En pleno invierno austral, habitando en aguas saladas del estrecho de Magallanes, ya que las aguas dulces de lagunas y humedales permanecen congeladas. .
Chilean altiplano (high flat land or plain)
I took this one while returning to Chile from Bolivia (on a moving bus)
You can see all these colors all over the first 4 chilean regions ( from north to south). These high plains are formed between the andes and it´s a common territory shared by the west area of bolivia, southern peru, northern argentina and northen Chile.
One of the places i love the most

I took this picture at the end of the day yesterday in Chileno Valley. A rare splash of Fall color for this corner of California, most of our indigenous trees (which these are not) are evergreen. We're having some pretty surreal lighting because of the smoke from the Butte country fires. In fact, the dry leaves were rustling in the devil winds that are driving the fires as I took the shot.
Personally, I'm safe and really far from the actual fires, though we had a small grass fire a couple of hundred yards from my place last night, which was dealt with swiftly by the Novato Fire Department.
As the name suggests, this valley was settled by Chilean immigrants back in the day, and still farmed. Como su nombre indica, este valle fue poblado por inmigrantes chilenos en el pasado, y aún se cultiva.
I had a chance to go shoot with my sister last week, and decided to scout out the countryside west of Petaluma. The sun was lighting up the fog as it rolled into town on our way out, but we had some nice blue hour conditions as the patchy fog continued to roll in above the horizon. Looking forward to coming back here for a sunrise some day. Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!
Huasos are like the chilean cowboys. You can find these kind of people all over the world, but you normally compare it to the northamerican country men, as it is a more famous concept.
Well, looking to these guys i couldn´t avoid thinking about my grandfather who actually was a country man and was born, lived and worked in this same place, the town of paihuano in the nearby valley of Elqui.
I´d like to say also that my grandfather was a humble man with such a great heart and soul. A great human being.
I Never got the chance to meet him, but my mum always tells me great things about him. =)

I get back to Los Cabos this Oct/2015, when driving from the Airport to the hotel at Cabos San Lucas I was driving slowly to check who looks like Chileno Bay after the hurricane, with the emotion to be there next day for the sunrise. Sadly I observed that instead these palm trees were heavy machinery building an Hotel.
Later I asked about a couple of sites I wanted to visit to take photos were no longer public areas. Or after the Odile hurricane most of the access to public beaches had not been repaired...
Lets hope those areas with public access get open again to normal traffic...
