just walk right out that door.”
Some of these kids,
We might never see after graduation day.
Some of these kids are leaving here,
They’re moving far away.
So, you might think
It’s silly to cry, to shed a single tear,
But I know most of these kids,
I’ve been with them for years.
Yes, graduation is an emotional time,
Full of joy, and of sorrow.
I’m thinking about times gone by,
While dreaming of tomorrow."

Here is one of my archive shots taken at Manchester Victoria. This unit is one of the unique 1200V DC two car class 504 third rail electric units that worked between Victoria and Bury. What made these units different is that the electric pick up was via a side contact shoe rather than a top mounted.

Class 66 66413 in the new "Genesee & Wyoming" Freightliner livery rattles past Welney Road Crossing near Manea, with the 0851 Leeds to Felixstowe North freightliner - 12/10/2018.
I had missed this locomotive twice on a Saturday on my local patch recently, so I didn't expect to see it any time in the near future. Therefore, I couldn't quite believe my luck, when I saw the "Freightliner Bee" coming towards me! I had absolutely no idea the locomotive was on this train, so what a fantastic surprise it was to capture this beauty on camera totally out of the blue.

Here's a real oldie as far as my railway photographs go. The 44 class 15's were built by British Thompson Houston from 1957 but didn't prove particularly successful so the class was withdrawn between 1968 and 1971. Four examples soldiered on as carriage heating units and one of them, ADB968001 (formerly D8233) is seen here in my 1978 photograph taken at colchester.
D8233 is now the only survivor and is currently located at Bury Bolton Street on the East Lancs Railway where it is undergoing an extensive overhaul.

Heavy drone carriers of the 'Avari-Class' are state of the art low signature combat carriers.
When it was intorduced there was confusion over whether the carrier or the drones it was carrying were heavy... Once in use everything cleared up; both drones and the carrier itself are heavy! It features a massive side-open maintenance bay and 2 front launch bays. A small Cargo area and even a refining dock for sustainability beyond enemy lines.
Appart from its squads of drones, it features 8 capital torpedo launchers mounted sideways in the front of the hull.

My entry for this 2016 edition of Shiptember.
Thing were a little rushed as this was built while moving to a new house. Build time was spread over 9 or 10 days roughly ... early in september with yesterday finishing the rear section in a hurry to take the pictures and quickly edit today.
It is 145 studs long (116cm) and features a large (provocatively and probably-disqualifying) amount of megablocks and printed parts (mostly tiles), both in a dark olive military color.
47828 approaches Welney Road Crossing near Manea, with the 1027 Crewe. H.S. to Ely ECS - 10/12/2021.
C class 592 on at Nobles on the Bluebell Railway, 18th June 2016.

'Jubilee' class no. 45675 'Hardy' steams away from Hellifield on May 27th 1967.
An image from an album of prints by the Revd David Benson, a curate in Hull when he took most of his photographs. Nearly all from the late 1960s, he not only chased steam (plenty of such photographs from others), but didn't ignore the first generation diesels, of which there are some fantastic images. Also a good number of shots around Hull Docks. Loaded into the Flickr album 'A Curate's Collection' in reverse order, so when I've uploaded them all you can browse the album as it was compiled.
My roommate turned 21 recently and so him and his boys decided to suit up and spend a night on the town looking classy.

When I left Ryan Fleagle, he was still putting coats of white paint over vinyl stencils after dark. I figured he'd return in the morning to remove the stencils and do the last of the touch up work. I started receiving text messages just after sunrise the next day filled with glee: the car's painting was done. When full sun illuminated the fresh paint there were a lot of smiles from the team of volunteers that made this happen. Everyone was thrilled with the job Fleagle's Painting had done taking the old 857B boxcar back to it's 1975 appearance.
Meanwhile the rest of the work continued forward. The inside of the car had already been framed and the sub floor installed. Now that the paint was done it was time to install the wiring and drywall so the museum planning could move forward. Brock Kerchner took the original KarTrak ACI (Automatic Car Identification) tags off PC 184301 and had them faithfully replicated in vinyl; they had to wait to be installed until the paint had fully cured.
