The stains on this door are so interesting and then the chains stopping anyone from going out this door are just great. I love it so muc.
You see these unfortunate animals here and there. This one is finishing off an icy-pole it stole from a toddler who ventured too close. The kid was lucky not to get his face bitten off. Frankly, monkeys give me the creeps - they remind me too much of some humans ...

While travelling through the small country town of Nanango in Queensland, we happened across the mother of all buckets.

You could drive a truck into this. My daughter is climbing the chain to give some sense of scale, and I have an adjacent shot of her standing inside, just so that you know I haven't deceived you in Photoshop.
One faulty link in a chain and it's all over!
A couple of weeks ago I had to replace my old chain and sprockets which had done close to 20,000 km. The chain kept slipping off the sprocket. So I got some reasonable chain off bikes at the tip and stuck it all together. Unfortunately I didn't have a joining clip and my chain breaker... broke as I was inserting the final pin! I got the pin in but knew it was a dud job. Then on the way home from work the chain snapped and messed up the derailleur. I repaired the chain and tried to straighten the derailleur. It didn't work and when I shifted to first the chain got caught in the wheel and ripped out several spokes! Damn. The Long bike is now off the road indefinitely!

This pendant is a dodecahedron (a figure with 12 sides) made from over 100 brass rings. It’s formed from the 10-in-3 variant of the Japanese chain maille weave. Strung from a chain or cord, it makes a very delicate, “golden” sphere, just 1/2-inch in diameter.

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Designed by the English Engineer William Tierney Clark, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary, and was opened in 1849.
It is anchored on the Pest side of the river to Széchenyi (formerly Roosevelt) Square, adjacent to the Gresham Palace and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and on the Buda side to Adam Clark Square, near the Zero Kilometre Stone and the lower end of the Castle Hill Funicular, leading to Buda Castle.

I can't decide if this is worth looking at or not. I like playing with depth of field. I like that the chain link in this shot creates a pattern I've never seen before.

this morning it was bright and beautiful for the first time in almost a week. you can see the rain stains from last night on the concrete.
the chain was so non-menacing in the glow (chain is supposed to make one feel restrained, unwanted... no?), i had to stop and take a fancy feet photo.

The name of the jasper is what was written on the tag when I bought it. Did a little internet research and didn't find anything except one reference. Like the name so that's what I'm calling it (for now).
