mostly a big hit, this one. White sauce a bit of a faff, but it always is and the rest of it was dead easy. Eli was thrilled by a main meal with no hint of onion & gleefully chastised Megan who was having a cauliflower phobic moment and refusing to go near it. Both of them eventually ate it all apart from the cauliflower, which is a bit of a pity as that was kind of the point. Thea devoured the lot. Nick enjoyed it despite thinking he didn't like macaroni cheese. We'll definitely do this again when we've got a milk surplus.
Graduate student Jose Samano and current, recent or future Fresno State students Charles Cochran, Janet Robles, Kylie Baker, Liscia Adati havest cauliflower in Samano's research project from the CIT experimental plot. The project examined yield, biomass and nitrate leaching potential for the cropping system subjected at two fertilizer types (organic and conventional), and three fertilizer rates. The project is important because the leached nitrate from crop fields have caused contamination of aquifers used as drinking water sources. Young children and pregnant women can face serious health issues when drinking water with an elevated content of nitrates. Photo by Geoff Thurner, Copyright 2015.
My first time growing it. I think I must have planted it at the wrong time since its flower looks more broccoli-like.

I decided to cook a few days ago, and ended up eating an entire head of cauliflower, which is an awful lot of cauliflower.
such a beauty, but difficult to get sizable heads in my climate. Absolutely worth growing through, this was the best tasting cauliflower I've ever had in my life! Organically grown, outdoors in Northern California (Sonoma county). Trouble is, for fall harvest, these need to be started probably in late July, but we get a heat wave every year around late September or October, which causes the inflorescence to form early due to heat stress. If you live by the coast, I bet this variety can form large heads there!
