This is a long exposure. All of the 'flash' shots I took down in this basement look wrong somehow.
What is interesting about this old furnace, it was built in my old hometown of Carleton Place, Ontario! I lived there for 10 years before moving back to Calgary. I never thought I'd find a remnant of my past, in my present in an old farmhouse near where I live!
A bracelet of seven links of worn bicycle chain from a rusty old 10-speed bike, size 7. The chain links are stamped with the insignia "HP".
This bracelet may be of particular interest to cyclists and bicycle enthusiasts.
I took several pictures of the Timberjack 450, trying to get an interesting angle on things, but of course I sucked miserably. Probably its most striking feature were its big-ass tire chains, so I took a lot of pictures of those...

food-chain is a research project by Oliver Watson and Henry Ireland, dealing with food from sociological, cultural, political and environmental perspectives.
I saw this chain hanging on a bike rack between UC and Lawson Hall and initially thought it was there to secure the rack to the ground. Turns out there is a padlock (attached below the frame) leading me to believe someone uses this beast to lock up their bike - very Pee Wee's Big Adventure!
Western has bike racks awaiting cyclist all over campus. Come on, be the "chainge" (nyuk nyuk) and do something good for your body and our air quality.
Chains made for an easy climb up to the trailhead in the trucks. This time of year, chains make all the difference for easy access!
