Did a little photoshoot on the Romansco Cauliflower I got from Longo's on Friday... played with the colour a little to see what was what and this what we got.
Love the pointy little flowers.
It was very frosty here yesterday morning - our first real frost of the winter - so once the sun was up, Mrs W went wandering with camera.
One half of tonight's dinner before it went into the steamer. Couldn't resist to take a pic, as I thought it looked so beautiful.
Graduate student Jose Samano and current, recent or future Fresno State students Charles Cochran, Janet Robles, Kylie Baker, Liscia Adati havest cauliflower in Samano's research project from the CIT experimental plot. The project examined yield, biomass and nitrate leaching potential for the cropping system subjected at two fertilizer types (organic and conventional), and three fertilizer rates. The project is important because the leached nitrate from crop fields have caused contamination of aquifers used as drinking water sources. Young children and pregnant women can face serious health issues when drinking water with an elevated content of nitrates. Photo by Geoff Thurner, Copyright 2015.
Looking down from the deck you can see the small cauliflowers forming in the center of the garden bed. This must be August as the stargazers (lower center) are blooming.
Trying to keep away from carbs? You'll love this Cauliflower Rice! Ok, it's not really rice, but it's a healthy option for a side dish in place of grains.
¿Alejándose de los carbohidratos? Les encantará este arroz de Coliflor. Bueno, no es realmente arroz, pero si una alternativa saludable para usarlo de acompañamiento en una comida!

this was to have been a a pumpkin soup ( with leftovers from the lantern) but noticed some cauliflower about to go bad. Sauteed cauliflower with roasted garlic and smoked paprika . Add a splash of boling water and simmer til the cauliflower is soft ( overcooked). Add a splash of milk and puree... Really delicious and creamy

We got this from the Boggy Creek market. I think it's baby cauliflower, or some sort of cauliflower that you don't often see at the grocery store. When steamed/sauteed, it all turns a pleasant green. It's tasty.
Tried out this Cauliflower Soup Recipe as suggested by kimhas7cats this past week. It was amazing. I think next time I'm going to add in some red potatoes and some bacon.
I love Panera Bread's Baked Potato soup, but it's a little too rich for me, and I'm all for making my own. This soup tasted a lot like it and with some bacon and potatoes it would really taste like it!
