Quite a heavy snow in Yakiyama today. The yellow cab truck, just visible on the right was jack knifed. It blocked the road just enough to make everyone stop and once stopped going up its pretty hard to get momentum going up again without chains. I went back down and took the bypass.

ok. must admit. huge janis joplin fan.her voice is too great for words to describe everything that is in that voice. i swear it brings out evey single emotion in her soul. love love love it.
and for the record, i just really like this song...and for the picture's sake...leave out the ball...just think about the chain aspect ;P
This demonstration picture shows how rain chains would be mounted on a gutter. A normal rain gutter would have rain chain taps installed every 5-6 feet or so. If mounting a rain chain in a downspout outlet, use a downspout reducer pipe. Preferred secure method of mounting rain chains is with a U-bolt fastened to a hidden gutter hanger.
Why oh why was it necessary to chain up the cistern in the public loo in Southerness? Do people really nick these things, and if they do, why on earth....???

A chain of diatoms from pond water a small lake North of South Bend, IN. The horizontal length of the chain is about 100 micron.
Photographed using a Sony NEX 5N with a Bausch & Lomb bright field microscope setup for Kohler illumination. The camera was mounted to a Leica MIKAS microscope adapter with a 2/3X reducer, 43X objective and a 10X eyepiece.
